Amazing place to work! If you like walking around with your mac looking for good out of house work spots like coffee shops then look no further! Plenty of space around, electricity plugs and relaxed atmosphere and in a very convenient location. Coffee is good, food is equally good(but not that exciting yet –although improving quickly!!). Staff is really friendly, and if you are local I believe you can get some sort of community/local discount. Will definitely come again. (Updated review) This place has improved quite a lot! Food has gotten much much better with greater choices. Staff is also incredibly nice. I would say one of the best«non trendy» coffee places around aldgate. Recommended for that coffee fueled work afternoon!

Robust food and café menu with lots of cozy seating. Stumbled across this place while passing through the area. It has an inviting look and a clean comfortable feel inside. It’s the kind of place you could hope up in for hours, indulging in some food and drink while you read or get some work done.

Having some time to kill after lunch and a wander around Spitalfields on a cold day, we decided to come to Java U to kill some time. It was a Saturday afternoon and large, bright space was pretty empty, but it looked clean and had a few comfy chairs. I settled in with my huge hot chocolate, and I enjoyed it very much. I’ve had better hot chocolates, but I’ve had much worse. Java U seemed to have lots of places to sit and work, plenty of natural light, and all in a convenient location on Commercial Street. A bit of Google work shows me that this is actually a chain from Montréal, and this seems to be the first UK location. The menu looked pretty short and as a non-coffee drinker, I can’t testify for the quality. A nice place for us today to wile away an hour, looking out the window and using some free wifi without being hassled. One to keep an eye on for the future, I think!
