Very casual. Worth the search to find it. Live music, water front, and amazing service! Went above and beyond to accommodate our large group!

I was excited to try this place because I’ve heard great things about it. Unfortunately I ended up with a two day stomachache from my meal. Two of us got the caribbean«bake» sandwich and it was so bad I couldn’t eat more than two bites. There was absolutely NO flavor and so much grease, it was like a fast food sandwich but without the flavor. It was all fried skin and no fish. Cold, uncooked french fries. My friend got the creole dish which came out with no creole sauce and just as bad. By the time creole sauce came out we had already packed our stuff to leave. The service was really slow but I don’t blame our waitress bc the whole place was packed with only two waitresses. We did get two appetizers which were edible– the shark bites and the shrimp. Come for drinks and the ambience… go somewhere else to eat.

We are a family of five(consisting of three teenagers). Went based on prior reviews and were pleasantly surprised. Music was amazing. The band played back to back nights and we went out of our way to see them the second time. Atmosphere was great, all staff and tourists were exceptionally kind. Food was very good(try the shark bites). All in all the restaurant was difficult to find but well worth the pot-hole ridden road. A real hidden gem, strongly recommend the joint.

Love the locals’ Vessup Beach and Latitude 18 is right next to it. Heard you shouldn’t go to Vessup at night because it’s not safe, which is unfortunate. Latitude 18 is a great little isolated bar. Better than anything in Red Hook. Painkillers are great! Hope to visit one time when sol driven train is playing there(vi tour in january)

Such a chill place. The vibe is really laid back and fun. I had the vegan burger and it was hands down the BEST vegan burger I’ve had. The people are so so nice and they have live music every night!

The owner is great! My review is 3 stars only because of the $ and menu, very limited and pricey. Great music. If you order a salad, you aren’t getting much. Should come with some bread.

Food is really overpriced for what you get, but drinks are great & it’s a nice chill place to hang out. We came here 2 nights in a row because we loved the live music and relaxed outdoor marina atmosphere. Definitely wear bug spray though! We especially loved the painkillers and the shark sandwich. Music was great Saturday night(lots of Eagles covers, pretty fun), but the woman doing guest vocals Sunday night was pretty painful to listen to and made us decide to have another drink at home rather than staying. Get a painkiller for sure, best one I had all week.

If you want to wait for hour and a half for your meal and you don’t mind average live music then you might like the laid back place. One drink per hour because you don’t see your waitress. Authentic creole to me is not a cream sauce and definitely is spicy… their food is bland and boring. Would have liked to try the shark bites but at 430pm they ran out.

Awesome atmosphere with live music! It was Saturday night and everyone was drinking, singing and dancing. The music was cozy, funny and country style, so even kids were brought and enjoyed the music. The food was good but the waiters and cooks were really busy so it took about an hour for the food to be served. But they told us right after we ordered, so we just waited patiently while enjoying the music. Great experience overall, and the restaurant is actually viewed as the best on island by some local musicians and sailors.

OMG we finally found this place! Here are some directions: drive along Bluebeards Beach Rd, turn on Vessup Dr at the sign saying«live music», then keep driving(you are not lost lol) and then you will see a sing saying” Latitude 18″. Watch out for giant potholes. Ok then, Latitud 18 is an interesting place! Outdoor patio close to the water and dock. Casual atmosphere with live music. We ordered chicken roti and shrimp roti, both excellent. Good assortment of beers as well. It’s a bit of an adventure getting there, but it’s worth it.

If you look up fun, local Caribbean night spot on Wikipedia this places’s photo should be there. The bands each night are amazing, the location is romantic and yet relaxing and casual. The food will surprise you. Try the fish and chips, the burgers or Friday night ribs! Ask about the special of the night, you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for a local hangout with great entertainment, great Caribbean feel and really good food then take the drive down the road to latitude 18. Yes you will think you are lost but keep driving, dodge the gigantic potholes and at the end of the road your treasure awaits.

Lattitude 18 is a true Caribbean pleasure. It’s the kind of restaurant and bar where tourists and locals alike congregate for a cold one and a tall tale. The bartenders and servers are super fun and friendly, the drinks are refreshing and not«resort priced» — and the food was great. I really liked the shark bites — fresh, light and savory. So glad we tried them! My wife really enjoyed the fish & chips special. Be sure to order the root beer float!

Nice outdoor setting. Great views. Roti had good flavor but was on the dry side. Service was pleasant. It was nice to hear live music but it was a little too loud to talk over and we were the furthest away from the band. Watch out for the flimsy plastic chairs they’ll put you on the ground.

Best time on st thomas. Great food, better service and the nicest crowd. Porkchops were fantastic. It is a little off the beaten path but definitely worth finding. My only complaint is that we found it at the end of our trip!!! We will be back!

Great food, amazing views and service! The live music was amazing. Such a great place to have a casual outdoor dinner in Red Hook, it’s been our most fun dinner this trip! Bring your bugspray.

Went here on the recommendation of someone we met on vacation. Dinner outside with a live band playing most nights, what’s not to get excited about? While there is nothing remarkable about the food, it was all pretty good. The winner was the mahi mahi sandwich, it was fresh and well seasoned. I had the chicken roti dish which is and island favorite. If you like curry, this is your dish, it is strong but tasty. My friend had a shrimp dish and thought it was just ok. Service was attentive, although sitting under the stars was so nice I wouldn’t have minded if it wasn’t! haha Overall, it’s worth a trip.

This place should be renamed to «Attitude 18» because you will get an attitude-adjustment when you step through the imaginary door. It’s bar food with a nicer entrée touch(like yellow-fin tuna). You come here for the open-air atmosphere and the music; you do not come here for their culinary offerings. Service was fine albeit a bit slow on Thursday(The Fiddler) night. That was to be expected so I adjusted my attitude. We visited twice over a two week period and I found it to be a fun, relaxing place to hang out, listen to some live music and enjoy the people. .. . and there are some real party people going to Latitude 18. Some of the better people-watching on St. Thomas.

Date of visit: April 2013 I truly hope that the experience I had at Latitude 18 was an anomaly, as I know that historically people have raved about this place, the atmosphere, and the live music. Unfortunately, I don’t know that I’d return, as there are better locals only places to be had(like Brooks by Magens), but I thought I’d offer my thoughts here. Location: 4 out of 5 As «advertised», this place is a little hard to find and definitely off the beaten path. Once you are on Vessup Drive(not Ln, as that’s the NPS road), do your best to follow the signs that say, «Latitude 18» or «Live Music!» Much easier to do this when the sun hasn’t set yet, of course. There’s a free parking lot, yay! The downside is that when you drive on the uhh… dirt and mud and pot holed and large rock road, you do have to be careful, particularly if you’re coming in a compact car. Once you’re there, the setting is serene, though. It’s right on the water, and it’s got a nice laid back feel to it. Customer Service: 2 out of 5 The lady that helped us when we went, bless her soul. I truly believe that she was doing her best, and she was probably worn out from having worked all day. But not only was she slow, even by Island Time standards, she was so inefficient. I mean, look, right — I don’t expect her to be some superhero and carry 8 — 10 drinks at a time, but it IS possible to drop off drinks for a table, and then ask an adjacent table if they’d like something to drink. She’d actually be saving time, resources, and her energy if she somehow learned to just… do things in a manner that was more efficient. And don’t get me wrong — she was nice as all getup, but man alive… some quick training would really just square things away there. Décor: 4 out of 5 You know — I actually liked the feel of this place. A tad bit touristy for a locals only spot, but still laid back and you can’t beat the outdoor covered dining feel. And, they had a random dog tied up to a wheelbarrow, which was awesome. Availability of Menu Items: 1 out of 5 Look here, folks. When all the literature out there suggests that people come to Latitude 18 because they serve food like Shark Bites and Roti, I want some muther truckin’ shark bites and roti when I show up in my compact car after driving across the desert. Ok, so I didn’t drive across the desert, but you get my point. But hey — guess what? When we showed up, they had neither shark bites or roti, which is really a bummer, because you know what was left to eat after that? Pedestrian fare like burgers, pizza, and seafood that I could have gotten at any restaurant without having driven out of the way. Yikes. Quality of food: 2 out of 5 I really do have to congratulate Latitude 18 on using frozen burger patties that aren’t properly cooked… so while the inside was a color that indicated«medium rare», the actual texture and temperature indicated, «Wth did I just put in my mouth?» Really makes me want to come back… wait, no it doesn’t. The fiancé’s meal wasn’t much better, and perhaps the only highlight of this trip gone awry was the escargot with blue cheese. Again… I truly hope this was an anomaly. Price: 1.5 out of 5 Definitely overpriced. Burgers STARTED at 12 bucks, plain. Who does that, especially with frozen patties that aren’t properly cooked? The only redeeming pricing scheme was the 4 dollar bottled local beer. Oh wait… TWIST! On certain nights, they’ll go ahead and charge you an extra 50 cents per drink to bring in local talent to play live music… Live music: 1.5 out of 5(hopefully an anomaly) You know which male singers are allowed to do a cover of «Landslide»? Maybe the Smashing Pumpkins, and even THAT was atrocious. When I sit down to enjoy a meal that I’ve overpaid for with a drink that I’ve overpaid for(again, to bring in «local talent») and the guy with his guitar is crooning, «Landslide» in a way that my ears cannot accept, we have a real. problem. here. Which is really too bad because from the pictures I’ve seen, they’ve been able to get real bands up there who are entertaining and fun. And who can sing in tune. Overall: 2 out of 5 Again, I would reiterate that lots of things went wrong on the evening that I visited, including the lack of signature items, the exceptionally slow service, and the horrible live entertainment. Had things been different and done right, this could EASILY be a 4 star review.
