Food was good but the service was extremely slow. I think it took us more than an hour before the food came. My husband ordered the famous fish and chips and I got steak platter — both of them were great. However, food came so late that we just wanted to eat it and get out…

This pub is always packed and lively all week long. It is in a very good location near Victoria Station and the venue itself looks quite nice. However, every single time I’ve been there, there was a strong presence of a highly unpleasant smell, which I honestly cannot identify, but for sure it is what keeps me from visiting again. I’m quite surprised that people, in general, don’t seem to notice anything about it at all, as it’s a pretty strong and annoying smell by my standards.

Found this place as it was close to our hotel in London. We stopped in for a drink and found a great dining room below that was quiet and inviting. Had a great meal of Steak and Ale pie.

Lovely place we found randomly on our way to Victoria station! It had a great special on breakfast. 2 full English breakfasts for 12 pounds. You can’t beat that in the middle of London!!! Lovely staff, quick service and we came back that night for a few pints. The Guinness was lovely and the atmosphere and décor is very English. A cosy traditional pub that we would totally recommend to locals and tourists :-)

We visited here during a trip to London, and opted for steak and ale pies served with mash and veg. Lovely food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere! Would return next time I’m in London.

First trip to London. Saw the reviews on Unilocal and were headed by Victoria Station. Good choice. The food was good, service was good and we were able to get in around 7 pm on a Monday without a wait. We had the Fish and Chips and the Steak Pie. Both were very good. The tomato soup was ok and the macaroni and cheese was great, according to the kids.

We went for some drinks at around lunch time. Service: service was ok. Ambience: It has a cool interior. Lots of locals come here to get a drink or some business men(probably before going on the train as the train station is close by) negative point is that most of the tables are made for standing people. so if you want to sit down the table almost goes till your chin which is uncomfortable and you feel like a dwarf.

We love the St. George’s Tavern! We have had traditional English Breakfast which was great when we were visiting London in 2010. Now we are back in town and have gone twice more. The fish and chips are some of the best in town, the Steak and Ale Pie is divine and you have to get the Treacle Sponge or Plum Crumble. You can’t go wrong whatever your choice! As if great food was not enough the service is awesome! Everyone there is extremely friendly and make you feel so welcome. They all have a great sense of humor and can joke around and have a good time with guests. If you are in London near Victoria you have to give St. George’s Tavern a try. We will be back to London in September with friends and are already planning to eat there again!

Of all the pubs we ate at while we were in London this was the best. Location is just down the street from Victoria station.

I hate here twice during my stay in London and it was mostly due to the proximity of my hotel, but in all honesty, we all know that the Brits aren’t known for their food. Coming from LA I wasn’t expecting much and this was my saving grace. The fish n chips were so freaking good, and I’m not a fan of fish! Forget what I had the second day but my boo had the pot pie and devoured it. All in all, if you’re visiting from the US I would recommend it. The service was on point as was the food. Enjoy!

Cozy atmosphere and good grub in Churchill’s dining room downstairs at St George’s Tavern in the shadow of Victoria Station. We were four tired American backpackers including our 78-year-old mother and 7-year-old son! There is no easy way to tell if kids are allowed in certain pubs after certain times, and we were welcomed without issue here. There is no kids menu, and so our picky son had the Steak Frites, which is a thin, well-seasoned steak and chips. He ate every bite. Friendly and accommodating staff served up their homebrewed ale alongside satisfying traditional and tasty fare. Had an English Ploughman, cheese and cracker platter with breads and spreads, usually a dessert but I had it as a meal! Thoroughly enjoyed the Tomato and Davidstow Cheddar soup with herbed oil and a giant ciabatta slice. The Peri-Peri chicken wing appetizer with bleu cheese was meaty and had just the right kick. The Fish and Chips were perfectly battered and a great representative of this classic London dish. Topped it all off with an absolutely delectable Sticky Toffee Pudding our mouths will water for forever. At every turn, we enjoyed this charming pub. Enough to do something we avoid on vacation — we ate there twice.

This pub will hold a certain fondness in my heart. This pub was located around the corner from our apartment that we rented for a week. It was the sight of my first pint in London, celebrating the beginning of an exciting week in the city. On several occasions during the course of the week, we would make this our home base for meeting my travel companions as we criss-crossed the city soaking in all that is great about London. One of my travel companions raved about the fish and chips. While it is a relatively standard Nicholson’s pub, I enjoyed it nonetheless. The staff behind the bar was extremely attentive and friendly. The waitresses were equally kind. As pub food goes, I was pleased with my lunch choice. One of my friends ordered a vegetable tart which was definitely the best of our three lunch choices. Should I return, I would definitely order that! The pub has a few outdoor seats when the weather is nice. Additionally, the pub has free wi-fi, which was helpful as a visitor to the city. Given its close proximity to Victoria station, I got the impression that this was equally visited by both tourists and locals.

Stopped by here to do a bit of work and quite enjoyed the tap lineup. Standard Nicholson’s menu, nice interior, and a formal dining room. I won’t go out of my way to return, but I’d happily stop by next time I’m in Victoria.

This pub is right by my office so a lot of people go here after work. When the weather is nice it can get very busy, with people standing all round the pub on the pavement. They have started to push you back behind a line so people dont take over the whole pavement which can get a bit annoying. Inside it often takes a while to get served but they have a reasonable selection of ales and lagers. There is a separate restaurant area at the back which has tables for sitting and eating. This is a Nicholsons pub, so they specialise in Sausages and Mash, they also do other standard pub fayre. There is also a bar downstairs which has some sofas and more tables, this area often gets overlooked when its busy so it can be a bit more relaxed.

I liked St. Georges. We stopped by for breakfast the other day and got a great deal on a huge English breakfast that was good for 2 people and cost a mere 4.50 pounds. The food was standard and not the best I’ve ever had, but it was fresh and quickly served. Reminded me of what you’d get a good NY diner. The décor is fairly basic, and the atmosphere looked to be a mix of tourists and locals. Overall the vibe was about what you’d expect from a local pub situated in an area with a lot of Hotels and whatnot. And finally, the service was friendly and pleasant. I’d go back without hesitation.
