I worked at the Kozie II for 3ish years on and off. How I miss that place…

Used to be a regular here at lunchtimes on a Thursday(at least) because of football matches later that evening. Alex, the Belarusioan chef, was a gentleman that was affable and knew his customers and what they wanted. Once he asked me what I wanted and I was torn between two dishes at the carvery. So he joked that I should have both., i went for the stew in the end and a moment after sitting down, he arrived over with a dessert dish of the other option I had in my mind and said that I’d know what it was like for the next time I was faced with such a choice. Excellent! He would often ask if you wanted a bit more on your plate and wasn’t afraid to give you a nice big portion, It also had a cosy(or Kozie) fireplace downstairs which is great in the winter when the cold sets in.

One of lifes great mysteries here… or of Qs anyway! I am not at all sure why this is called the Kozie II — was there a Kozie I? No one can tell me! It is a grand wee bar with lots of nice flowers on the outside and constant live music on the inside! Also on the inside is comfortable seating and well poured pints — what more do you need on a Tuesday afternoon… er. I mean Friday evening!
