Perfect for a lunch after a tour at the Invalids. Great view of the palace and close to the Eiffel Tower. I had quiche and a dry white wine(suggestion from the waiter). Everything was great. The service was on point, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely.

They have a good kids menu with steak as option. Great view of Invalids across the way. Close to Eiffel Tower and comfortable. They have lunch specials and good prix fixe.

Located conveniently behind Napoleon’s tomb there are not many places to eat in this predominantly residential neighborhood. Waiter sat us in the back if the restaurant after realizing we were American and contained to give us attitude throughout the meal while slamming the bottled water on the table(then not opening it and pouring it for us), forgetting our beverages after being reminded twice, and refusing to explain any items on the menu to us. The food was good but NOT worth the extreme rudeness that was displayed by the wait staff– WILLNOTRETURN

€ 41 menu with kir royal, entrée, plat, dessert, mineral water or wine, and coffee: ’nuff said. Well worth the trip from Montparnasse where the grandes brasseries have become touristy, average to bad in quality, and absolutely unaffordable. By contrast, the Vauban offers excellent food, a little bit on the traditional side and with large portions, but well executed, a nice view, excellent service, and the quietness afforded by the company of the retired or active diplomats and politicians from the neighbourhood. Which of course constitutes the only drawback: the 7th sucks life out of you. Nevertheless worth it if visiting the Invalides, the musée Rodin, or wanting to escape the abominable frenzy of the Montparnasse brasserie scene for a moment.

I’ve been here twice. Le Vauban has a great view of the dome of Les Invalides near the end of what in the evening is a fairly quiet street. Not being an expert on Paris, I can’t speak to the tourist level of the restaurant. I can say, however, I didn’t hear any language other than French being spoken at the tables around us, for what that’s worth. The menu focuses on seafood, which was what I had on both visits. I found the experience pleasant, the food good(and, coming from the Northwest, I’m pretty well versed with seafood), and found the waitstaff attentive and helpful. Their wine advice was well-considered and nicely paired. Overall it’s a nice place for a fairly quiet dinner in view of the illuminated dome. Top it off with a stroll through the darkened streets of the surrounding neighborhood, and it makes for a pretty darn pleasant evening. I believe the price for two with wine and dessert was about $ 120USD on my second visit and about $ 45 for one(probably had a little more wine than I should have) on my first. That was with an exchange rate a little north of 1.4. It would be a bit cheaper, I suspect, these days(12⁄2012).
