Without a doubt my favorite bar in London. Amazing selection of beers from all around the world– some of which are incredibly rare or limited batch. The food is incredible as well, I have never left disappointed. Not too expensive, but it can get pretty crowded towards the end of the day.

Really very impressed with the ciabatta steak sandwich & Troubadour IPA… and also the funny, friendly & very cute server. The sandwich was juicy, crunchy & very fresh, and I was offered a taste of the beer before ordering a pint. Great place for lunch. I’ll be back for another couple of drinks one evening I expect

A favourite of mine. Evil people took Floris Mango off the menu but it remains a place I return to for a relaxed non hipster, non overpriced night out. Fish goujons were great with the beer flight!

Came here for the first time and had a late lunch — we all got moules which came with dutch fries(skinny), yum! Also a bread platter to soak up the soup. The mussels were tasty, broth was delicious. Loaaaads of beer available. My wine was lovely. Think this is meant to be a Dutch themed pub? But the décor looks British… Still very cute and staff were friendly.

This is a classic 3.5-starer. Maybe 3 is harsh, 4 is generous. Great range of belgian beers on tap, but pub has gone down the path of trying to be all gastro-pubby but the food is really average and makes the place all smell of chips.

The range of beers and ales here never seems to amaze. They even have a banana flavoured ale(as disgusting as it sounds). The service is prompt, friendly and efficient. The space is generous for a Drury Lane location. The walls are painted with logos of large and old Belgian breweries. There are long tables that can be shared by smaller groups or used entirely by large parties. The tables have coat hooks. They even have three ceiling fans on three corners of the wooden grooved ceiling. There is a beautiful golden framed mirror on the wall next to the main bar area, with mirror tiles on it. The food menu is Belgian. Dutch fries, ham and cheddar cheese croquettes, sausage, cheese and bread snacks. Beef sausages, slow cooked pork, halloumi Milanese and beer battered goujons. Pretty much pub fare. Average to good in quality. The drinks menu is divided into Draught, Amber/Dark Beers, Blonde/Golden Ales, Abbey beers, and flavoured beers. Incredible range. Highly recommended for a possibly pseudo authentic Belgian experience.

I’ve been to the Netherlands. I drank and ate my fukin face off in Amsterdam, Bruges and Brussels. This pub, smack dab in the middle of London, reminded me of my trysts in tall-person-land(Amsterdam has the tallest people — Gospel of Paul, bruv). As for the beers, they have a nice variety of Belgian options. If you’ve not tasted Belgian ales… like real ales… this place is a good starter. High alcohol content = fun witcha mates. As for the fare, obviously, you have to try the mussels. I ate mussels urryday in Amsterdam and I shit you not, this pot o’ lovelies can stand with the best of them. As for the décor, it still looks London-traditional and it is quite cozy prior to the post-work London crowd entering. It can get rowdy. And by «can», I mean, «will». Once again, I am schoolin y’all Americans on my international game. Keep hoping and maybe one day, you’ll travel, eat and drink like a bawss(aka Louis R). No chance, ya mugs.

Nice belgian beercafe with decent non British pub-food which is a delightful change. Good range of beers of draft and even though there’s neither a very cosy nor a grand café feeling, it’s definitely a great bar for a few stronger belgian beers

We booked a reservation for 15 on a Thursday and they gave us the entire upstairs area for the whole night! The employees are super nice, and when we came in with 20 people, they happily accommodated us. I was concerned about the bill since figuring out how to split between 20 people would be difficult, and they happily solved that by giving us bar service. Everyone ordered at the bar downstairs but the food was brought upstairs. I got the half chicken and it was a little dry, but the presentation was lovely and the taste was good too. If I go back next time, I’d definitely want to try the mussels. The BEER! I fell in love with fruit beer when I went to Belgium and they have a good assortment of Belgian fruit beer here. I’d go back just for a beer with friends. They also had a pre-theatre menu set but I didn’t get it. Would try next time!

This place was great. I was totally satisfied with my beer and mussels. But really I have to give special kudos to the server and the bar staff, who after I was repeatedly harassed by another customer(while dining alone), stepping in and told him to back off, since he didn’t seem to be listening to me. Thanks for taking care of this customer!

One of favourite pubs in london! Fantastic beer selection(so many to choose from). A nice relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food is very tastey although the only draw back is that the chips with the fish and chips are frozen ones and honestly not great — but regadless i love this bar.

If you love a good beer and like to enjoy it in a nice atmosphere this is the place to go to! Service is really friendly. The Lowlander has an excellent selection of beer on tap as well as on bottle and they are servered in a really lively environment. The place can get crowded but that only adds to the atmosphere and even when it’s busy the friendly waitresses take the time to serve you. When I go back to London I will definitely go back to the Lowlander. The food is really good as well.

We unexpectedly found ourselves in London 2 years later and again had a hankering for a Belgian beer joint. Decided to give Lowlander another go and am certainly pleased with the decision. Second time around it was everything we had hoped(and more) on the initial visit. Tried a variety of their tapped and bottled selections. Most of the beers we can get in Dallas, but they had a few we hadn’t tried. Fish and chips for dinner — hey, we were there only a few nights. :) Obvs we just had bad luck a few years ago. If you’re a beer snob, it is perfection. Next time I find myself in London, will go out of my way to return.

Lowlander is a great pub. Easy to get to and with an extensive beer menu. They have guest lists of beers that are always changing. As a fan of Belgian beer this was the perfect spot to come to. We had mussels and pulled pork. The pulled pork was flavorful and had a wonderful side of coleslaw. Only issues was if it’s busy do not expect a very attentive waitress(fair enough and understandable) and incredibly loud. Lots and lots of yelling. Nice interior though and as mentioned before great beer options.

My review echoes that of a few others: Food NO, Drinks YES! The food left a lot to be desired; it’s poor quality and way over priced. …but DO come here for drinks and friendly service. Really fantastic selection of beer from around the world, nice Belgian café ambiance.

I’m not a big beer fan but since my boyfriend’s Belgian I enjoy trying the things he loves to do. Drinking beer is in his blood, and he actually bartended here before getting settled with his full-time job. His love of this place influenced me. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and you can either sit and relax, or stand by the bar and be loud. I personally like the sit on the comfy chairs opposite the bar and get food… they have great mussels with butter sauce and a filling meat platter, which is great to share with friends. I always order the fruit beer but they are known to have a diverse selection of Belgian beer. Sometimes it gets packed and rowdy but it’s a cozy place to go in a group since the setting is very welcoming and the beer choices are limitless. The staff are also very nice… overall I always had a good time here.

This place gets 5 stars for the beer list alone. I’m a huge fan of Belgian beer and this place has a huge selection. There should be something to suit everyone taste… even if you don’t normally drink beer. The bar is a large split level space and is quite bright and spacious compared with your standard london drinking holes. We got the truffle and Parmesan fries which were excellent, if not a touch oily, buts that’s good thing when your beer is 11% alcohol.

Lowlander exceeded my expectations, both for its beer and food. Beer-wise, it had a good range. Much of which I recognised from my days in Brussels, and some that I didn’t. They also had an unusually excellent house wheat beer, which I happily guzzled a couple of pints of alongside other favourites of mine such as Tripel Karmeleit. I liked the option to try 3×1÷3 pints of different beer, although I didn’t take advantage of it. True to Belgian beer, it was pricey, but that just comes with the territory. The food was much better than other reviews would have you believe too. I went for a not-so-Belgian(unless you count it as stoempe) Cumberland sausages, gravy and mash, which was perfectly decent. I then followed it with a waffle and scoop of ice cream which was okay but probably out of a packet. Also worth mentioning is the high-ceilinged interior, reminiscent of the similarly styled bars in Brussels. The service could have been slightly better, but I can still happily declare myself a fan of this place.
