What a find! After a long evening of Lumiere wandering, my friends and I finished our tour at Kings across and were in dire need of a warm bar with some well-deserved cocktails. We turned a corner to see Caminos and this little cocktail bar and went in. I’m glad we noticed it because it is tucked away from the bustling streets around the station. It was packed but easier to get a table than Caminos, which was the main reason we chose VOC. It was small(the upstairs really opens up for the restaurant) but fun and we had enough time for a round and to grab the last train back. I would absolutely come here again!

Took ages for our food to arrive and was very average! The onion rings were overly greasy and the nachos disappointing.

Went in expecting 4 stars, came out very disappointed. Coke was flat, burgers were way overcooked to the point of being dry and having a salty crust around the outside. Sucked it up, ate it, wished we didn’t. The saving grace was the frickles, which were interesting, but nice.

I’m not entirely sure what to think to be honest… Sure, the place look lovely, in a quirky sort of way. But on the other hand, it wouldn’t really be fair to judge a Burger & Cocktail sort of place when you’ve had wine and chips, would it? So from what I’ve seen, service is decent(they do ask for your card to stay with them if you want to get a tab for the evening though), and everything I tried was good and reasonably priced. Might have to go back to investigate further…

King’s Cross has changed so much over the years, but even I was surprised about this amazing little restaurant quarter just off the Caledonian Rd. At its heart sits VOC. We had booked a space for an office do. it has a really nice vibe and an interesting gothic feel to the interior. It’s not very big but never really felt packed despite a crowd. Service was good and we ordered some nibbles, though not enough given the number of black Sambuca shots we ordered. The chips were thick, crunchy and dry. There was I think only one draft bitter which was a little disappointing though I think the bottled range was extensive. They also do cocktails, even an absinthe one. Recommended.

I’ve worked in King’s Cross for a few years now, and I’ve known this tiny bar in the Regents Quarter ‘zone’ to have undergone at least a couple of makeovers in that time. Its previous incarnation was as ‘Cellar N1( ) ‘, a nice enough little cocktail bar, which sadly never really found its feet. The latest occupant and let’s hope it’s here to stay is this bar which describes itself as a modern day interpretation of a 17th Century Punch House. VOC seems to be establishing itself quite nicely, and my apothecary-style bottle filled with a ‘raspberry shrub’ cocktail(apparently ‘bottle matured’ for at least 7 days) went down very nicely(and easily) indeed. What a gem in King’s Cross! Hidden away in Varnishers Yard, past the crowds of Camino’s, lurks a cozy candlelight hideaway. Exposed brick walls, big windows and some velvety chairs make this an alluring place to enjoy a drink. Very good cocktail menu and decent selection of wine. On this occasion I didn’t get to sample the food, but I’ll be back again to check it out!

4.5 star kind of place, but the warm punch pushes it to 5. Great atmosphere, nice seating, not too busy because it really doesn’t invite standing/crowding(email for reservations) Excellent menu of Dutch, continental European, and other traditional liquors. Solid service, the waitress is nice, and the main bartender(dark haired one) is an absolute star who really, really knows his stuff. Not too many bar tenders in London can discuss pairing gins with appropriate bitters at length, and this guy can.(parenthetically, I once had a bartender at an alleged«mixology» bar in SW1 London tell me they didn’t know what«bitters» was after first giving me a condescending«we dont serve *bitter* here») Maybe not quite as good as Nightjar, but definitely close, and a great second option for nights later in the week if Nightjar’s music/cover charges don’t appeal to you. Very odd location for the mens room can be disorienting/mood-shattering.

Cosy but elegant, candle light, leather sofas and velvet cushions, with minimum noise and people, brought welcome relief on a Saturday night. I got snugly with some delicious cocktails and charming service, at average cocktail prices, around £8−9 a drink.

OK this place is THE perfect date location… picture a quiet dim candle lit vampire style barn with leather dimpled couches and dark wood stained furniture. The best thing about this bar is that every drink on the menu is an extremely unique cocktail that is made from a variety of high quality cognacs and liquors. The service is great and for the small place it is I would say I’m definitely a fan of this one.
