Another pub for the locals of Soho rather than the tourists. It’s not a bad place, they have one or occasionally two ales and the usual lagers. It’s an old world London boozer but Berwick Street is still mostly an old world London street. This is another place to include on your beer tour of Soho’s less popular places. It doesn’t really feel Soho, it does feel like the sort of pub that catered for the ordinary people of central London, when ordinary people could still afford to live in it. Which due to the social housing on this street, they can.

Monopoly Pub Crawl — Stop #12 — Piccadilly(Yellow) It was time to tackle a new color group and the Blue Posts seemed a fitting stop. It’s hard to think of Piccadilly as a «Yellow» given most Londoners would automatically associate it with blue(thanks very much TfL) and even more so when the pub is blue too. But anyways, that’s neither here or there and completely irrelevant. The pub is a bit small but does the best with the available space. From recollection(which is getting hazy by now), the bartender wasn’t thrilled to see us but grudgingly accepted that the majority of customers he was likely to see were crawlers. Given the location, I can’t imagine many people will stumble across this place and I’ve cycled every street in this area without noticing it. Overall, it’s actually a very comfortable place to sit down and rest tired feet which unfortunately isn’t a good idea for a time pressured crawl. There was nothing on offer that stood out so I assume it had the standard ales and lagers with a few wines in the cooler behind the bar. The toilets are down some steps so be careful if you’ve had a few!

An old man’s pub look with organic beer, locally sourced crisps and a decidedly younger clientele. You do have the odd local(read: old man) in the pub. But it’s pretty much a twenty something hangout.

What is good about Blue Posts? That there was breathing space on a Saturday night, even able to have a seat to enjoy our drinks. I was ona tipsy rum run that night, and to be honest, there isn’t much more to describe. A nice enough pub to visit for a few beers and a good chat, so works as well as such.

A useful pub with an upstairs you can hire. Tucked down a side road, it is central but not too crowded so great for organising a meet up for a large number. Friendly.

A proper old Soho pub. Good beer, interesting people to watch and toilets hidden behind a door marked ‘Private’. I think you can eat too but I’ve not done that yet. Well worth a visit.

Yeah, this pub is alright. Certainly ticked all the boxes on Friday night anyway. What are my boxes? Busy enough to be fun? Check. Still space to breathe? Check. Good selection of drinks? Check. Pear cider? Check(twice, because it’s yummy). Friendly staff? Check. One of the barmaids was a bit doddery and messed up a couple of orders, but y’know, the old folk here are part of its charm. And when a horrid man letched over my and my friend, we were rescued rather chivalrously by one of the gents who worked here. His name is Maurice. He was cool. So was his friend John, who’s quite the cook apparently. If you won’t somewhere fun and cosy on Friday where shots at the bar aren’t a prerequisite, then come here. Shame they only have one tiny ladies loo, otherwise they might have got five stars out of me. I really like it here.
