My expectations were high because all the waitresses were Italian and I thought this place is really authentic! I have to say that the service and the atmosphere were great but I was really disappointed regarding the food. My pasta with seafood was cooked as in a typical Italian restaurant for tourists… the cook tried to make it taste better by adding some tomato relish but with no success. I tried to cheer me up with the dessert and I ordered a typical chocolate cake with hot fondant filling but I received instead a kind of brownie some chocolate sauce on it. My friend was more lucky as he ordered a pizza which was really good.

This is one of my favorite restaurant in Dublin. I am a fan of Italian food so I almost tried all the Italian restaurant in Dublin and this one is a must. The ambiance and atmosphere is kinda slightly fancy which I really like. The waiters are extremely nice. I went there 4 – 5 times so I think I met all of the waiters and they’re all so gentle all the time. The food is good and their pizzas are incredible! As an Italian lover, what I love the most is the typical sharing platters. And I must say that it’s because of that I didn’t put a 5 stars. I’ve been to some other places where you could really feel and taste like you were in Italy. Which is not the case here. I mean, everything was good. But I wasn’t impressed. I could have find the same cheese and the same cured meat in yes I myself. Other than that. The main courses are just amazing. All of them.(I know I didn’t try them all but because I’m a regular, I tried most of them and was never disappointed).

I have eaten here a few times, the first time I had a bad experience but the manager made a grand gesture(took my main course off the bill without any prompting from me). I decided to try it again(I am in town for 8’weeks on business) and was glad I did. Food was good, service was good and friendly staff.

I rarely go eat Italian in Dublin, since I’m Italian myself and I cook quite a bit. I decided to try Bar Italia today and I am so glad I did. The starter, Bar Italian Antipasto, was actually amazing, would definitely recommend it and it was big enough to share. As main course I tried the house special, pasta with truffle cream, it was genuinely delicious. The service as well was really good, really friendly and nice waiters. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat some authentic Italian food.

Not bad, not spectacular. Bar Italia is a fine place to eat good italian dishes. I’ll have to try more dishes in the future, I can just talk about what I had: a perfectly fine pizza(with chunks of REAL tuna and very nice olives) and a nice chocolate cake for dessert. As I say, I liked it but it didn’t drive me crazy, one thing you expect(at least I do) when you go to an Italian restaurant. PS. The pizza was big enough(this is always important for me).

Unilocal doesn’t often lead me astray, but this was a big Unilocal fail. The portions are small, the flavor mediocre, and the prices high which altogether leads to a disappointing meal. I had the minestrone soup and pear/goat cheese salad. The soup was so oily and bland. The pear/goat cheese salad was even more disappointing than the soup. The serving size was teeny, and the mix was all wrong. The lettuce was hard heart of romaine which didn’t work at all texture-wise with the giant glob of goat cheese(flavorless goat cheese, not at all like the wonderful goat cheeses we had in other parts of Ireland) and pear. The walnuts seemed raw and didn’t have the right crunch of toasted nuts. I had asked the waiter the size of the salad and he assured me it was quite large. After dinner I went to a Spar supermarket and got cheesy bread for less than a dollar — entirely more satisfying and filling than my entire meal at Bar Italia.

Finding ourselves in a country we had never experienced, I was having a particularly hard time adjusting to the different taste of certain food. We found Bar Italia and decided to give it a try as we enjoy Italian food. We love it! the pizza is delicious, light and tasty and perfect with a bottle of wine which is reasonably priced. We’ve visited Bar Italia several times during our stay and will go back at least one more evening. The staff i attentive and very nice. We enjoy the atmosphere and our time there.

A very nice restaurant managed by Italian! The service is very friendly and has the Italian touch which I would expect in an Italian restaurant. I followed the recommendation of the service staff and was really impressed by the authentic and well prepared food. The starter«polenta» is very special but not my favorite! Anyway, the pizza and the pasta dishes were deliciousness. We were seated in the basement. The atmosphere is my only critic point because the restaurant is targeted to get as much people as possible in this restaurant. This was made on the costs of decoration and atmosphere. But anyway it is a recommendation for all Italian food lover! Prices/Value relation is very good!

This is good pizza like that in northern Italy. I spent a whole summer there so I know enough.

Came here for dinner on St. Paddy’s Day(the place was filled but not packed, so we were seated immediately. I’m guessing most people were still out drinking or passed out next to a toilet somewhere) Service was PAINFULLY slow. Each minute we waited for our food seemed like a lifetime since we were all starving. It was like pulling teeth just to try to get our water glasses refilled. I ordered the orecchiette pasta with Tuscan sausage. The sausage had some kind of weird, rubbery texture to it, but the flavor was alright. The pasta was unbelievably bland. It just tasted like they just tossed some pasta with olive oil and served it to you. If I ever come back to Dublin, this would not be on my list of places to visit again.

I happened to be in Ireland during Good Friday, which meant all the pubs were closed. So, I decided to grab some Italian. I originally was going to go Taste of Emilia, but they were closed so I walked to Bar Italia and I am very happy I did. The food was great, very authentic and fresh. Started with the antipasti, then a pasta with Tuscan sausage. My friend had an eggplant parmigiana. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in Dublin and in the mood for Italian. Also, the service was good and very friendly. The only downside was I couldn’t enjoy a glass of wine with the meal, but it was one of only two days in the country when they don’t sell alcohol.

Needing a break from fish & chips, we decided to take a risk and try Italian food in Dublin. Bar Italia was really a nice surprise. The Antipasti plate(with marinated vegetables, olives and cheese) was simply great. The pizza was closer to ‘decent’ than ‘really great’ — the crust had a great texture, not heavy at all. I found the sauce to be slightly bland(i had to add some salt), but that is a matter of taste. Throw in a nice bottle of wine, everything reasonably priced — what’s not to like?

the menu here is so authentic that you cannot decipher much of it! i was too embarrased to ask what everything is, as i like to think of myself as intelligent and well travelled. add to that the fact i went out once with an italian so i SHOULD have understood it all. so there sat my friends sat waiting for my divine knowledge but it was rusty! but i didnt do too bad and i was only slightly out with my pronounciation which the italian waiter corrected, kindly and patiently! served me right for all the times i corrected my ex for his english! well anyhow i ordered a pizza which came out with a nice thin perfectly crispy base and plenty of toppings yeah! although the sliced boiled egg was a bit weird even for my weird tastes. i got a side of rocket salad which set me back a bit but the meal was delicious and washed down with a mimosa which is procecco(sp) and orange juice which got me tipsy and therefore yappy. my friends ordered lasagne and tagliatelle with bacon which to me looked quite boring and small in portion size but without a translator i think that was all they could understand! i was no use in that department as the only italian i could remember was rude stuff, which was not good in a nice italian restaurant. i’d have been out on my culo!

I loved the Bar Italia(yes same name) in sydney because it had fabulous coffee and I was hoping this one in Dublin would be the same but I am afraid it was a complete disappointment. Have not eaten here but any Italian restaurant that makes shit coffee does not rate well with me :-)

So I live nearby and found out they do take-away orders. I am overjoyed to have a far better option than pizza delivery for when I’m sick/rushed/lazy. The other night I ordered a pizza for hubs, an antipasto to share, and a dinner salad for myself. It was ready within 20 minutes and the food was incredible. At € 31 including free bread(I asked) it was an incredible deal and healthier than any take-away in the area. Pizza was Salsiccia e Patate(sausage + potato) without tomato sauce – unique and delicious with a perfect crust. The antipasto Delizia dell’orto was a mix of grilled veg, artichoke hearts, beans, olives, and cheeses to eat on toasted baguette slices. The Insalata del Pastore is what knocked my socks off – a goats cheese, pear, and walnut salad with honey dressing. I know fruit/cheese salads are everywhere but this one was exactly how I like it; loads of cheese and lettuce and really filling. I could eat that salad morning, noon, and night. Huge portions, fresh flavours, and friendly service; no complaints here!

Plus — table on the window next to the River Liffey, good salami and cheese plate, very good pizza. Minus — house red wine mediocre, mussels served with the pasta special were small and tasteless, service was uneven(long wait for the entrees after more recent diners were served)

For some reason, I’ve found myself eating a lot of Italian food this week. Lucky for me that some was from Bar Italia. Everything about the meal was just right. The food was delicious, I had the mushroom ravioli, my partner had chicken salad. Don’t get the ravioli if you don’t like cheese though. Rather than weighting down the plate with food in order to give the impression of value, the portions are human-sized, so even after a plate of pasta you’ll still be able to move. I’ll definitely be back, especially to try the gnocchi.

I’m never terribly adventurous when I go to Bar Italia. I know what I like, and the salami/rocket pizza is always a satisfactory pie. From pizza and risotto to pasta and antipasti, Bar Italia serves affordable dishes in an Italian-ish atmosphere. From 3 – 5 pm they offer any pizza or pasta with a complimentary glass of wine for € 12. That’s pretty sweet(for late-lunchers at least) as their pizzas are darn awesome.

I meet my sister here for lunch a lot as she works nearby, and the food is great. Really authentic, Italian, served to you by Italians. Now obviously, since it’s located in Dublin’s Italian quarter, it has some competition from the other similar restaurants located just feet away. But I think they all have something good to offer. I love Bar Italia’s antipasti selection from their lunch menu. I’m always really annoying and ask for a little bit of everything — some roast vegetables, some rocket, some parma ham, some crusty bread… I’m sure the staff LOVE me. I also love their soups too. The staff are really friendly and super charming.

Authentic, delicious and affordable are some of the words that come to mind when I think of Bar Italia on Ormond Quay. I went to this restaurant with two other friends a couple of weeks ago and we were not disappointed by the service, the atmosphere or the meal. In fact, we were delighted and I vow to go back again next time I fancy pizza, pasta or fish. We ordered two bottles of house wine for € 15.50 each and the Antipasto misto(a plate of Italian meat, olives and ciabatta) to start. I then had a Pizza Bar Italia which has sausage, mozzarella and rocket on it. I was so full that I couldn’t think of ordering dessert! Overall, I had a great experience here and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who has ever been to Italy.
