My new favourite Weatherspoons! I was actually unaware that it was a Weatherspoon’s until I saw the menu. The building is lovely and they have a wide selection of table seating available throughout. Judging by the photos on here I missed out by not going to the ladies toilets: p

Truthfully I wasn’t going here for the drink or the food. I was attending the regular MathsJam held here every last Tuesday of the month.( ). This is a good, chilled out event well worth attending if you like puzzles of the non word kind. I did however go to order at the bar. There was one person serving and 3 other staff gossiping in the corner. It took the one serving 3 attempts to get the others to serve me and even then they walked over to serve someone else. This is a Wetherspoons bar and the food is of poor Wetherspoons quality. Side note: The ladies bathroom however has amazing décor, and it is huge.

Excellent Fish and Chips. I even enjoyed the mushy peas. Very comfortable place for a Pint and a bite to eat.

Its a weatherspoons, but its a good one, which is becoming harder to find. The interior is very impressive and the basement boasts a very decadent set of toilets. The food does appear suspiciously quickly, but ordering food at a JD’s normally follows a lot of drinking anyway!

If you’re inclined for just a drink, then Knights Templar works great, with its grand space, classical décor and decent drink selection. However, the place traumatized me with its food. I don’t know why I ever ventured from the massive hall into the eating quarters! Their cheesesteak would make Philadelphians tear in crowds and ranks as one of the worst dishes I’ve ever had. It was so greasy that the burnt, disgusting whatever Tesco’s finest and by far cheapest oil they use simmered in my gums and throat for several hours after. And based on what I sampled, their burger didn’t seem much better. For fairness’ sake though, my final review stands at two stars considering the drinking lounge deserves better than just one.

This pub is super cheap and decent as it is a pub chain. I got a Kopparberg Pear cider for 2.99 and you can get a doubled-up pitcher of cocktails for about 11. The apple crumble with custard is also pretty good for bar food. The only complaint is that they shut the coffee/hot chocolate machine off around 9:30. It is a large space with lots of seating, and it is apparently a very historic place. I’ll very likely make a return appearance with my friends.

JDW in an interesting space-what more can be wanted. The lighting was a tad too harsh but that’s a small thing. Overall, this place fares well against the Fuller’s Bank of England on Fleet Street. With prices of £3.30 per pint it is a £1 more than suburban JDWs but that is to be expected for the location. However, it’s over a quid cheaper than other pubs in the area-yes! We came at around 7.30pm on a Wed and there were plenty of seats given the size of the pub. I was not terribly impressed by the beer selection-JDW could always run more guest ales and for God’s sake stop putting«coming soon» signs on pumps-I may not live to see that beer on and want to drink something now!. In this case there were only a couple of guests and the usual suspects(Abbot etc). We had the 13oz sirloin as the 9oz was off. At £13 it was a bit steeper in price but comes with a free beer or wine. To be frank, as you would expect from a relatively cheap and cheerful steak dinner, it isn’t Wagyu and whilst it was edible, the 13oz shone too much of a light on the lack of flavour in the meat. A 9oz is a better bet.

Another J D Wetherspoon pub, but my word what a space! High vaulted ceilings and grand surroundings, it’s nothing like the slightly gloomy drinking dens the chain has been known for elsewhere across the country. I came here with colleagues for a well-needed cheapish lunch after spending a few days in the capital. The food is quite good — you really get what you pay for, no more, no less. For less than a tenner you can enjoy a hearty main course and a drink. It was certainly popular at lunchtime and I’m sure it’s even more so as people leave work for a drink or two, given the value for money. If the ‘interior decorators’ hadn’t somewhat spoiled the walls and ceiling with large, crudely drawn depictions of knights in armour and just let the room remain unembellished, it’d look so much more impressive.

This is the local after work pub. It’s not your typical Wetherspoons. With a grand building, that was actually featured in the Da Vinci Code, and it has lovely grand architecture. The staff are very friendly, and the prices probably the cheapest in the area! This pub has a very large selection of draft beers ales, wines and spirits. You shall not be disappointed!

If Unilocal let me give The Knight’s Templar partial stars, I would rate it at 3.75. It is quite good — it’s nicely appointed with rich rugs, a dark wood bar, and comfy furniture — but there are a couple of misses that make it a «real 4-star». First, the downstairs is so open, it feels empty and a bit cold. Opt instead of the cozier tables upstairs that overlook the main hall. Second, there was this huge sign inside warning the patrons about purse thieves. I’m not sure if they were required to have that sign — maybe there’s been a spate of robberies? — but I found it a bit off putting. They have the standard beer fare, nothing exceptional, but that didn’t sway me too much. Overall, a good place.

What a poorly run pub. They have 12 cask ales displayed but only 2 available. No milk for our tea, no hot chocolate. The bar staff was rude. What a joke. Move on to another pub.

Go for the atmosphere and to sidle up near the bar and order a drink. Great place to stop for a rest if you’re walking to all of the sites near this area. My fiancé and I stumbled upon the Templar Church on a 48 hour tourist spree in London and then had to come by to check this place out. Beautiful architecture and great people watching. Don’t order the Pullman’s platter. Thinking about the jelly-like film on the ham has me a bit nauseous right now. BUT — check out the bathrooms. They are worth the ham!

I can hear your scepticism, 4 stars on a Wetherspoons? Then you have obviously never been to the Knights Templar. I may be biased as I frequent it quite often(having your office 10 meters across the street is dangerous), but this is the best the chain has to offer. There is always a bevy of new featured beers, ciders and ales, and great selection on permanent residency. The building is absolutely gorgeous, huge ceilings, two floors and and loads of seating. And the bathroom… they are the best bathrooms in all of London. Each stall is about the size of my dorm room in Uni. Not to mention a fountain style sink, Grecian statue and a couch. The food is also worth mentioning too. While it may be the standard fare at a «Spoons» it has never been anything than great, piping hot and served quickly. You cannot beat the prices considering a burger meal including beer is cheaper than a lunch at Pret. If you are on Chancery Lane, stop in for a pint, or at least to see the toilets.

This is just another ‘Spoons, but it has THEBESTTOILETSEVER! Tons of stalls, marble countertops, these really cool sinks that are on the sides of pillars(it’s hard to describe, just look at the pictures), lots of full-length mirrors… feel like I’m in the Ritz Carlton, not some pub off Fleet Street. I know that’s a weird thing to be enthusiastic about, but I really appreciate a nicely designed and well-maintained ladies room. It’s the details that count, you know? Everything else about the pub upstairs is pretty standard as far as English pubs go. I may or may not have stopped in here for a tea in the past just to use the loo… Decent prices, decent selection, yummy chips with big portions, the usual. I like the nooks up the stairs of the main room, and they’re bookable — nice for an intimate gathering.

I am not a big pub visitor, but during the last political campaing I participated this pub became our«office». We have been meeting here once a week for a couple of months and enjoyed different tables in different rooms. The pub is very huge, with a ground floor open area with the bar, few upstairs room(one is the family room where childrens are allowed with parents) with a balcony place and a lower ground floor where the toilets are located. It serves good and cheap beers, in particular a few artigianal beers, and food. The club sandwich is tasty and it is my favourite. The burgers are also not bad. the menu includes also healty food and calories indications.

If I had walked by this place by myself I would have sullenly looked in and wished I could dine at this nice restaurant. Lo and behold– it’s a Spoons! Which a lowly, unemployed student such as I can afford. I know it’s a chain, which automatically makes the 5 point mark a little harder to reach but this is my favorite Wetherspoons around. And I have been to quite a few! It’s a gorgeous building which is a converted bank. It features columns on i’s façade and looks like a structure ripped straight out of a travel catalogue of Rome. But that’s not the only thing I like about it. Compared to other Spoons, this one is really clean and the service is fast. I also quite like their guest ales. The place is huge, with rising tiers of seating as you go towards the back. It actually has quite a few patrons fully suited-up, probably due to the affluence of the area. I love the seating in the back amid a mini-library which is cozy and almost un-Spoons-like. But it has all the perks of cheap food and drink and free wi-fi. Next time I go, I’ll be sure to visit the ladies’ loos which sound amazing from the reviews.

Wetherspoons bars are a tricky ones. They are so cheap that you get the crowd that goes with it in most places. But they always have interesting beers on the hand pumps, a decent wine selection, and again very good value for money food. The Knight’s Templar is no exception but the surroundings and the building itself are just outstanding. It is a sight to behold. I always try to squeeze a couple of pints there when I am down Chancery Lane for work.

For the«spoons», its a pretty good place. Its an old bank converted to a pub, lots of space, very bright, good atmosphere. Otherwise, food, drinks and service — just like any other wetherspoons in the city.

I remember passing this place and thinking, I wish I had enough cash to go somewhere so fancy. SURPRISE I DOIT’S A WETHERSPOONS. Although I’m against Wetherspoons on many levels(chain, crappy food, destroying pub culture) I am also pro Wetherspoons on many levels(cheap, reminds me of pre gaming for Oceana aged 18 in Kingston). I am particularly pro this Wetherspoons because it really is a beautiful building. I’m sad, having read the other reviews, that I didn’t visit the ladies toilets, which sound awesome. I had a fairly decent deluxe burger which came with an alcoholic beverage for less than £8. Bar manager was really nice and friendly. Loads of space to sit/stand for groups. Good to know about!
