Nice crisps, shit wine, but can be amusing on certain nights… a local pub for local people strange place yet strangely enjoyable xx

Came here on a Saturday night and the place was only half full. Guess it’s a pretty sleepy area so wasn’t expecting it to be heaving. Plus it made the bar look even bigger than it already is. Seems like a good neighbourhood pub where you can most likely get a seat and talk to people and actually hear them. The music was pretty random with some Rihanna, 80s and even some Bön Jovi mixed in at one point. Drinks are decently priced and the general vibe is very chill. I would come back if I were in the area but it’s not necessarily somewhere I would trek across town to go.

This is a traditional pub. If you need a good solid plate of food that tastes great. The bar staff are friendly and there is a good mix of young and old people. It’s not a gastro pub. It’s not a loud trendy bar but it Is a great place to go to have a good meal and a pint where you can hear yourself think and have a conversation.

As I walked into this pub I was greeted with not only the highest ceilings I’ve ever seen but also the largest bar I’d ever seen! The ceilings, coupled with the ornate iron pillars, give the place the feeling of a old fashioned mainline train station. The over sized bar just made me want to ask for a job so i could test my internal monologues secret cat swinging theory. The problem with a lot of pubs in London is that their decorative appeal is somewhat scuppered by the scruffy and incoherent regulars who occupy them. The Winchester is no exception, but does have enough room so you can avoid them entirely. Bless pub regulars, without them the entire industry may well collapse! So, enter stage right, proceed to extensive bar, purchase beverage, retire to high back chairs in function area and drink until you’re a giggling imbecile… apparently the food’s quite good too but i only tried the giggling thing so…

Unlike The Winchester in Shaun Of The Dead this pub is a bit rubbish… nuff said.

Big pub and apparently also a hotel. Big screens for the sport. My pint of bass was alright and the smell of Fish n Chips set my mouth a wateringbut the Pride was off and the Speckled hen was bad, so I could imagine coming here and finding nothing worth drinking. Perhaps that is why their website says Public house serving excellent foodnot mentioning the beer!

Enter this place and it might look strangely familiar. It will eventually hit you that this place was used in Shaun of the Dead. Just on the Archway Road so not the most attractive of locations but quite a nice pub. They do a good pub quiz here if memory serves correctly.

This is a pub and a hotel mixed into one, and is great if you want a full meal(The serve the best pie, chips and veg) all for a cheap price arund a fiver. It’s never really busy here, so nice if you don’t want a loud, crowded pub. They have a tv, where sports is played, and a separare, though not cut off dining area. They also rent rooms for £50 a night upstairs! This is great place for lovely, filling cheap pub dinners, or even if you want to chat with your friends over a pint of beer, or glass of wine. It’s quite ba laddy pub, with not the best of atmospheres, but I like it. Recommended.
