I felt sure I’d written this review already, but can’t find it, so here it goes again! Taste Of Raj is my local Indian restaurant and Takeaway, and it’s a real little gem of a place, one of the best kept secrets in Chiswick. It deserves your support and your business, as it is so tucked out of the main trawl that it seems a bit quite at times. I have eaten in the restaurant and picked up a takeaway from there. From the outside it looks a bit off putting as it has darkened glass. I wish they would change this as it makes it look uninviting. However, once inside, you won’t regret it. The one thing I really like about TOR is the service. The waiter is always really friendly, opening the door, taking your coat etc. They also have a bring your own booze policy, and you don’t have to pay a corkage fee which is excellent! They have a note on their menu that if there is something you want that isn’t listed, the chef will be able to prepare it for you, which is a great asset! I love the Lamb Korma, and Chicken Passanda. The naan breads are always fresh and so yummy, and the mango lassi they sell is delicious! If you are waiting for a takeaway, they give you complimentary poppadums and there are lots of newspapers for you to peruse while you wait. Not only that, but the waiter opens the door for you on your way out. Recently(in this little parade of 8 or so shops) another Indian restaurant has opened a few doors down. The other restaurant is much more expensive, but it’s décor is fresh and modern. I can’t help but feel a bit sorry for TOR as it has been here for a very very long time, but I think that they should try and up their gain and have a bit of a makeover too. getting rid of the dark windows would be a start!
