Delicious and great value for the money! I’ve been craving very flavorful, spicy Thai food ever since moving here, and Diep Noodle Bar is the ticket. The delivery was speedy, the curry was perfect and the coconut soup was perfect for my sore throat, and best of all — the value was amazing!

The atmosphere was nice with dim lighting, and the music was great. But my party of three around 8:45 on a Thursday night took over half an hour after the wee starter was cleared before we got our mains. Word to the wise: when the starter calls itself«bites,» believe it. It had a combination of four different starters, so we thought there’d be enough for three to share. Our mistake. I tasted two of the three mains ordered. The bf’s penang curry was really decent, but my Nua Pad Prik Sod tasted like generic Chinese soy-sauce-dressing with basil. On the plus side, the beef was quite tender. We visited with a friend of the bf’s who has spent time living in Bangkok. Our ginormous-bespectacled waitress asked him how spicy he wanted his pad thai and he said, «Normal Thai spicy.» She answered, «I don’t think that’s very spicy.» Sadly she was wrong– luckily, the kitchen sent his order out with a dish of chilli flakes so he could kick it up to his heart’s content. I might go back to try some other dishes, but the service and flavours of my own food left me underwhelmed. It’s true that the price tag wasn’t bad, though.

I am sick of being sick. Force feeding myself is not fun but necessary so instead of willing myself to make food, I ordered here. Service is über fast. I got the lime, coconut chicken soup. Bits of chili was in it as where mushrooms and bamboo mmm panda food. It was really yum but I could not finish it all. I also got the steak salad which was infused with heavenly mint. It was mainly meat with a lonely leaf of lettuce at the base which didn’t bother me too much as I need the iron more than the rabbit food. Including deliver about € 16… Very generous portions… Helped the illness on it’s very long exit from my body… It’s like having your distant relatives surprise visit you and they just don’t ever seem to get the hint to feck off.

Oh yes yes yussssss… DIEP!!! Kinda like the king of noodles… the head noodle… chieftan of the Noodle Clan hailing all the way from Noodle land and ruling over the worlds Noodle Consumption with an iron fist of Noodle Terror. DIEP have very high standards and they nearly always live up to them. They do a range of Thai food ranging from stir fries to noodle dishes, both hot and spicey and nice and tastey… DIEP is a treat in the same way that McDonalds was a treat when you were 6 years old. Yummmmmmmmy

Cocktails are € 6 from Thursday to Sunday but that’s not the only reason to visit Diep Noodle in Ranelagh. I love the Bangkok noodles and also the masaman curry. The food is good and has all of the quality that Diep le Shaker has but for a smaller price tag. It’s more informal and more buzzy. The cocktail barmen will also make you a cocktail that will change your life.

The younger brother or maybe son or certainly a close relative of Diep Le shaker(one of the best known restaurants in the city), but don’t for a second think this makes Diep in any way inferior to its big brother, father or whatever analogy you chose at the beginning of this paragraph… frankly I’m beginning to confuse myself… Diep is, without question, one of the best Thai /Asian restaurants in the city, not overly expensive and about as easy to get into at the weekend without a booking as doing that thing with the camel and the needle and the elastic band… er… lets just leave that bit shall we? So, book, book in advance and enjoy, there’s nothing in particular to recommend, it’s all good — I’m a sucker for the red curries(extra hot) always tremendous. Interestingly they do proper prawn crackers — not the white(I cant believe they’re not bleached tayto snacks) variety but the dark proper prawn crackers, really nice but take a bit of getting used to after the other!

Another great Dublin 6 eating house and a Ranelagh favourite for sure. Located at the Rathmines end of the village, near the LUAS stop. Diep is a fast growing Irish owned chain with two take aways, posh ones that is. As well as a very plush city centre restaurant, which this Unilocaler very much enjoyed and fell out of, all the name of a well rounded website of course! Diep noodle bar offers a great atmosphere and simple, fresh and well prepared eats. Its one of those places that seems to thrive on a big crowd and has a great buzz about the place. The place isn’t huge but you wouldn’t know it as the space is well used with an upstairs mezzanine and a huge airy vaulted roof. Diep is great for groups too but be sure to book. Food wise the menu is pretty straightforward if a small bit limited. With starters, soups, salads, noodles, stir fries, curries, fish and rice dishes on the a la carte menu. Everything here is pretty good, with the curries getting a special mention, they are hot though. Bangkok noodles also good and not being a massive noodle fan thats saying something. If your a fish lover the Hor Mok is the business; ‘Steamed white fish in banana leaf with red curry paste and Asian greens’ its also really hot so be prepared! Diep has a nice bar at the front and does its own range of Asian themed cocktails. They don’t deliver but the Diep @ home takeaway store is just down the road. Theres also live Jazz on Sundays.

Fantastic Thai and Vietnamese dishes can be found here. The food is fantastic and good value for money. The establishment is very modern, minimalist and funky which sets the atmosphere for this buzzing place. Always a table available due to the fast service! A great place to have dinner.
