Yap for Unilocal brought us to a place called Super Miss Sue I was ever so excited, it made me go ‘woohoo’! Scanning the menu –hmmm, not a whole lots of fish There wasn’t much option, than to go for an eggy dish The west coast crab & poached eggs is what I went for Ooh lala, they tasted so good, this tasted like more! The eggs were poached to perfection… drool! Smiles around the table, yeah… this place is cool! One star knocked off, as I find it a little bit dear But I’ll finish this review now with a cheer: ‘Thanks a million to the lovely Emily You made us one big happy Unilocal Family’

Oh yeah! The SMS brunch menu is a contender alright! Its almost to hard to make your choice of brunch as the more you read the menu the more you want each item on it! My pick was the Duck Sausage & egg Muffin, red onion, rocket & crispy onions. Did I have high hopes? Yes. Did it deliver? YES! The sausage(shaped as a burger patty) is almost like a pulled duck burger if you can get your head around that one! Very tasty and the egg on top is just magic! The portion size is just bang on leaving just enough room for a dessert after. after being seated the staff were very quick to get around and make sure we all had drinks and water, the food was also brought out very quickly, the timing was perfect. As I said earlier, the menu has a lot to choose from, a great reason to go back for more. :-) Oh, nearly forgot to thank Emily from Unilocal for laying on this amazing spread! Its good to Unilocal — the rewards are great! #Elite2016

Thanks to a Yap on Unilocal event I got to come here to try out brunch. Greeted by friendly waitresses, and tap water before we had a chance to look at the menu, I picked sparkling ginger to drink, and West Coast Crab Salad, poached eggs, hash browns and hollandaise for my meal. Beautiful presentation, nice, memorable napkin designs and delicious food, it seemed a good place to come for brunch. My one complaint(this is personal preference) was that the brunch menu was very egg based — other than the caramelised pink grapefruit, or pancakes(I know they contain eggs but less egg tasting ones), every other dish available contained eggs as an essential component,(fried, poached, scrambled etc). Not being a big fan of eggs, this made options more limited/meant you are almost forced to eat them. If you are a fan — then it’s the place for you.

Was very lucky to be treated to a brunch here as part of a Yap on Unilocal event this weekend. I had never been to Super Miss Sue as I had gotten the impression that the menu was exclusively fish based, and I am vegetarian. Turns out I was wrong about this and they actually have a nice varied menu, with fish being their speciality I believe! We got to try their brunch menu, which offered some nice variations on your typical brunch dishes. I decided to try the Baked Eggs. They were billed as «Bloody Mary style, with croutons and celery salad». I thought this sounded really interesting so I was looking forward to it! The dish I got was nice but did not quite live up to my expectation. It was basically a tomato based sauce with three eggs sitting on top, and some shaved celery. It was only when I was half way through that I realised they had forgotten the croutons. While it was nice enough, it didn’t blow me away. I did feel that the price of € 14 was quite expensive for what I got. Overall I think maybe I just chose the wrong dish for me, everyone else’s food looked lovely so I’d be willing to give them another try.

I’ve heard a lot about super miss sue but mainly for the sea food and fish and chips. A friend recommended me the place for brunch. Went there around 1 and we got a table for 2 without waiting. However it got busy pretty fast as the place isn’t big. I loved the interior with the bar. Ordered the grilled cheese with fries and a fried egg. It was delicious. I have to say we waited for 45′ but the staff was so nice that we actually didn’t mind.

A tasty Saturday brunch with my fellow Unilocalers, sure what else would ya be doin?! Glad I finally had an excuse to come here and it was yum. I had the spinach risotto which was rich and heavenly, it was missing the poached egg but the dish didn’t suffer for it. The crispy ham on top added a lovely texture so I was certainly satisfied. The crab salad looked fab and would try that next. Not the best brunch I’ve had but all in all worth a visit!

Lucky me had some delicious brunch here today on a Yap on Unilocal event. Class place, great location and very good first impression when you are walking in. It’s chic, service staff is very friendly and their main feature fish stands out looking at the counter. Reading about Super Miss Sue I got very excited about the crab salad, obviously that was my choice this afternoon. With a group of 10 people food envy can happen pretty quickly but, the crab salad was the best choice great hash browns, topped with crab meat, 2 poached eggs which were perfectly done and sauce hollandaise betted with some greens. I ate every single piece of food of my plate and as far as I could see everyone who had the same did the same too!!! …one of the girls had a spinach risotto with Parma ham, I tried it and it was delicious — I might go for it next time. Price wise SMS is quite high, the crab salad is 15 € which I believe could be slightly less, however it’s amaZing!!! On the other hand drinks are ok, I had a sparkling ginger for 2,50 € — a price not to top. One thing I’d love to see different — brunch menu has really only one fish dish — come on, you guys are known for the shipper next door and for being great with fish, is there nothing else you can create? Another great weekend brunch spot in town — coupled with the company of Emily and fellow elite Unilocalers, even better! The crab salad with poached eggs and hash browns was inventive and delish… not a trace left on the plate when I was done. Big call out to the spinach risotto with crispy ham as well which was mighty tasty. Service was attentive and all dishes were served up at the same time, which is always a major thumbs up for me when dining in a big group. Will definitely come again — and pair my brunch with a jug of mimosa!

Got a fantastic brunch here for the Yap on Unilocal event. I’ve wanted to try this place for ages, but the lack of veggie options here means it is hard to get my girlfriend to go here. That said, there are actually a few things on the brunch menu for the herbivorously inclined. The place has a nice ambiance; brightly lit, cool artwork featuring old style diving suits and 50s style pinups. I ordered a Bloody Mary to start with. It was the nicest Bloody Mary I have ever had. It was nice and spicy and garnished with a pickle, an olive, a giant prawn and chili flakes. I would recommend these to people who don’t even like Bloody Marys(Maries?). I ordered the the duck sausage with English muffin. It was pretty amazing. The duck sausage is more like a duck burger; a giant meaty patty of delicious duck. It was tender and delicious. Its served with red onion and a fried egg on top. It also comes with rocket leaves and crispy onions. A couple of people in the group ordered the same and were not disappointed. I ordered a side of Hollandaise sauce and turned it into an improvised Duck Benedict.(I think everything should come with Hollandaise sauce to be honest). My one complaint would be that there were very few crispy onion pieces and a lot of rocket. It was a bit bland; very lightly dressed and basically just a pile of leaves, not even a salad really. I would definitely be back to try some other brunch dishes and definitely another Bloody Mary.

Went there for Brunch. The Bloody Maries were quiet tasty, but super spicy so beware. My West Coast Crab was delicious. Of the different brunch items we got at the table mine was the most liked when we sampled everyone else’s. We were not able to reach them over the phone to make a reservation but they were easily able to accommodate a party of 6 at noon with no wait.

We came here for a glass of wine at the bar a few months back before dinner plans somewhere else, and the place was bustling! We kept enviously eyeing the dishes being brought out around us, and we vowed to come back to try their food. One Sunday, we made a last-minute decision to pop in for brunch and it was pretty empty inside(never a good sign). We ordered the SMS grilled cheese with oxtail marmalade & fried egg and the ham hock eggs benny(hollandaise on the side). Both dishes sounded so promising but were really disappointing. The grilled cheese was ok, but it was very heavy on bread and I didn’t taste the oxtail marmalade at all. The fries were soggy and I don’t know what the vision of the chef was with the fried egg just sitting on the plate instead of being in the sandwich. The ham hock eggs benny was worse. It was bland and watery — the ham had been so overcooked, all the flavour had been boiled out of it. On top of that, it wasn’t cheap. With a couple juices and a coffee, our bill came to almost € 40… definitely not worth it. To be fair, we haven’t had a proper dinner there, but after our brunch experience, I’m reluctant to go back.

I went here a couple of weeks ago for brunch. I had their West Coast Crab and Poached Eggs which was basically a delicious mix of crab with a more traditional kind of benedict presentation. The seafood was fresh, the ambience was inviting and the service was good. The only downside was my friend’s risotto which came out very bland and even a little bit soggy. Her chips were delicious but the risotto did put a bit of a dent in an otherwise nice brunch. I’m looking forward to going back sometime soon for dinner and trying some of the seafood from their case. Judging solely by appearance, their fish and seafood really looked incredible.

I went to meet up for brunch with a fellow Unilocaler and as always I came prepared. I knew what I wanted. I was early so I ordered fries to start. My friend arrived and we finished the fries together and ordered. I had the spinach risotto and honestly it was not good, it had very little flavor and the spinach was so soggy like it had been there for hours. My friend enjoyed his meal and I am sure I will be back here to try some of their seafood options.

Disappointing service from SMS today. Booked in a table for 6 for brunch at 12.30 as my parents were in Dublin for some shopping. Somehow there was a confusion in the booking(2 tables of 6 booked under the same first name). These things can happen but they really made no meaningful effort to either apologise or to accommodate us at the time. Although they mentioned they had another large booking coming in, the restaraunt had many free tables. But what I found most unprofessional was they almost made it seem as if they didnt believe I had actually made a booking. So we left dissappointed and having to battle the busy December brunch trade to try and find a place that could fit us in. Poor service from an establishment with prices to expect much better!

I was very impressed by SMS. It’s been somewhere I’ve been meaning to try for a fair while now. I got the meat platter and the mozzarella. All of it was delicious, really good. Of course it was far far too much for little me(ha), so they kindly boxed up what I didn’t eat and I brought all the left over loveliness home with me. My husband wasn’t as impressed as me though. Reckons for the price they could be more imaginative with each fish type instead if offering the same sauce and sides with all the fish on offer. Alas I don’t think anywhere will live up to Fishy Fishy café for him. The toilet is quite cool and nicely decorated, but it is far far too dark to see what you’re doing. Which must make it very difficult if you’re a man. You need a bit if light to aim, amirite?!? Sadly the loo did smell like somewhere a man would pee in the dark. I’d go back again. But not sure I’d be able to convince hubby.

Great place to go after a few pints in Grogans. The food is savage. I’ve been to the chipper part twice now, got the cod the first time and then the haddock last night. Both are nice but I preferred the haddock, maybe because it was a bigger portion Chips are cooked perfectly and I like the way the takeaway part serves Peroni and has good music on. Also get a portion of onion rings, they’re unreal.

The Tuna tostadas are absolutely fabulous — a must when you eat here. Also the scallops on a crab & saffron risotto beautiful as were the courgette flowers filled with goats cheese.

I have a feeling that I’m going to have an updated review for this place. It’s kind of a weird setup, it seems to be 3 restaurants in one so it’s hard to judge. I’ve had food from the chipper part and the upstairs restaurant. So i ate consecutively two days in a row. First time in the upstairs and second time our office ordered in from the chipper part. I found the upstairs area for lunch nice, but a little sterile & cold. The seats were noticeably uncomfortable. I ordered the hot & sour octopus salad which was nice, full of flavour but overall a little sickening. It would be better as a side as 2 or 3 bites rather than a full on salad. I wasn’t too impressed overall. Secondly the chipper food was good for what it was, good chipper food and I was a MASSIVE fan of the onion rings. The cod burger was a little underwhelming and the level of batter on it was just on another level(A LOT), haven’t these guys heard of light tempura batters? In saying that, I’m not the type of person who’ll clamour for chipper food unless I’m in a very particular mood(drunk?). I plan on updating this review when I visit the downstairs area but for now, Super Miss Sue is just mildly impressive. In short: Decent chipper, decent lunch place, not my first port of call for either(and I love seafood).

Visiting Super Miss Sue on Drury Street( ) has been on «the list» for quite some time as I kept being told by at least one person that you get the best fish & chips in Dublin here… Booked in here for brunch on Easter Saturday. Starting with drinks we both chose fresh lemonade. The lemonade was tart and refreshing. This was badly needed(thanks to the amount of alcohol consumed the night before!!!) I had a Kir Royale and my fiancé chose a Grapefruit Fizz… Now food. He chose the Norwegian Eggs. The eggs were perfectly oozy and served on brioche with smoked salmon, Hollandaise Sauce and chips. I chose the very very grown up Fish Finger Buttie — you need to eat this with a knife and fork or else you’d need a private room so you can be as messy as you like!!! The fish fingers, crushed peas and tartare sauce served on v fresh bread with lots of chips. I don’t eat potatoes but I tried one and I have to say it was actually rather good as chips go! I think he enjoyed eating them though :) Desserts was a choice of Rum Baba or a Chocolate Orange Pot. I always leave room for dessert and I decided on the Chocolate Orange Pot served with vanilla ice cream and nuts. There was two spoons placed on the table and he did give it a little try. He didn’t like the nuts but I got to eat most of it and it was really good. We got two Americanos with dessert. My only issue with the coffee was that it was brewed a little too hot. I noticed the table beside us ordered the Shellfish platter. That looked bloody impressive!!! I have to say this has to be one of the nicest meals I’ve had in the last year. I’ve put it on the list for places to return to…(Perhaps for dinner!)

Finally I gave in and agreed to go to SMS but for brunch as I wanted to get s feel for the place. We were seated at an awkwardly placed table that backed onto the bench and the waitress had spacial awareness issues so I kept getting hit up against. To drink we had the lemonade which was too sweet but nice and we had some fizz in the form of Kir royale and grapefruit. Portion sizes are big but I suffered through my hardship and enjoyed my Norwegian eggs. The eggs were oozing and the chips reminded me of old style chunky chips. The fish finger buttie was a cool concept. Desert was a disappointment some choclate orange blossom layered thing. Not that nice. Coffee again brewed too hot and wasn’t great. I think I would like to go back for dinner.
