I wandered down here on the recommendation from staff at my hotel.
What a great little pub! I sat at the bar and ordered a beer and almost right away I was engaged in conversation with the local patrons and the bar manager (I think his name is Robert). What a friendly bunch. The pint (s) of Beamish were outstanding.
This is definitely a locals pub. It’s cozy, rustic, and probably hasn’t changed much since the invention of the radio. Stay real, Callanans.

I am always wary about posting the best kept secrets in the city, but this really is one of them… a great old bar with a wide bottled beer selection… only a couple of taps but the Beamish is the best in Cork… it rocks on a thursday night! must be seen to be believed and gets a great crowd… this is what bars are meant to be like… not a bit of chrome in sight!
