Great Sunday roast! They show football and the service is really nice and helpful. Also good selection beer. They change what’s on tap quite reguralry.

When British Museum sightseeing fatigue hit, we stumbled into the Prince of Wales for a place to sit down and get a classic pub lunch. For a quick, low-key lunch and drink, we thought this place was just fine and a decent value. We were there after the main lunch rush, so it was pretty quiet — there was music playing, but low enough that you could still have a conversation. You order food at the bar and they bring it out to your table, along with drinks. We had draft cider, the roast beef lunch platter, and the fish and chips. The roast beef and onions were excellent, but the Yorkshire pudding was unremarkable(then again, I’ve never had a phenomenal one). Service was quick and cordial, and lunch was about $ 15/person, as I recall. The inside looks pretty much exactly like you’d picture an English pub: wooden bar and rails, patterned wallpaper, and olde-tymey light fixtures and chandeliers. Very cozy and charming for gawking tourists like us! We enjoyed our lunch here and it got us back on our feet for the rest of a long day of sightseeing and walking.

A fun pub to hang out at with really yummy food. It’s not too over priced either and the staff is super helpful. But I will say they dont particularly like it when you linger. After Id finished my drink and was sitting with friends just chatting they made it clear they expected us to order more or leave! Quick turn over, but otherwise a nice place to grab a pint.

The atmosphere in here is great, real craic as the barman is from the west of Ireland and was most welcoming, friendly and chatty. The food and service was very good. The only reason for no 5th star is that I could have eaten more than was on my plate, but due to budget we weren’t able to pay for dessert. Good beers, varied menu.

I’m going to say this pub is ok. The place is nicely located and has a fair space for customers. The bar selection is good and they have some friendly staff. I was here for the champions league final which came with problems of having too many people in the pub to serve adequately. However it seemed like a good place and the food that went past did look quite good. This is the sort of place I call standard middle of the road. Nothing amazing, but nothing to complain about either.

Great pub, covered in flowers, in the heart of theatreland, with a great history(see my photo of the plaque) It is warm & cosy in winter & cool in the heat of summer. My great great great grandmother, Rebecca, lived a few doors away at 140 Drury Lane in 1862, so this is a special pub for me. I like to imagine her husband, Joseph Green, a cabinet maker, drank in here in those days too.

To be perfectly honest, this bar was a bit of a blur, but I do remember enjoying being there. Check it out!

The Covent Market Apple Market can be a hot mess, and those obnoxious street performers certainly aren’t helping. It’s good to have pubs off the beaten path. At the Prince of Wales the bar staff is polite, there are clean restrooms, outdoor seating is ‘a plenty and, last but not least, there’s Hoegaarden on tap. All good things.

I used to work round the corner and this was our pub. Its bustling, popular, it could do with a lick of paint and even 10 years later the ladies loo is still a disgrace. But it has an atmosphere of its own, it always feels good to be back here. The food is stodge central, and if that’s what you want, fill your boots.

A Nicholsons pub with a lot of beer clips on the wall behind the bar suggesting that they do on occasion serve some interesting beers. If anything this made it even worse that I was faced with just a couple of pumps actually active, pride and directors, it was like the random clips were taunting me. I think I came a bad time on a bad night, it was packed(although the service was OK), uncomfortable and I guess they had run out of some beers(although the turned around clips were not any more interesting than the ones in service). I would probably have leftbut I felt I had to try before I decry, so I had a quick ‘alf. I’ll pop my head round again some timemaybe.

This is a great looking pub with a sensationally traditional menu that had me salivating from the word go. There are so many platters for sharing, or if you are like me, for eating on your own. They range from £7-£11. For a central London boozer the prices are impressive. I had a good chat with whom seemed to be the bar manager. He was a nice guy. I felt very much at home here, and was glad I arrived just before the lunch rush so I could be happy in my seat. The Prince of Wales clearly takes Christmas seriously too, because the decorations woud make Santa himself proud. This is a great all round traditional pub, with ample seating, plenty of tables for sampling the great menu, and happy attentive staff. I’ll be back.

When I entered this magical tinsel-tastic time-warp, it didn’t take long to navigate Santa’s little workshop and find my buddy perched in a corner. He had ordered the«Sharers Sampler Platter,» or something of the sort, which involved wings, sausages, nachos, salad, potatoes, and many other unidentifiable fried delights on a plate that could have doubled as the moon. It was big. My friend ordered this for himself. I nibbled on one of his potato wedges(from an overflowing pile) that was nearly the size of my face, and was full the rest of the day. Not sure what this review has to do with the pub, so here’s a tidbit: I noticed quite a few real ales on the menu. Yay. Just watch out for the tourists who descend upon this little spot by the busfull.

There’s plenty of pubs to choose in the area, so why would you choose this one over the others? Well, it helps that it actually has a large amount of sidewalk space on both sides that let’s people cascade out in the summertime, but it also has a large amount of space on the inside. There’s nothing particularly special about the drinks they serve, or the food that they have but it’s a nice spacious pub inside that’s reasonable in all seasons. They did have a couple of limited seasonal ales, though they’d already run out of three of them by then, and only had some of the more tasteless commercial brews around.

This pub ticks a lot of boxes– a good british pub, with an average selection of drinks and crisps. Nothing outstanding, but a great place for a drink when it’s raining or after work. If you are in the erae and fancy a pint, I would give it a go!

Very quaint & comfortable pub in the heart of London. Tucked between the highly trafficked Covent Garden Market area and Kingsway, you will usually find that a lot of tourists miss the place, giving it a more laid back atmosphere than places such as the Nags Head in the middle of Covent Garden. I live next door and it’s definitely my favorite pub in the area. Great food and a good selection of pints!
