Nice relaxed atmosphere from the hustle of Oxford Street. Good music and lovely staff. Nice wine menu and plenty of on tap choices too.

Great pub. Small but lively. Love it. Staff are friendly and very clean bar. Upstairs seating and can drink outside but drinks would have to be in plastic cups!

One of the pubs I use when I’m in Townwhen my Lyn is doing her thing in the West End! I’ve always found it an ok pub but often quiet when I go in. I’ve mainly used it on Saturday lunchtimes but I imagine it could be busy in the week. Staff quite pleasant, serve you pretty quickly and with a smile. I like the areareminds me of when my Dad used to take me up West from Lambeth. happy days!

This was an interesting spot to have one beer and disappear. It seemed populated by locals — as if I know — and there was a decent looking girl passed out in a corner(it was like nine o’clock at night and she was out for the count) surrounded by her all-dressed-up-with-nowhere-to-go friends and some red-blooded lads looking to follow them to wherever it was they were going — the unconscious drunk friend always telegraphs easy prey, so kudos to them. The beers weren’t exactly good, but the crowd was friendly enough.

Since I started working around the corner, I’ve been here a few times and it’s always been a pretty good experience, the staff are friendlyand the beer is good so they’ve already taken care of the most important factors. One of the more unique qualities it posesses is the range of bar snacks on offer as aside from your run of the mill peanut it also offers ‘Wasabi Peas’ which are fast becoming my drug of choice. I must also mention that the future seems bright for ‘The George’ as the barman/manager informs me that they are cutting the carling barrels loose and rolling in Staropramen in its place.

Bearable for half an hour while you are waiting for a bar down the road to open, but not much more. The George should not really be called a pub. More precisely it is a room, with too brighter light, minimal bar and a bad choice of music channel playing on the multiple TVs. The bouncer on the door creates some air of importance and it is a popular choice with the locals but the majority of people coming in either just want a pint, and quickly or to use the toilet to readjust their makeup. Not the best pub in my opinion.

Nestled on the corner or Wardour Street in the heart of Soho, The George is a surprisingly down to earth old pub unchanged by it’s more illustrious near neighbours. Nonetheless it gets very busy at weekends as you’d expect, and seems to get quite a few post-work drinkers in the week. Drinks are by no means cheap, but this is central London so they’re perfectly acceptable, and The George could well be a welcome break from the manic vibrancy of the local nightlife. The exterior is pretty much original which is impressive as the pub has been in existence for over a hundred years, and parts of the interior too have been well preserved. If you’re looking for a no frills pub in a notoriously frilly area, The George is a good option and should be congratulated for sticking to its Victorian heritage.

It was rather the quiet side of the George when I got there. I found it quite nice but simple. Inside OK. Staff friendly. Two(working) handpumps. I wasn’t really impressed but I also found nothing bad or worth to complain.

Now the George is a place of great contrast, paradox, mix, opposites and all that and more. On the occasion of some bawdy soccer game, or a rugger off the place will be busy, loud and as welcoming as rain at a barbecue. However, when it’s quiet, which is fairly often, the George is quite a little oasis in a very busy area. Against all odds one can almost always be assured of a seat, especially in the current climate as the hordes stand outside. The George has an old London feel, but for the(not too imposing) screens on the walls. The bar is centrally located and is a lovely old traditional wooden beauty. The décor hints at times gone by, you could almost hear the spirits of pissed up old gin queens during quieter moments. There’s well kept real ale on offer, Bombadier and Courage Best if I remember correctly, and a good range for the lager boys. The staff were friendly and it’s always pleasent to be served by the landlord rather than a clueless young scamp. The pub itself is quite small, so it’s not ideal for large groups, and can fill up fast on occasion. For a quiet pint in traditional public house surroundings the George suits just fine.
