Love yo sushi. Super fun concept, food is always delicious. This branch had a great atmosphere right on the southbank. Chicken wings were a favourite. Also loved the chocolate Mochi

This sushi is the most disgusting sushi we ever tried in our entire lives. We felt like puking. And the service was awful too. Not to mention the tea, which tasted more like dirty sock water. Utter rubbish, will not be going back. Zero stars

Agree with most of the comments on here — this is not the greatest sushi. Yes — it may seem cool — «Oooh look at that conveyor» Yes — the décor and ambiance is nice — cool seating, clean, nice lighting Yes — the staff seemed nice But, mehhhh… the sushi and the overall selection was lacking. It seemed as if the only ‘fish’ selection that had as a raw offering was salmon. Salmon in basically 3 ways, sashimi in the form of a plate of 3 or 6 pieces. Nothing in what would be a basic offering such as, spicy salmon, salmon avocado rolls etc. They charge for water…**pause** as you tilt your head in confusion… Yes — you read this right! They Charge For Water… Not bottled… Not in a fancy glass… Not imported from a glacier… Not from any fancy country… They also seem to be pretty darn proud of their filtered water(which is probably filtered from the tap in their basement) that they would charge $ 1.50 for that, and they same price for carbonated water. Was it good, was it clean, yes. Would i be able to tell the difference between what they charged and tap, probably not. Should the restaurant offer a FREE — water… ummm YES! YO! SUSHI! — you’re totally lame here. Not on the top of the list to recommend. They need to work on providing more variety, and giving free water.

So this place is obviously a tourist attraction but I was with some friends from out of town doing touristy things in the south bank area and they were intrigued by the moving sushi rolls. I thought to myself… «It can’t possibly be that bad,» so I went for it. Horrible decision. It was so plain and I probably wouldn’t even care if the prices matched the quality of the food, but the sushi was overpriced. I will say that I ordered a pork bun and it was pretty tasty and still not good enough to make this place great. Another plus was the kind staff but that’s about it. There are better tourist traps! Avoid this one!

I love South Bank and everything it has to offer, but never stopped by this sushi place. Good restaurant with a very rich menu and decent prices for the location. The food is good, and the staff was very lovely with us. We were lucky to have some sunshine so had our lunch outside, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. It won’t be my go-to-place for sure, but if I ever happen to want some taste of Japan and I’m in South Bank, I may give it a shot again!

If you have ever eaten proper sushi, then this place will disappoint you. Their«rolls» consists of two pieces of sushi and not a roll as we know it. The ramen came in a small rice bowl and was plain tasting. The ramen noodle was soft and was a tiny amount. The service was terrible, the waitress basically barked at us. The beer was chilled lightly but the glass cups were warm. Overall I think this place is a bad tourist trap and the sushi is worse than what I have seen anywhere. If you have never had sushi before, this place is otherwise clean and the food delivery treads are fun for kids. You might be ok. If you love sushi and expect japanese food, you will be severely disappointed.

Neither of us really like sushi but went here for the hot dishes. You definitely need to order them because if you take them off the belt they’re nearly always cold. Good was good, no complaints and prosecco was reasonably priced, slightly below the London average. The food just works out so expensive though for what you get. Just not really worth it.

Nice and original sushi place that Offers a great variety of sushis. You order your meal and wait for it to «come to you» :)) I guess that that’s what their marketing strategy is based on. The food is good quality!

I mean… yes its a tourist trap, as are most of the Southbank restaurants, but it was alright, and what I would presume to be a normal Yo! Sushi. I’ve never been before but always wanted to try it. My friends actually suggested it so i went along. IF you’re going to come here always go on a monday only, the Blue dish deal for £2.50 a dish is the best deal. but even then i still think sushi is expensive. 3 dishes down, £7.50 later and i feel like I’ve only had a large starter.(I didnt pay for tap water… this may have changed as you fill your own glass yourself. and there is a Help button. There servers were pretty clueless, but i think they were tired, but they were super lovely, approachable and a laugh. Its nice to watch the sushi be made in front of you… but it is just a tourist trap.

Tourist trap! I love my sushi and love to try something new but you can go to the sushi restaurant on the 1st level on the underground at the Waterloo Station. The other place is cheaper and better. I had passed by this place when I was scouting the Waterloo Station for restuarants to eat at since it was near my hostel. On my last night in London, I decided to stop here and try it. They charge by the plate and each plate has different colors. The green plate is the cheapest but what’s in it? Just your average egg on top of the sushi rice and edemame. I had 2 orders of the orange plates which had 2 pcs of salmon on top of the sushi rice, green plate– edemame, the blue plate with the seaweed salad and a coke. Total cost? 18GBP. Looking at my credit card conversion it was almost $ 40! What an expensive sushi that did not even feel me up. The service was lacking, the servers were just chit chatting and gossiping, and the tables weren’t cleaned up right away, and the menu was sticky. Why did I do it? Coz I wanted to try it.

Meeeh… Though I love the idea of conveyor belt sushi, the standard at this joint is not very good. I’ve come a few times and the selection usually isn’t very impressive. On the most recent visit there wasn’t a single sushi dish on the belt! After waiting 10min I asked… and was told I could have something from the menu instead(apparently they don’t put out anything ‘nice’ until after 6:30pm). The few options that did make it on the belt though were razor thin nigiri and some rolls who looked like they’d travelled much further than the belt could ever take them… lesson learned; I’ll find a proper sushi place next time, with proper sushi. The southbank tourists who are too dumb to read Unilocal reviews can have this one for themselves: P

i’d have given this location 4 stars… but had a real shit experience on the 2nd visit. Food on scales 1 – 10. Sushi — 4. What can you expect? It’s sushi on a conveyor belt. It’s fastfood sushi, not a 5 star sushi restaurant. That being said, I’d still visit when i need a quick sushi fix. Cooked food — 6. I could give it a 3 since all of the fried stuff is frozen, BUT… once it’s cooked it taste pretty damn good. So on our first visit, it was just my daughter and I. We were in awe of the conveyor belt! I mean, how neat is this shit?! Food parading past you for choosing! After the first few plates, the realization that the sushi wasn’t «top quality» was evident. However the experience made it worth while. We ordered some Popcorn shrimp and fried rice to go for the wife. THIS turnout to be extremely tasty! Surprisingly better than the sushi. Our 2nd visit wasn’t so well. The sushi parading around us wasn’t up to the same standard and mostly the same monotonous stuff kept passing around looking at us like the pitiful kids who are last picked for gym class sports. Then, they didn’t have the popcorn shrimp and the waiter was extremely neglectful. Maybe another location would have a better rating, but… this one was only deserving of 3 stars. 3 stars on a good day.

I’m a big fan of conveyor belt sushi, so I was eager to give Yo! Sushi a shot. Positives: I love how many different menu items there are to choose from! Not just a nice variety of sushi, but also hot dishes like curry and teriyaki. Also, the décor is super cute! I got a kick out of the help buttons(a giant tube of water that lights up and changes color when you press the button) and appreciated the fact that you could refill your own water glass whenever you needed from the taps on the bar. Negatives: Portions are overpriced given the tiny size. Also, the staff seemed completely overwhelmed and frazzled. I pressed the afore mentioned help button and no one ever came by – I finally had to flag a server down on my own. Also, the bar doesn’t have hooks of any kind underneath and the stools you sit on have no backs, so coats and the like have to get tossed on the floor, which was a bit off-putting.

We have considered visiting YoSushi many times but never did until we found ourselves at the Southbank and hungry. As the other restaurants were packed out and appeared to have waiting lists, we decided to take a gamble on Yo-Sushi as it appeared to be quiet. The staff were friendly as they cleared a table for us and explained how things worked(which is nice but started me wondering if we had made the right decision). YoSushi can be very intimidating on your first visit, we know because we felt puzzled, stressed and out of place as we tried to determine which item was which as each plate passed by on the conveyor belt, whilst simultaneously studying the ‘menu’ and after a while it felt a bit like playing snap for your dinner. There was a lot of choice on the menu but it felt like the same items kept going around the conveyor with the new items sparking interest, until you found out what they were and if you actually wanted the item(or not In my case). Eventually we settled down and realised that it’s sometimes easier to just press the help button and order something bigger that wasn’t passing by every few minutes. I was really disappointed that the drink choices didn’t include Irn-Bru(available in Scotland only !!?) [you can me out of Glasgow but you can’t take my Glasgow habits out of me]. My better half, after looking over the menu several times, decided to order a chicken Katsu curry(her usual Wagamama order) and although it was similar, she found it had a bit more of a kick to it. I struggled to differentiate between a cucumber or an Avocado sushi dish(they look almost identical and are both on the same colour plate) but took the plunge and chose one that turned out to be a little dry, but tasty. We soon found our stride, ok it was more a saunter, but soon kicked ourselves when we realised I could have ordered a Miso soup(one of my favourites) and had free refills. After a while we decided to call it quits and had our plates tallied up, paid and left. Our opinion, If you’ve never been ensure you take someone that’s been before. I think we will stick to Wagamama from now on, as it’s more our style, but if we ever want just Sushi we know where to go(and press the button to order it).

Gaak! This is without a doubt the most disgusting excuse for sushi I have ever come across. Soggy, slimy limp bits of fish and other matter crawl past your table on a little conveyor belt from which you serve yourself. Unlimited soup, if you want it, seems to be seawater filled with leathery seaweed leaves, not the delicate miso shiru I am accustomed to having at any Japanese place in the US. It’s not even as good as the packets you make yourself in a mug of boiling water. Even the cooked dishes(we took some salmon teriyaki) were marginally edible. And it’s expensive! For two adults and two 10-year-olds the bill came to 65GBP, for which you could get a much more satisfactory meal at one of the establishments right next door. Do yourself a favor and track down an actual sushi restaurant.

Don’t ask my why but I can’t help loving YO! Sushi. I have been a fan ever since the very first conveyor belt started whirring in Soho. One explanation might be that I don’t actually like sushi. So rather than treating this as a budget version of a real Japanese experience, I see YO! as a preferable option to picking up something soggy from the supermarket. Is it really too expensive? At least everything is prepared on site and doesn’t sit in a fridge for several days. I particularly like this branch with its futuristic, Manga inspired interior. It is perfect for enjoying a quick bite to eat on your own before going to see a show or concert.

I love coming to this particular franchise of the chain because it’s big, it’s clean and it’s in a great location. I love the pumpkin tempura(don’t think that’s what it’s called on the menu but that’s what it is) and the chicken rolls. Dessert options are GREAT! I wish they had more variety(like in the menu) but you can ask them to make stuff for you that isn’t coming around. Also a bit pricey but good for a special occasion.

I love the conveyor-belt sushi thing!!! It’s fun to choose as the little UFO-shaped containers go by. You don’t have to wait for an order(although you can order anything from the menu if you don’t see it go by on the belt) so if you’re in a hurry, this is a great option. There are some disadvantages though — it’s easy to get carried away and end up with a surprisingly large bill at the end of your meal(those little plates add up), and it’s lame as hell that they charge you for tap water. If you wanna save some dough, stop in on a Monday for their«Blue Monday» special — everything is on a blue plate and thus costs £2.30. The selections are less than normal but still good and worth a visit. This particular location has both indoor and outdoor seating by the way — the outdoor spots have a nice view of the Thames and the added bonus of people-watching along the busy Embankment.

I think Yo Sushi is now terrible. On my last visit, of my four dishes, one was very average dumplings, one was sashimi which had bones in, and another was a rice dish which was greasy and tasteless. When the checkout lady asked me if I enjoyed it, I said«Not that much to be honest». She didn’t say another word, which I took to mean she didn’t care a jot. Go to one of the restaurants on Brewer street instead.
