This seems to be a popular place to stop in after visiting Highgate Cemetery. My friends and I also stopped in after walking across the park to get to it. The place was practically deserted, because we arrived at 3:30 on a Sunday, I suspect. I ordered the fish and chips and a Guinness, which I know is very cliché. I’m not going to say they were necessarily much better than other places in London, but they were about as good as the more touristy places I tried, but were also about half the price of fish and chips I had near Victoria station just a day earlier. Highgate Cemetery can be a bit of a hike, so this is a great place to stop in and whet your whistle.

The Old crown is a fine old big brick building, which has a particularly nice little tower, like a disney castle has, though I wouldn’t say that this pub is the stuff of fairytales. It’s a fairly solid good ol pub in my opinion, not great, but reasonable. The food is fairly good, the toilets are clean and it’s surprisingly bright and airy inside. Just not spectacular, but a decent alternative pub if you’re at a loose end round highgate.
