They have great selections for vegetarians and vegans here which impresses me. I had the sweet potato & bean burger which was messy to eat but pretty tasty. I would recommend visiting this place as it is quite different and varied and the chips are especially good.

Went here with a friend, and admittedly for the price you pay, this is in my eyes, is an expensive burger place and had I have paid i would have used the online vouchers you can get. Saying this though, we were greeted quickly, although the closed door is quite unwelcoming. From the start we were told good would be about 25 minutes for food. We had the time, so felt this was okay. When we got in we were asked if we had been there before. We haven’t so the waiter explained how to order and then ran through the menu, was definitely very helpful. Safe to say, the food was worth the wait — wasn’t even 25 minutes in the end. He got a BBQ cheese and bacon burger and I had the sweet potato burger, and we shared some chips. That was more than enough food. The burgers are quite big. Definitely a good idea to cut it up a bit before eating it though. The burgers were delicious and this was the best veggie burger I have had to date. We will probably go back here as there is just so much choice, especially for me as a vegetarian. Although I will probably avoid at peak shopping times as I know how busy the places in Trinity get.

Visited today with my 8 year old who has ‘gone off’ McDonalds. We ate there prior to going to the Everyman cinema and got to the restaurant at 10 minutes to twelve. We were seated quickly, but at twelve quite a queue built up outside. We were given an extensive menu, obviously centred around burgers. I had to take my choices to the till, order and pay there. The prices are maybe slightly more than I expected, but this was probably because the food is all fresh and home sourced. So far so good. The restaurant is quite small and pretty much shoulder to shoulder. There is a good number of staff, very friendly and chatty. Then we waited — and waited — and waited. Eventually the food arrived after thirty five minutes. The burgers were thick and juicy in nice fresh buns, accompanied with salad garnish and relish. We shared a bowl of chips(£3.50). There were a lot of hot and freshly made chips which were delicious — best part the meal! It IS very noisy as already remarked on but I have heard worse. I am not a burger fan and wouldn’t normally go here — but having said that the food was fresh and tasty. My only complaint is the time it took to actually get it from order to table. They do beef and chicken burgers as well as good range of veggie burgers. My grandson had the ‘bottomless’ coke which he made the most of — this necessitated a visit to the toilets, which were spacious and extremely clean.(we just made it to the cinema for the one o’clock film!)

A distinctly average burger joint. Mainly because of the food… not great! We went with a ‘voucher cloud’ voucher, promising one burger for a quid. That sounded pretty good, but it’s not much of a saving. £7−8 buys you a burger without any sides at all, and the chips are £3.35 — that’s a minimum of £10.35 for a disappointing meal! The meat was dry, the cheese/salad/meat ratio wrong and the chips were bland. On the plus side, the place looks pretty good — light, airy & clean. The service was alright too, nothing to moan about there! But unfortunately not enough to warrant a higher rating. Definitely a place to avoid.

‘Meh. I’ve experienced better.’ as the 2 star Unilocal description suggests is very much how I would describe our visit to the Handmade Burger Co. in Trinity, Leeds. We popped in for a spot of lunch today having never visited before and thought we might use our O2 Priority vouchers for two burgers for £10 but we ended up fancying something that wasn’t included in the offer so we were happy to pay full price. The menu seems pretty well presented and has a decent range of choice, I went for the Jimmy’s Beef Cheese and Bacon and ‘the Missus’ being a fan of the odd Jucy Lucy burger, went for the ‘stuffed’ Wensleydale burger. We got a portion of Cajun chips to share. The food arrived promptly, no complaints there, but the food was just… meh. The bacon on my burger wasn’t cooked very well with a stringy, slimy rind and everything just tried to escape the bun should you such as think about picking it up… the bottom of the bun was soggier than Neptune’s socks. The chips were akin to the sort that you’d get from a late night chippy. Soft, soggy and served with extra oil. If I put those in a bowl and put some spicy season on them can I charge £3.35? The ‘stuffed’ Wensleydale burger was… well, what’s the opposite of stuffed? Um, well we aren’t sure where in the handmade process that the burger was introduced to the cheese but it seems it was a fleeting relationship that didn’t make it past the small talk phase. We queried the lack-of-stufffage with the staff and they said we got what we ordered but were happy to refund us if we weren’t happy. We went for that and they apologised and agreed that there wasn’t much, if any cheese in the burger. Definitely won’t bother going back, it’s trying to be a Gourmet Burger Kitchen but just isn’t to the same quality and at £27 for all the above it’s not even reflected in the price.

So, we had 45 minutes to eat, and were standing next to Handmade Burger Co, with a voucher. I wish just one of those things had been different. Or the food had been better. On reflection, probably that. It was mediocre, bland, and the chips I got were almost rubber based, though my friend, ordering identical chips, complained his were dripping with scalding hot oil. Two batches I feel, but you have to get the chips right and consistent! I went for a Milano chicken burger, which tasted of nothing, until I got to the small blob of pesto in the middle, where-upon, for a brief moment, it tasted like pesto, then nothing again. Damn. Apparently the lamb and mint burger was nothing to shout about either. It came across as ‘like Nando’s’ though I was expecting more, for less. The waitress who explained the menu, much to my confusion and amusement(it’s a menu, she pretty much read off the headers), seemed astonished we’d not been before. After eating there though I’m surprised they get many repeat customers. Avoid it!

Not quite sure why so many people have rated this place so low. I first came across Handmade Burger Co in Lincoln and loved it so had a positive image to start with. Wasn’t sure what to expect after all the bad reviews but having been twice I still like it. It’s an open space with plenty of light and a big variety of burgers. The price might be above average but the burgers are big. You can get ‘mini’ ones which are like normal size! Bottomless drinks aren’t much more expensive and they have upped the size of the fruit juices so learning from feedback clearly. They do NHS and Student discount so not a bad place to go for an evening. Guess mid-week is the way to go as that is when I have been and had perfectly normal service and not much waiting around. Make your own mind up and try not to avoid it due to a few bad reviews, I almost did and I’m glad I didn’t.

Me and my partner were wanting something to eat and thought we would try this place. Thankfully we went on a day that was pretty quiet so didn’t have to queue but this didn’t seem to have an effect on the service. It was rather slack to say the least. Anyway we ordered, the drinks were very expensive and the ‘hot’ drinks were more ‘Luke warm’ and the hot chocolate was very weak, barely chocolate flavoured. The total for 2 burgers, chips, one alcoholic drink and a refill drink, a hot chocolate and a tea was just under £34! Which I thought was rather steep! But anyway paid it as we’d never eaten here and thought we would give it a go. When the burgers came they were not what you would call over warm and the chips were cold and not that nice. The burger had cart loads of sauce in which was quite off putting but managed to scape a load out. The waitress who served us was really uninterested in being there full stop, more interested in her own appearance checking herself out in every shiny surface! After finishing I had the most horrific heartburn. And tasted the burger for hours after. This could be value for money with what it cost, but to be honest I don’t like tasting my food 5 hours after I’ve eaten it! It was okay I guess but I don’t think I’d go back. It’s over priced for what it is and not the best. I can say now I’ve tried it but won’t be rushing back!

I’m always on the look out for a good burger. I’d go as far to say that I’m possibly addicted to good burgers. And so when this new ‘burger joint’ opened in Trinity it was somewhere that needed to be tried out. Needed to be experienced. And it’s fine enough. Located on the upper level at Trinity along with all the other fooderies, it’s the kind of place that really should be avoided in school holidays — but I’m brave and waded into the mass of arms and legs on a Wednesday lunch. Cue the queue. With only 60 minutes to get in, get fed and get out again and back to the office it seemed like a really bad idea, but actually the fantastic waiting staff were on form and were running the I/O like a well oiled machine — so even though it looked like a 30 minute wait we only actually stood for 5 minutes. Once seated you notice the ambiance… or maybe lack thereof? Not quite sure. The place tries hard, but it doesn’t really have the ‘hook’ that some of the other restaurants of the ilk have to hang their décor of(thinking Nandos and their history/chicken stories, or Zizzi and their hankering back to Italian values)… HMBC relies on beige, a few cooky fonts and a backing tape that didn’t really add much to the burger eating experience. But the burgers? Well, they’re not bad. They’re not amazing either mind. Good bun, decent sized meat patty, half decent tasty toppings… and worth probably half what is being charged. I went with two friends who shared an O2 voucher offer and their burger meals ended up being around £10 each. I had no such offer, and a burger, drink and fries racked up a bill of almost £20. For a burger. And chips. And coke. Eh? I don’t think so!!! So… Great staff, so-so surroundings, average burger, poor prices. All in all? Meh. Nowhere special. And probably nowhere I’ll be heading back soon either.

I was looking for somewhere to have tea with a friend today, and noticed an offer on Voucher Cloud for The Handmade Burger Company — buy one burger or salad and get another one for a pound. Great. So if you’ve ever been to the Gourmet Burger Kitchen or Nandos, you’ll be at home here — get seated, pick what your having, and order at the till. I like the self service system, as I hate trying to flag down waiters, and like to get ridiculous amounts of refills. As the name suggests, this place specialises in burgers, and they do have a pretty impressive selection — there were more than a dozen beef burgers on the menu(Jerk sounded particularly appetising, but like a massive square, I went for a plain old cheeseburger), almost as many chicken burgers, and even a handful of lamb burgers. There are also the usual sides and whatnot, and a few healthier options like salads. So, the good and bad? The staff were great — friendly and efficient, no problems on that front. Unfortunately for a specialist burger restaurant, the burgers were average. Not in any way bad, but nothing special. I also had peri-peri chips, which again, were nice but unremarkable. Now the price — two burgers, two portions of chips, one refillable drink and one water cost £16.50. And that was with an offer meaning one of the burgers was only a quid. That seemed about right, taking the standard of the food into account. However, had I been paying full price, I don’t think I would have been happy paying that much. So overall, it’s not bad, but it’s a little overpriced. If I wanted this type of food, I think Gourmet Burger Kitchen would take priority, though I’d consider going back if I picked up another offer.

This was such a bad experience for me. First of all, the queue was along the outside of the shop and we were greeted by a hostess who handed out menus for while we were waiting(efficient time-saving I admit). We had to stand in the cold wind-tunnel that is the Trinity Centre. The restaurant was mainly heated from the open kitchen at the opposite end of the place, but they felt the need to shut the door on the people outside which I thought was very unwelcoming. Eventually when I managed to get a table to myself, I glanced up to the blackboard of burgers and saw the contradictory slogan, «Take a seat and order at the desk.» I ordered the American Cheese since the burger I wanted was out of stock. Actually, I wanted a chicken burger but the waitress was quite flustered when I asked her about the food, and I eventually got out of her that the chicken was halal — which I completely protest(read more about the cruel method of slaughter here — ) and she stuttered her words when proclaiming«nothing else is though.» I assured her I was not going to order the chicken and that was the first sign of her being passive-aggressive(I will not describe or name the waitress). About half an hour after I ordered(and was pressured into getting the ‘bottomless’ cola even though I knew I’d only drink the one) I asked the waitress how long it usually took for meals to arrive. She said 25 — 30 minutes, which if I had been made aware of whilst queueing I would have found another place to eat. I asked her politely, expressing, «I don’t mean to be rude», to chase up my order. She stormed off toward the kitchen. Nearly 40 minutes after I ordered, My food came — a huge burger and a side of peri-peri seasoned fries(that I had to order separately). The meal had come to over £12, and the fries were way too spicy to eat comfortably so I ended up leaving them. The burger fell apart as soon as I picked it up so I ended up using a knife and fork. A rather cute waiter came up and asked me how my food was(even though he’d just seen me take a huge bite?!) So I quickly swallowed it down and wiped my mouth before making a comment about the time it took to come with a cheeky smile. He just frowned and moved on to the next table. So I couldn’t eat the fries, the sheer amount of «american» mustard on the top of my burger meant I could not eat most of the top half, and my drink was too expensive. Really bad experience and none of the staff acknowledged me on the way out. Would not go again, and would not advise.
