Very nice seafood, immaculate service, but the atmosphere is not my cup of tea. Just a bit too big a nod towards the likings of the bankers in the surrounding areas. In all, not an unpleasant evening, but for the money I would probably go somewhere else next time. You really can’t fault the kitchen; from simple cold platters, a bouillabaisse that rivals any in France to perfectly grilled fillets of fish, everything we tried was very tasty. The service was attentive without being over eager and the wine suggestions spot on. But at £20-£25 for a main(plus £4 per side), I would not expect any less. And sitting in what is intrinsically the lobby of a posh hotel made me feel like a stranger in my own town. Stone floors and crystal chandeliers are not exactly the sort of decoration that make for a relaxed atmosphere.

Posh. Chic. Sexy. Expensive. If you can afford the first three descriptive words then the fourth should not bother you. Met a friend here after work for a drink on Thursday. 8 minutes after ordering from the bar and my pocket £10 lighter, I was delivered with a world-class Dirty Martini that drew a smile from ear to ear.

Went the other night and as part of Restaurant Week had a set menu for £25/person(3 course + a glass of champagne). Wonderful food, amazing service, and beautifully decorated. I wanted to spend the entire evening at Catch enjoying myself. I do agree with the other reviewer – one needs to know how to de-bone a cooked fish. Also, this place screams ££££ but I cannot attest to it as I only saw the set menu. Lastly, this is for a true seafood/fish lover. Anything less, it wouldn’t be worth the price.

Apparently this place used to be called«Fishmarket». It is incredibly nice and swank. Everything is this sort of mellow oceanic blue. If you like good seafood, impeccable service, and an atmosphere/ambience that doesn’t miss, this is your place. I had the whole lemon sole, and my partner had traditional fish and chips, but it was nothing short of remarkable. Bring your wallet though, this place is HARD on the wallet. Sort of like Ruth’s Chris, but for seafood. P. S. please be sure you know how to eat a «whole» fish prior to ordering it. Ahem. I didn’t, and the first few minutes of my entrée’s arrival could have been a made for TV moment had it not been for my partner, who found it all quite amusing– then, proceeded to show me how to eat the doggone fish.

** Fishmarket is now replaced by the name«Catch & Champagne Bar». For the seafood lover with a high nose, I recommend no other place than Fishmarket! Housed in the former Great Eastern Hotel(now Andaz Liverpool Street London Hotel) and located in the busyness of Liverpool Street station, the restaurant itself is a serene oasis to relax over great fish and gobble up crustaceans. The dining room is grandiose — it sort of feels like dining at one of the rooms at Versailles. Sipping champagne and eating oysters in relaxation — what more can you ask for?
