I don’t know how there is still so many yo sushi branches around london. I was feeling ill and wanted some warm noodles or rice so I finally came to this place after deciding«never again» about 5 years ago. The price for sushi is definitely much higher than wasabi which is in the same station. The hot food looked reasonably priced so we ordered salmon firecracker rice, chicken takisoba and beef tsukune. My rice was basically japanese rice mixed with some oil and salmon and undercooked veggies. The other two were edible but not something that we would order again. But they were around 3.5 pounds each so it was alright. However, I got really surprised when I realized the tap water that I’ve been drinking were charged at £1.10 unlimited refills… There were really small prints under the tap with the price. Seriously who charges for tap water?! I have never got charged with water even in countries where water is not drinkable at the tap. It is also just ridiculous that they just put the water cups and the tap on the table making it so convenient to just start filling up your cup, assuming it’s free. I even have free green tea(powder and hot water tap) in these conveyor belt sushi places at home. Never again and I really mean it this time.

My companion and I were supposed to meet yet another companion here, but somehow there was a huge mix-up and we ended up on our own. Anyway, I didn’t imagine I’d be trying conveyor belt sushi in London, of all places. I think the idea is novel. You sit down, and when you see a sushi you like, you grab it. And when there are items that you really like and don’t want to wait, you order it from the waiter. They determine how much you pay depending on the type of dish that is on your table. Overall, it sounds like a novel idea, but there still is a part of me that thinks that you’re paying more for the novelty than for the food quality. Because seriously, the sushi that I get from my neighborhood sushi place here in Berlin is way better when it comes to the quality of the fish, and it is cheaper too.

Yo sushi has been around a long time now. I remember when I went the first time to a branch in Soho. There weren’t that many places where you can get conveyor belt sushi at that time so this place was a big draw! I haven’t visited a branch for many years and it was a pleasant surprise to note that the food here is a lot tastier than I remembered and the menu seems to have expanded. I liked the deal to get a katsu curry but admittedly it felt like they just put those curry stocks in rather than making it fresh. I cannot complain however because the quality of food is not bad for the amount you are paying. My group had a lot of the more expensive dishes and we ordered more than we could eat and still the bill was only around £15 per person. Some tips for cheaper meals would be to come on one of their special offer days, and if you are on O2 priority moments you get free green tea.
