Very disappointed when were told they couldn’t take a reservation for 14 on a Friday at 5pm. Having been there often at at that time I know for a fact there is plenty of room. Extremely poor business sense.. Just lost a load of customers!!!

I love my burgers. I think it says that on my profile still? Was told about this place by a friend, but then another mentioned they thought it was a bar. This is what put me off going for a while. After the previous weeks disaster at Blackhouse we decided to give it a go. Ok, I needed to mention Blackhouse because if we didn’t have such a dire time there we might not have come here. I think I thought nothing could be worse than that– and it was the complete opposite. It’s tucked away, down a little side street and there’s no one upstairs as the bar area was all Locke up. Big sign saying to go downstairs. It was loud and was like being in a club. Think there was a dj playing music? The tables were a bit crammed together, but was manageable. Now, the difference between this loud and Blackhouse is huge. This place isn’t surrounded by glass. See? The price did seem on the steep side for burgers, but then when places like Five Guys are pushing things then actually it’s not so bad. Almost Famous looks so last decade when compared to this place. The food was an eye and mouth opener. It does come on a big tray to share so be warned. The burgers were moist and I ordered the chicken burger too like another reviewer mentioned, but I thought it was massive! Definitely a two handed job. Maybe they read your review? Didn’t see what date you wrote it. Actually probably the biggest burger I’ve had. It had loads of things in it that were perfectly balanced which is also why the salty rubbish at Almost Famous got a downgrade. We also ordered fries which had onions and some sauce on top. Bit different but was also very tasty. It is on the pricier side, but I’ll definitely go back. It was also a Friday night visit and it was packed unlike the other 2 places mentioned. Would I say this is the best burger I’ve had? I was in London– don’t think I reviewed it– at a place that was supposed to be the best burgers ever type place. We were stuck on a window sill and literally everyone was jammed into this tiny place. The music was super loud. The experience was awful and that just made me not remember much about the food. The staff here were speedy and professional. When the bar staff weren’t busy they were stood with their hands behind their backs ready to serve(this ones for you Blackhouse). However I think I might have maybe seen only one member of staff smile. Hey if I could give you 4 and ¾s I would have. That was my only gripe, which is nothing compared to the other 2 places I visited in between visiting yours. I’m recommending you to friends and customers so hope you keep up the good work.

I did really enjoy the food and ‘vibe’ in this place but something is stopping me from giving it more stars. The food is the place to start — it is GOOOOOooood. Tasty, full of flaavour and even has secret sauces. The décor is amusingly old school with an almost high school disco feel to it. The location is easy to get to and a bit secretive all at the same time.

Went for my boyfriends birthday. We both love Meat Liquor and have been many times before. We reserved the booth with pool table and darts board for a group of 7 of us. The guys loved that. The birthday boy took on the triple chilli challenge but gave up less than a minute in — even after the 10mins were up he couldn’t finish it! The food wasn’t actually as good as usual. Not sure why, but all seemed a lot hotter — possibly because one of us was doing the chilli challenge. It won’t stop me going again but was a shame for those in the group who hadn’t been before. The staff were really accommodating tho, I took a box of donuts in as a birthday cake and they brought it out after our meal with the candles lit etc. They also did a complimentary round of shots which was obviously great! The service was a bit slack to be honest though. Sometimes it’s nice to not be asked if you want anymore drinks constantly. But this was the other end of the scale, we kept having to ask them. And considering we were in there close to three hours, they only got two or three rounds out of us! Overall I still love Meat Liquor(been to the London one too). Great drink selection. And perfect when you want to feast on meat American style. Definitely recommend! Oh also my fav item — fried pickles are a must!

Being able to book a table at Meat Liquor and not having to queue outside is one thing that makes the Leeds branch better than the one near Oxford Street. The other is the décor, it’s like a grindhouse version of the Brudenell games room which cleverly marries the chain’s neon voodoo aesthetic with it’s Yorkshire location. It’s not as dark either, so you can see all the calories you’re about to stuff yourself with. I started with the egg and bacon martini cos I’m a sucker for a weird cocktail. The pickled quail egg covered in bashed up frazzles came in a separate shot glass and whilst it was fun, it didn’t really add much to the drink which was just a(very well made) martini. Rather than go with the trusty Dead Hippy burger we thought we’d try some new stuff and ordered bingo wings, dead hippy fries, the buffalo chicken burger and the bacon cheeseburger. The wings were delicious but I wouldn’t recommend the hippy fries. They were piled high with soggy onions which totally ruined them. The buffalo chicken burger was amazing but the blue cheese sauce made it too sickly to finish so I’d omit that next time. A bit hit and miss all in all but Meat Liquor is still king of the burgers and I’d totally go back.

When my birthday weekend rolled around, there were only two things I wanted to do — eat and drink. So what better place to do so than at MEAT Liquor? Hugely appealing as we could book for the evening, we managed to navigate our way easily via a few bars and were warmly welcomed on arrival. We headed downstairs and set ourselves up at the bar with a cocktail while waiting for our table to be ready. It did take a little bit longer than expected(10 – 15 minutes over time) and started to feel slightly neglected, but the show was soon back on the road. The décor here is ace, with plenty to look at, and your tab(if you choose to have one) is out against a baseball cap, which sits at your table through the meal and it a great little touch. The menu is a good read, but it didn’t take us long to decide what to indulge in. Bingo wings, deep fried xxmac & cheese with a side of cranberry sauce, red chilli burger, xxmas dog, and a portion of fries. Served up on a huge tray for sharing, we were more than ready to tuck in. The mac & cheese was a proper treat, fried in breadcrumbs and with a cranberry sauce to cut through the richness of the cheese. The burger and hot dog were good, though fairly standard in their impact, and the bingo wings had great flavour and heat. Staff were fun and friendly throughout the meal, and it was easy to get their attention for more drinks. I can see MEAT Liquor having a strong future, and I’ll be a frequent customer.

Far too expensive and won’t be going back. My wife and I went here before heading to a concert, the look of the menu I thought we were onto a winner. You cant go wrong with chilli cheese fries, burgers and beer. After being seated quickly(we did book online) it took a while for the waitress to come over and even ask about drinks. The beer at £4.30 for a Schooner of IPA wasn’t massively impressive and was very over priced. For the food we order some spicy chicken wings, chilli cheese fries and a chicken burger to share, all sounded amazing and we couldn’t wait. It didn’t take long to arrive which was good as the claustrophobic table arrangement was very intrusive. I started with the wings and I have to give them a solid 8⁄10 they were very good. That is where the positives end with the food. The chicken burger was very small for £8.50 and was so sweet it could’ve passed for a dessert. There was a bit of spice but nothing to brag about. The chilli cheese fries however were the biggest disappointment, with just a few chips a scoop of chilli on top finished with a huge portion of onion on top that over powered it all. If they had been fried or even tasted fried I wouldn’t have minded but they were(or just seemed) raw. When we gave up eating the onions with a side of chilli and a sprinkle of fries. we asked for the bill. This came with a 10% service charge already included and another £1 charity donation. We had to ask what charity this was for and turned out to be action for hunger. I don’t mind the charity donation but it is the service charge which annoyed me more than anything. overall the bill came to £32+ for this including the 10% service charge(being british too polite to ask for it to be removed). We will not be going back and will not recommend it to anyone. Stick to Cattle Grid in my opinion.

Oh dear. No sooner had I waxed superlative, did I return for disappointment. I’ll make this quick, since the food remains delicious.(And, what ever you do, get the friend pickles. Especially since they’re off the menu at Reds at the moment.) The service on my last visit was dire. We waited forty minutes to get our first drink. Admittedly, we were a party of 20, but we had to ask four times for one of the drinks orders before it came. And why accept a large party if you can’t handle one? No one server was terrible — they’re all lovely, really — but it was far, far too slow. The space for groups is also odd — we had a table that fit 10 people and a pool table, meaning we had to ask for that to be covered so the other half of us had somewhere to eat. Really cool if you’ve a small group, not so if you’re big. Oddly, the food came within 15 – 20 minutes of ordering, so it’s clearly a bar staff/wait staff problem. Could be teething since they’re new, but it spoiled the evening somewhat. Love the burgers, love the space, love the vibe, but the service needs stepping up a lot.

Have visited the London siblings, Meat Market and Meat Liquor a fair few times. This new, out of London venture doesn’t disappoint. The service is great, as is the food and drinks. Recommend the chicken burger — great crispy coating with lovely moist chicken. Simply delicious. The cocktail list is great, and the bar staff are even better. Had a gorgeous couple of old fashions — some of the best outside of the states! Great value for money — definitely recommend!
