Service was dreadful… we had to wait 15mins to get water! Waiters tried so hard to not look at customers as if deliberately avoiding them. The manager at the front refused to take an order and asked that we speak to a waiter that was ignoring us! Food was good but frankly not enjoyable when arriving late and with such bad service.24 tables and only 2 Waiters… that explains alot.

What a remarkably good restaurant. It sets out to create a reasonably priced menu with excellent service ambience etc. It delivers in its entirety. You can sit on the street, in the front of the bar or in the back, secluded and quiet. There is nothing bad to say about this place. Been here ten times at least. Service with a smile.

Quaint little restaurant with highly attentive and lovely staff. We had my 7 month old with us at the time and they made sure she had everything she needed, including lots of attention(many of the staff oohed and Ahhed as they went by and made funny faces to make her laugh). Highchair was available and it was clean with straps. A+!!! Food was yummy but maybe a bit overpriced. My mother and I each ordered a lunch Size salad and split the burger trip on the appetiser menu. This was just there perfect amount of food for us, however don’t expect much with the burger trio. While quite tasty, each burger was only about 1 bite and very difficult to share. Overall lovely restaurant and atmosphere.

The service at Aubaine left me… perplexed. The surly waiter had me and my mother wondering what we’d done to offend him. We actually made a particular effort to be breezy and friendly when he came to us, so concerned we were that he thought we were rude or something, but in the end I’m pretty sure the problem lay somewhere else. Meanwhile, the maitre d’ had a very fixed idea of his role and when my mother asked for some water(in the absence of any other staff) he looked shocked — and presumably never passed on the message to any underlings as the water never came. As for the food, it was hardly first rate. I had the calamari but barely touched it. I love calamari normally but this was particularly fishy and it turned my stomach. Other things were fine albeit not noteworthy but I wasn’t impressed by their pot of mayo, which tasted cheap. I guess I would expect an establishment like this to make their own mayonnaise but if not at least provide something decent. Another one going in the«looks pretty but not worth it» box.

Aubaineeeeeee makes ya insaneeeee. Ok sorry, back to business. I dined here a few weeks ago but it wasn’t memorable enough for me to do an immediate review on. You know? Starters: we had the sharing platter with treats such as pâté, calamari, grilled veggies, mozzarella and salad. The calamari almost took me to flavour town but didn’t quite make it. The grilled veggies were boarding on frozen if you ask me! They must’ve grilled them a week ago!!! Ugh. anyways! The main was pan fried sea bass with an artichoke purée and a side of mashed potatoes and vegetables. The sides were lovely but the sea bass had its bloody scales still on it! I mean who does that? The purée was sickly and disappointing. For dessert we had a section of treats. Macaroons, cakes and an éclair. Now that’s where the money’s at baby! Those desserts had me in frenzy! So so good! I even forgave them for bringing me my fish practically still swimming… Ahhhhh sweet heals all. But honestly not worth the night. Other French places do better

I would give 0 stars if possible for the absolutely rude treatment my wife and I received today. We patiently waited in queue for 15 minutes before being greeted by an obviously overstressed hostess. After politely requesting a table for two, she barked that there would be a 20 minute wait — seemingly insisting that we leave. When we asked to be put on the waiting list she rudely turned her attention to another party that was waiting behind us. I again requested to be added to the wait list but she rudely indicated she was busy with another customer. This restaurant will never get the privilege of patronage.

I really enjoy it here; it’s low key and relaxed, but also polished and on-point. A good all-rounder which is perfectly located just off the hurly-burly of Marylebone. The set menu is sneaky, so here’s the PRO-TIP: it’s available every day of the week but is something you often have to *ask* for. And ask you should! For 13.50 you can have 2 courses(a selection of 4-ish options per starter and main). For 16.50(I think I’m quoting this correctly) you can have the two courses plus a glass of wine to quaff it all down with. It’s not a bad deal, and options for mains include whole fish, bavette steak and a vegetarian tart. There are many other things to enjoy at Aubaine, however. I am generally more excited by their starter and sharing options; big salads with nuts and seeds and avocado and bacon(the good offsets the not-so-good, right?). Chunky vegetable soup(if you’re lucky to have it as a soup of the day). Sharing plates of ham and cheese and crudite or — as I’d recommend — the platter of paprika-spiked calamari, mozzarella cheese, ham, gem lettuce salad and proscuitto. The bread is on point. Get the bread, eat the bread, revel in the bread. Desserts are house-made and presented on a slate platter in a «look at the range of options for you!!!». I like this; I know it’s corny, but it reminds me of the 80s(IN A GOODWAY, NATCH). I don’t have a major sweet tooth, but: I’ve had ice cream here: delicious. I’ve had a moist riff-on-a-pound cake here, studded with pistachios. Yes, get that, get that. Service great, online reservation system easy-peasy…all ’round a great option in Marylebone. Unilocal note: if you ask for cream with your coffee you get clotted cream so I mean: !!! /GIF OF A CATLICKINGITSPAWS

We really enjoyed our Valentine’s Day dinner here. As Brian C said, we each had the same food — a salad with some ham, a mushroom risotto, and a chocolate millefeuille for two for dessert. As it was a special Valentine’s Day menu, it wasn’t cheap at £38 per person, and the courses were, to be honest, pretty small — but they were quite rich, the dessert especially, and we didn’t leave hungry! The highlight, after the lovely staff, was the beautiful freshly baked bread and butter. I would have loved some more(should have asked!) and next time I come, I’ll make sure I do. The salad was a bit plain, but tasty, with the hazelnuts providing a bit of a crunch. The risotto was really nice — very full of truffle and ceps, and creamy. There was a bit of bite but in a good way(I hate undercooked risotto!). And the dessert was almost too beautiful to cut into and could only have been made better by coming with a little pot of crème anglaise, instead of just the little bit that I couldn’t get off the slate that was probably just decoration. Tasty, tasty decoration. I hope to return here, or to another branch, and try more things!

We came here for a valentines day dinner, having never visited before. I knew this was a small chain, but it didn’t feel like a chain restaurant in any way — it all felt very personal. The interior is charming, and the staff were very polite. We decided to go for the special valentines day menu and ended up choosing the exact same dishes. So we both had a salad with French ham to start, followed by a truffle and cep risotto and we had the Mille fillue to finish. The salad was nice, good dressing but were surprised when other tables had their salads presented in a different manner. I really enjoyed the risotto — so much so that I think I ate it in under two minutes. This did not delight my sweetheart who are hers at a normal speed. The dessert was good but very rich! I was impressed and would recommend this place to others. They even gave us a jar of jam to apologise for some confusion over the menu — you would get that sort of touch from a chain restaurant!

The set menu is great value, a great meal for £10 or not much more. It is like going to a far more expensive restaurant for a budget price. The décor is well kept, new, a great design and a nice place to be. During the day the set menu is easy to see and was in the table, in the evening less well advertised and we might have even had to ask the waiter for it? The a la carte menu and more expensive dishes are okay, basically because at the higher prices they are fine. The quality of the ingredients, portion sizes are fine for the price, but only just. The more expensive bits such as meat in the £18 burger is suprisingly small. The food is nicely cooked, presented and prepared though. The £10 value fixed menu is 5 stars The normal a la carte menu 4 stars.

Loved this French place. Light interior, terrace outside. Wide open space. Farmers market in front on Sunday. Great breakfast.
