I love tapas and for me the Port House and all its branches offer one of the best tapas in Dublin. I always go for the calamari and churros for dessert.

I love tapas! The port house has a great vibe, tapas are really good and the vine is yummy too… additionally it’s so handy located, Dundrum Shopping Centre. What else do you need? The service is really good, they are friendly and look after you! It is on the higher end related to pricing, but from time to time you should afford it.

Good food, friendly service, good atmosphere. Not bad value, 6 if us, including 3 kids for under 80 euro. Unusually however, no functioning wifi, waiter started to give me a wifi card but was very complicated and only lasted for 15 minutes. It was easier to get wifi on a recent transatlantic flight. Please fix this !!! Well done on everything else. Would have been 5 stars if wifi worked !!!

Great big cosy smoking area. You can wrap yourself with the blanket and sit there forever. Nice food. I like the concept that you can take few small portion instead of one big meal.

I really enjoyed my dinner I had here with a friend. The wine was good, the selection of tapas available was very extensive and the atmosphere was lovely. The food came pretty quickly and we didn’t have to wait to long(despite it being 7pm on a Friday in Dundrum). So all in all, I would definitely recommend popping in here if you are in the area. It is a bit out of the way, as you might not see it depending on the angle you are coming from, but its definitely worth hunting for! :D

Great ambience – dark, cozy, cave-like and an easy location. Enjoyed the salads, shrimp skewers, meatballs, and portobello mushroom. Wine list was good and varied. The service was a bit scattered. We had four servicing dropping in regularly asking the same questions but this I can easily overlook given the warm vibe and good food.

I’ve been here a few times over the past couple of years. We dropped in last night to have a bottle of wine and were seated immediately. We ordered the Waltrauf but it was out of stock, so ordered the Eira dos Morous instead. As we had our wine we ordered some small dishes including olives, anchovies and churros, all were of the expected standard, not mind blowing but good. We finished with some dessert wine and port, again pretty good stuff is on offer in this regard. Only at the end of the meal were we offered any water for the table, which was a slight downer on the service. Overall, this place is a good option for tapas if you’re in the area and not TOO pricey.

Amazing food and wine, service very slow and a little attitudey at times. I’ll be back but only to the ones in town as I love The Port House but not for the service here!!!

Nice place. good food and decent service. Tapas appeal is as expected — a variety of tastes & ideal for sharing. Perfect stop for before, during or after a shopping trip to Dundrum. Tables were a bit close together and small in size. You could end up un-intentionally sharing tapas or grabbing a bite from someone else’s plate if you get very hungry! All considered — Nice place to eat and plenty of choice!

I love tapas and this establishment is attractive; so, I was roped in at first sight. I joined a small group of ladies for a celebration. It’s a good spot for a group; however, a crying newborn child was a bit of a distraction. I don’t think this is a good place for children. The seafood paella was very good; the tortilla was a slightly mushy; the sliced chorizo was tasty; and the croquettes were very cheesy. Overall it was a decent meal. I have had better Spanish food at small venues(i.e. El Toro Bravo in Dublin 8 — Portobello area.) But, this is agreeable if you head in without very high expectations for Spanish cuisine. As for getting there, I think the parking garage is a big mess and the fact that validating your parking ticket isn’t an option is appalling. That being said, unless your shopping at this indoor mall and willing to also pay for parking, I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to enjoy this particular spot. But, if you’re there already, grab your adult friends and enjoy some small plates together and good Spanish wine.

I’d been meaning to go back to Port House and sample more of the menu, to see if it could make up for my underwhelming first visit. Service this time was better, but I have to be honest the food was absolute crap. I ordered Lomo(cured pork with sea salt and paprika). I’m not sure what I was expecting, but for € 6.25, I definitely wasn’t looking forward to what was basically some salami, 3 small chewy baguette slices and a lettuce leaf. Booor-ing! Then I ordered the Paella de Pollo. Turned out to be an ashtray filled with glutinous Uncle Ben’s rice, 3 diced bits of chicken and lumps of courgettes and peppers. Again, bland as oatmeal and over priced at € 6.55. Obviously I wasn’t chancing dessert or coffee after the last time. I can’t tell whether this place is totally over rated, or if I simply don’t like tapas, but one thing’s for sure, I won’t be back here.

After I’d been led on an impromptu walking tour of suburban Dublin, my companion and I found ourselves hungry. Not necessarily starving, and also sadly a little bit poor. What to do? We wandered into Dundrum shopping centre and came across the Port House, which offers a huge variety of tapas dishes from about € 4 to about € 10 per portion. As it was sunny(what?!), we were able to sit in the the outside area, which is also a smoking area, well-ventilated and spacious with little tables that really only comfortably seat two. The service was prompt, even though the lone waiter was getting bombed with requests for things. I was impressed with him. We ordered two tapas dishes each– a plate of mixed beans, a tomato brushetta thing, steak sandwich, and a fried goats’ cheese and aubergine treat. I had a glass of wine(which was lovely) and there was water for the table. The portion sizes were quite large for tapas, plenty for just the two of us, and extremely tasty. The bill, even with my wine, was just over € 20. Great value! The one thing I didn’t like was the dolly-sized cutlery which annoyed my hands, but apart from that it was totally great and exactly what I wanted at the time.

I left The Port House last night with a smile and a statement that i wish I lived near one of these fine establishments. Great selection of Spanish Red wines, which are my personal fav! Big selection of wel priced tapas! And they embraced the VAT cut as shown by the lack of round numbers on the menu prices!(plus the signs all around the place were a giveaway :)) The atmosphere and décor are spot on, you could be anywhere. Staff are friendly and not obtrusive! We finished our food and there was no rush to leave, even though others were waiting on tables(you can’t book a table here). Unfortunately I live on the other side of the city… :(!

This, my fine friends, is a place to visit once, and then immediately realize that you’ll have to come back to again and again. It recently opened in Dundrum Town Center, which is a brave thing to do in this economy, but judging from the number of people who found their way there the night I stopped in, the gamble will pay off. Inside, it’s a candle-filled cavern with raw brick walls, tastefully muted décor, and clever arrangements of cutlery, which are kept in Pimenton de la Vera tins on each table. I could just hang out at the bar area all night, but ended up at a table that gave me a good view of the tables for my favorite spectator sport-people watching. The server happily walked me through the tapas options, explaining each thing that looked interesting, and then helped me pick a good wine. She was very friendly and her recommendations were spot on, both of which I have found to be rare lately. Then. OMG. The food. Grilled Asparagus to die for, shrimp skewers that dripped melted butter, and calamari that, once I removed the over abundance of batter, was better than awright. I think I need to make it back regularly just to eat my way through all the small plates. Only two things kept this from being a 5-Star review. One was the aforementioned batter. I come from calamari country, and the quality of the squid here was good, but severely undermined by the thick tube sock of batter that surrounded it, and would have been better lightly breaded and pan fried, and the slightly off taste of a deep fryer in need of cleaning would have been avoided. The second was the garlic mayo/aioli that came with two of the dishes-either it was ALL mayo, or it was so lightly garlicked that it was unnoticable. Don’t be afraid of flavor, people! Bottom Line-Go, take me with you…
