Itacate

Il parait qu’à défaut de traverser l’Atlantique, on peut avoir le goût du Mexique chez Itacate! C’est bon pour ton empreinte carbone et ton porte-​monnaie, en plus.
La déco du resto n’est pas folle mais le service est adorable et souriant, avec le petit accent qui va bien. Super guacamole en entrée, assortiment de 5 tacos (14 €) et 2 quesadillas pour compléter le repas.
Et bah c’est très bon. Les viandes sont parfumées, j’étais contente de découvrir le nopal et j’aime bien manger avec les doigts, alors je valide!
Ils précisent sur la carte le diamètre des galettes, je pense que c’est parce qu’ils ont eu des réactions un peu surprises devant la petite taille des tacos. Mais avec l’entrée et les quesadillas, je suis sortie de table repue.
On a pu rester un peu tard sans se faire pousser dehors, c’était plutôt agréable! Un très bon endroit pour découvrir la cuisine mexicaine!

Itacate… a journey back to Mexico!
The restaurant from outside does not look really attractive but honestly, just get in and eat, you wont be disappointed.
this is a true Mexican restaurant. I went to Mexico a few years ago and I finally found a place in Paris where the food taste exactly how it was where I was there. The quesadillas are excellent, the tacos, are done like in Mexico, the pork cooked properly like its done there… anyway, the Mexican restaurant I would now recommend to everyone who want traditional Mexican food.
in term of price, it’s reasonable. We end up spending 15 euros each with a drink so all good.
And they have space upstairs so dont be fool by just the outside, get in and ask them. The waiters are nice and really happy to help and explain the menu. honestly, i have to go back, I love it!

Un petit restaurant mexicain pas loin des Halles qui à le mérite d’être authentique.
Délicieuses quesadillas et bons tacos, les prix sont abordables sur la carte mais attention car leur taille est plutôt petite et il faut prendre pas mal de choses pour né pas rester sur sa faim alors attention au budget.
Je n’ai pas tester les menus car j’avais un autre objectif ce jour là mais ils me semblent assez consistants donc à tester.
Super bons ingrédients et service rapide donc parfait pour le repas de midi.
Le boisson à l’hibiscus est super donc si vous né connaissez pas n’hésitez pas.

As someone who grew up in Mexico and Los Angeles, this is by far the best tasting and most authentic Mexican food in Paris. They even have aguas frescas and tres leches cake! Tacos are very reasonably priced, and they thankfully haven’t Frenchified it to death like other taco places in Paris.

The first time I lived in Paris (2013) this became an obsession thanks to my local friend, and the second time I was in Paris (2014) I lived one block over, so needless to say I was a frequent customer at Itacate.
One of the owners is Mexican and the authenticity shines through in the food. The food is the epitome of «fresh but not too heavy,» the half pitcher of margaritas is excellent for sharing, the chips and fresh guacamole are a must-​do appetizer (and I don’t even normally like guac!), and the chicken alambres in 3 tortillas are always my go-​to order (when you order 3 small tortillas instead of one large one, you get to build them yourself which I prefer, as I’m very particular about ingredient distribution!)

As a lover of Mexican food I was in heaven when I saw the sign that read TORTAS… What?! In PARIS. I stumbled on this restaurant and fell in love. I had the Torta which tasted and put together different than any Torta I had in the states. So good, I came back the next day for lunch. The Torta, tacos and the quesadillas were great. The place is very small but the food makes up for the cramped seating. Oh! Try the tea… It’s awesome! Hibiscus tea.

Pratiquement aussi bon qu’au Mexique ! L’horchata est aussi parfaite. Enfin un vraiment Mexicain et pas un Tex Mex… Pour avoir vécu au Mexique, je peux le certifier ! Simplement petit bémol concernant les quantités qui mériteraient d’être un peu plus étoffées. À part ça accueil très chaleureux et service nickel. Une très bonne adresse !

Très bonne cuisine et très bon rapport qualité/​prix. Service aimable et souriant. Seul bémol, la décoration un peu trop sommaire. Mais cela reste un bon resto à recommander

Ayant vécu au Mexique je né supporte pas les faux restaurants mexicains en France qui sont en fait des restaurant «tex-​mex».
Mais celui-​là n’en fait pas partie puisqu’on y trouve les basiques de la vraie cuisine mexicaine.
Tacos et quesadillas servis dans le respect de la tradition mexicaine avec toute l’armada de sauces allant avec!
Il y a aussi de la salade de nopal (cactus pour les non inités), chose assez rare pour être soulignée. D’ailleurs, ils proposent aussi des produits importés à la vente tels que la célèbre salsa Valentina ou des nopales en bocal (pour mon plus grand bonheur)
Evidement on se rafraichit avec les délicieuses bières mexicaines (Modelo, Victoria, etc.)
Concernant la déco, c’est digne d’une taqueria mexicaine, à bon entendeur…

My aunt and I were pleasantly surprised when we stumped across this place. Wanting to eat «where the locals eat» we ventured off the main Street and chose this place. The staff was very helpful in deciphering the menu (We speak English) the portions were on the smaller side but the food was very flavorful! There was a good variety to choose from and the food was fresh! We wish we had discovered it earlier in our trip.

To be consistent, since I gave Candelaria (another taco joint) 5 stars last week, itacate gets 4. Taste wise, itacate lacks a little bit of spice and the fact that I have to add the spices on my own makes it a little less delicious. I like it when the chefs do the work! Ordered the. Two types of pork tacos, the marinated pork is better than the shredded pork. Make sure you add the pineapple and the line they give you on the side. 5 tacos for 14 euros is a good deal actually. The mushroom taco is just mushrooms and nothing else. The margarita for 5 euros is delicious but it’s too small!!! The service was excellent and lots of attention paid to us — something you can’t expect from Candelaria. Overall delicious and will stop by if I’m in the way but probably won’t make a night out of it!

C’est un petit restaurant perdu dans le quartier. De l’extérieur impossible de croire qu’il s’agit d’un resto/​traiteur mexicain.
Le restaurant est composé d’un étage ou il y a une 30aine de places assises. Le rdc même pas 10 places et c’est la que se trouve la cuisine.
L’arrangement du restaurant me faut penser au zenzoo.
La décoration est à mille lieus des restaurants mexicain classique. C’est assez kitsch.
L’accueil est excellent et local, avec un bon petit accent mexicain/​sud américain très chaleureux.
La carte est simple et assez variée. À vrai dire j’y suis allé car il m’a été recommandé par un cuistot mexicain qui a ses habitudes ici.
Donc j’ai pris ce se j’ai l’habitude de manger quand je mange mexicain, des tacos et des quesadillas accompagnés d’une boisson à l’hibiscus.
Les tacos: sublimes !!!

Pour 2 personnes boissons et plats plus quelques tacos en plus cela revient à une 30aine d’euros.

As a Californian, and food lover, the absolute last thing I thought we’d eat during our first visit to Paris was Mexican food. But after stumbling upon Itacate while wandering away from the throngs of tourist Louvre in search of a bite, we rolled the Mexican dice.
They offer a few outdoor tables but it was still too chilly so we headed upstairs where there’s about 10 tables in 2’s and 4’s. The space is modern, clean and slightly upscale for a «taqueria» and it just gives off a good vibe. You walk by the open kitchen on your way through so all the wares are out on display… usually a good sign.
The super nice staff are all polyglots so you can order in French, Spanish or English and they’ll happily entertain anything lost in translation on the menu.
We honestly had super low expectation but were impressed with the menu so we ordered the Cubano torta, tacos w/​chorizo, al pastor & carnitas.
First comes the salsa dish… and I’ve always thought you can judge a Mexican restaurant based on the quality of the salsa… and holy moly its legit!
Everything that followed was really, REALLY good. Seriously no joke good. On par with many killer joints back in CA. The MUST try is the chorizo, trust me.
And had a lovely conversation with the owner/​chef on our way as curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to know their story.
Yup they’re from Mexico.
Well there you go. Mexican chef marries a Frenchman and sets up shop in Les Halles.
In a sea of endless, seemingly generic cafés, this place sticks out and is def worth a try!

Excellente taqueria
Ce n’est pas un pseudo restaurant mexicain mais une excellente taqueria ! C’est le seul endroit de Paris ou je retrouve les authentiques saveurs mexicaines. Las micheladas sont a tomber, tout comme les tortas et los tacos que j’ai tous goûtés. On retrouve la salsa roja y verde comme au Mexique. Il y a également les bières du pays (pacifico, Victoria).

I was a little sceptical about this place because it sells Mexican food but has a French name (it is actually called Itacate Saveurs du Mexique) but it is near to work and we really fancied Mexican food.
They have a ‘formule express’ which is 9.90 euros and includes one quesadilla and the choice of three tacos or an alambre (which I had previously never heard of). Everything was really very distinctly average apart from one taco — the carnitas — which was incredibly tender and succulent (even if it lacked garnish). Otherwise, the meat on my other tacos was very dry and there was little to no garnish on the tacos which is a shame. As for the quesadilla, it wasn’t quite cooked enough which meant the cheese hadn’t entirely melted. That being said, the salsas were really spicy which is hard to find in Paris so that is a plus (even if they did come served in a serve-​yourself bowl).
The service was very friendly though and I think the price is fair. However, I probably would not eat there again, especially when you could grab decent Mexican food for less from Chaak just around the corner in Les Halles.

Certes la déco n’est pas forcément très typique… Mais tout le reste est parfait !
On retrouve ici les VRAIS goûts du Mexique… Rien à voir avec les tex-​mex (qui sont américains en fait, pas du tout mexicains !).
Les tacos et les quesadillas sont délicieux, le guacamole l’est tout autant. Et signe qui né trompe pas: tout le monde parle espagnol ici ! Le restaurant est rempli d’habitués mexicains.
Une très bonne adresse pour ceux qui veulent découvrir la cuisine mexicaine et pour soigner le «home sick» des mexicains de Paris !

New name Azteca but some damn good tacos! Ask for the hot sauce from the back and you will think you are in mexico!

Que vivan los tacos !
Itacate est une taqueria de très bonne qualité. Je suis allée plusieurs fois avec mes groupes hispanophones et nous avons tous aimé. Les prix sont très raisonnables, les alambres et surtout la torta al pastor sont un délice ! Le cocktail à l’hibiscus léger et original et la horchata nous ont laissé un très bon souvenir. La margarita se boit comme du petit lait, avec modération. La terrasse qui donne en face d’un ancien bâtiment a du cachet et donne l’impression d’être ailleurs ! Nous y retournerons.

Envie d’un mexicain, allez chez Itacate! Ce n’est pas un resto chic et branché mais ça m’allait tout à fait un vendredi soir à 21h! Par contre, faut pas être pressé quand vous dînez sur place.
Pour commencer, nous avons pris une frozen margarita qui est très bonne et qui passé très bien!
Nous avons passé la commande après moults appels auprès de la serveuse:
— Quesadilla fromage et chorizo, tacos chorizo… Super bon! Le chorizo a du goût!
— Alambre poulet avec extra fromage (yummy) et/​ou extra guacamole avec 3 tortillas de blé à composer soi-​même… C’est super bon aussi! Il y a une bonne assiette de garniture que l’on peut relever avec des sauces piquantes (attention!). Et cela fait bien 3 tortillas voir un peu plus! Donc vous êtes bien calés…
Nous avons attendu 1h pour être servie… Mais la margarita a bien aidé à patienter
L’addition est très correcte, environ 16 euros par personne. La margarita est à 5,5 euros, dommage qu’il né la fasse pas en pichet ou en girafe (allez, soyons fou!)

Si vous êtes dans le coin et que vous avez une petite faim, allez-​y sans soucis!

Un fastfood mexicain, plein de choses a grignoter a des prix raisonnables. Frais et bon.

Bonne surprise, malgré la serveuse qui s’est trompée sur presque tous les plats. Ambiance assez bruyante et décor assez laid, mais les plats sont très bons et très abordables ! La salade Itacate est assez copieuse, le guacamole est très bon, ça change des resto tex-​mex habituels.

Best taco’s in Paris by far!

We were actually looking for Azteca (around the corner) and happened upon this place totally by accident. We were looking for some solid mexican food to cure our latent recovery from the night before and unfortunately, this place did not fit the bill. The guacamole earned this place its only additional star as the tacos and quesadillas we order were all very average (if not bland and in need of a serious upgrade in the flavor department). Admittedly, we might have been setting our expectations high for mexican in Paris, but this place just did not hit its mark.
Bottom Line: Maybe, but probably not — there are simply better options in Paris.

Ayant vécu quelques temps au Mexique, je peux vous dire que les tacos d’Itacate sont conformes au «goût» de là bas. C’est plutôt rare à Paris où les restos mexicains s’apparentent plus à des tex-​mex. Itacate est tenu par de vrais Mexicains et on y retrouve les principales spécialités au menu de toute taqueria qui se respecte: du tacos al pastor à la sincronizada en passant par l’horchata et toute une gamme de tortas. Nous avons testé le guacamole en apéro avec des nachos, accompagné d’une petite Margarita glacée (en fait une sorte de granité de Margarita) très sympathique. Nous avons enchaîné avec une sélection de quesadillas (tortillas de blé fourrées au fromage) et de tacos (tortillas de maïs garnies). Que dire du décor: certes, il n’est pas des plus rafiné et la salle du haut a tendance à résonner, mais le tout reste dans l’esprit des petites taquerias de là bas où l’on mange en toute simplicité.

Super restaurant typiquement mexicain on se croirait là bas.

Adresse: + 1 étoile. Difficile dans le quartier de trouver une nourriture authentique sans y laisser un bras.
Taco Carnitas: +2 étoiles. Tuerie totale. Mention honorable à celui au chorizo «home made».
Bière Dos Equis: +1 étoile.
Accent trop cute de la petite serveuse mexicaine: +1 étoile.
Déco: –1 étoile. On dirait que Valérie Damidot est passée par là, alors que, quand même, sur le thème mexicain, y’a de quoi trouver de l’inspiration sans tomber dans le kitch ! Rez-​de chaussée sympa avec sa cuisine ouverte, mais à peine 3 places assises, et le 1er étage manqué cruellement d’âme.
Desserts: –1 étoile. Crème caramel pas top, mais j’ai cru entendre «cheesecake au dulce de leche», ça pourrait remonter la moyenne.

Je né pensais pas trouver un petit restaurant mexicain à 2 pas du Louvre et donc, quel né fût pas mon ravissement en tombant dessus par hasard… Service rapide, personnel très aimable, bonne margherita (pas chère en plus!), tortilla bueno: voilà pour les +.
Seul bémol: le plateau de sauces recyclé de clients en clients, j’aime moins.

I tried Itacate last week with a group of girlfriends. We originally went for margaritas and chips, but after seeing taco plates land on a couple of tables near by, we had to stay for dinner.
First of all, the margaritas are terribly tasty. I mix a lot of margaritas at home, and therefore hardly order them when I’m out since they are rarely as good. These were. The glasses are small, but at 4.50 a glass, they come in at about half the price of most other mexican/​tex mex places in town.
For apéritif, we got an order of guacamole and an order of cocktail des camarones. The guac was chunky and delicious-​served with homemade chips. The shrimp cocktail was quite sweet, almost too sweet-​until we were advised that we were supposed to add hot sauce to taste. Being with some other spice addicts, we poured quite a bit in, and the dish was transformed from too sweet to absolutely delectable.
We then ordered dinner. I got a trio of tacos-​pork, chorizo, and beef. The chorizo, normally my favorite, was a bit salty-​but the beef was scrumptious. The tacos come with an assortment of salsas-​some quite spicy-​others mild, to cater to both French and, well, more adventurous tastes.
I really like this place. There were a couple of hiccups in service, mostly in keeping up with our never-​ceasing margarita orders, but any request-​including rearranging several tables to accomodate our growing number of people, was met with a smile.
I cannot, personally, speak to authenticity, but there was a colombian girl sitting next to us who had lived in mexico for five years and gave the place a definitive thumbs up.
