Excellent takeaway. I’m very glad they’ve build this branch of the restaurant it’s close to my place and brought us a constant option for dinner.

I adore Wong Kei’s and always head for it if we are in London, or just come down purely to eat there. The restaurant was recommended to me some time ago & I was glad I listened. Had I been just mooching around Chinatown I admit I probably wont have chosen this restaurant. Very good value for money, last time it cost us £34 for a family of 4. Food is tasty, the surroundings arnt beautiful but the atmospehere is great and if you like your food in a hurry well then this is perfect. If there is only a couple of you then you may well have to share a table. Havnt noticed rudeness from the waiters they are just very very busy — its a great place to people watch and just watching the waiters can be exhausting. We generally go early in the evening and there is always a queue waiting to come in when we leave.

Wong Kei, is of a dying breed. It’s a bit of a nostalgia trip, as the type of chinese takeaway food is the kind that you would get in the 80s. Maybe it’s MSG, maybe it’s the flourescent sweet and sour sauce and pork, prawn or chicken balls, but it’s a bit old school chinese food, and I like it for that reason. The ladies who work there are always pleasant, and the food is prepared very quickly, so you never have to wait long. I think there is even an old masterchef certificate on the wall, which always makes me smile. The food is cheap and great value if you’re on a budget and fancy a little takeaway treat, but don’t expect the earth, and you won’t be disappointed!
