This is a chain coffee shop. If you like the chain in general, there is no reason you wouldn’t like this specific location. There is plenty of seating and it is conveniently located to get a coffee to go while out shopping or on your way to the train station.

Yep, I am American, and supposed to be looking for Starbucks everywhere I go, right? But recently, looking through , I found that I am actually Scottish, Irish and English mostly, so I figure it is OK to venture out and try a local chain. This local chain has Starbucks beat on coffee, I have to say. I will still head to Starbucks nearly every day in the US, or somewhere strange like the Philippines when I want a taste of home. But in London, Café Nero is my fav.

They insist on having the massive windows open whenever the sun comes out Because everyone enjoys the Balham traffic so much?

The main thing to say about this Café Nero is that it’s a shame it has muscled in on the independent cafes and coffee shops around Balham. It’s on the main strip of Balham high street and easy and convenient to pop into for a takeaway coffee. In my opinion the coffee here is slightly better than Starbucks, proper stronger coffee! You can get the usual cakes and toasted sandwiches and it’s big enough to sit in to read the paper or watch the world go by. With Bertie and Boo right opposite though I’m not sure why you would opt for Café Nero.
