I’ve visited the Cornershop twice now and have had different experiences on both occasions. My first visit was generally good. I paid around about £12 for a basic men’s cut(clippered on sides, trimmed on top) and felt it was ok for the price paid. The barber that cut it made conversation and took a reasonable amount of care given the fairly low price. The end product, whilst not exactly how I’d have liked it, was satisfactory. The second time however it wasn’t. Firstly the shop opened half an hour later than advertised, so I had to wait for it to open whilst the staff smoked outside — they weren’t in a hurry! I was then seen to by a man who clearly hadn’t woken up yet and made no effort to talk throughout the 10 minute cut. My hair usually take 20 minutes to do properly so this was far too quick. The look after reflected this… The fringe had been chopped pretty brutally, without asking about preferred length. The top also had a horribly uneven choppy look. Overall my experience wasn’t great. Whilst relatively cheap, the customer service was abrupt, the cut was poor and the shop was actually unclean(despite being the first cut of the day, the scissors and surfaces were covered in hair).

After spending years trying to find somewhere that cuts my hair properly and doesn’t pretend to be something they’re not… I have been having my hair cut here for 6 months now and can guarantee a great cut each time. I have my favourite guy, who threads my eyebrows but they are all great gents and real chatty.

If you require anything other than short back and sides avoid this place. Completely disregarded everything I asked for at the start and just did their own thing, ended up with and awful hair cut which was about as far away from what I asked for as possible! Maybe try actually doing what people ask rather than your generic short back and sides for everyone. Avoid this place

Well not much to say £10 for a haircut is worth a try, and my hair is looking good and am pleased so most definitely I will be going back.

One of its greatest attributes has to be the price. This was my second visit and I was in the chair right away both times! The language can be blue, crude and boystrious so you deffo would leave your Mother in a coffee shop near by! All in all you get what you get, which is a pretty quick cut for a pretty low price in a pretty good central location. It is now my regular barbershop! And at that price you can visit more than once every 8 weeks(…Jonny Q!)

I tried to get into Barber Barber on a rainy night only to find that — as always — the queue was enormous. So instead I headed off into the rain and remembered reading good reviews of this place. Popped in and after waiting no more than 5 minutes it was my turn. The haircut was fast, with no wash beforehand. But the guy was clearly very talented and knew what he was doing, and I’m happy with the result. One important point — it’s cash only. Don’t be like me, having to run around in the rain trying to find a cashpoint! TL;DR — It’s a barber, not a stylist, but for £10 it’s a great deal.

I’m with Jonny Q on this one — I want minimal effort and awkwardness when seeking a haircut. Based on the few good reviews and finding myself on Stevenson Square, I popped in to give them a try for myself. I was the only customer but it was a late morning on a Monday so I wasn’t surprised. Within a minute or so I was sat in the chair and the barber asked what I was after and away he went with scissors and clippers. Now I’m a self-confessed chatter, so was pleased to find that the chap was keen on conversation. In the 15 minutes or so that I was in there we covered all sorts of topics, from his time growing up in Iraq, to current affairs(even found out he used to work in my usual local barbers in Sale — small world). Before I knew it he was brushing off the snipped curls of hair and I was done — and he’d accomplished a terrific cut for only a tenner. I’ll definitely be a returning customer if I’m in the city and I can’t cope with my ‘fro any longer. Tip: there are floor to ceiling windows so if you’re not a fan of ‘being on show’ to passing pedestrians, this place may not be for you.

Anyone who regularly reads my reviews will know my constant battle to find a good haircut with minimal effort. Not only do I struggle with«barber talk» but the fact that it usually takes a good hour to get my pretty short hair cut makes me want to spend that time doing something much more fun. That usually results in me carrying what can only be described as a birds nest around on my head for a much more desired time period than is acceptable! But for no more — yesterday at the Barbers on Stevenson square opposite Koffee pot, I was in and out within 20 minutes, loved my new haircut and it only cost me £10. All the guys working there were pretty friendly and up for a chat about the local bar scene and that suits me just fine. If you’re after a quick cut, walk in service then this place is just for you.
