Since we were car-​less and staying at Friar’s Glen, this was our go-​to place. We had dinner here twice. And both times, we loved it!
We stayed about a 10-​minute walk from here. While enjoying some lovely Guinness, we had succulent burgers and/​or lamb stew. The meat was so tender, flavorful. Our second night, we were treated to a magnificent quartet of young Irish musicians and some Irish dancers. They even played Johnny Cash!
The clientele was very «American,» and it attaches onto a hotel, so at first, I thought it would be a tourist trap. But I loved it. Great food, great service, great music, great craic!

A great menu, live music and the chance to have your own beer mug numbered and hung up above the bar. right outside the National park too.

Molly Darcys, on the Muckross Road, was the Black and White Pub of the year in the dim and distant past. Many tourists have been back and forth that road since then but the pub, attached to a hotel, is not doing at all badly, though you’d have thought the maintenance work, which put the outside benches out of commission, going on this week would have been done at the start of the season.
Killarney was very busy and there were quite a few in Mollys in mid-​afternoon, some snacking, some drinking and some doing both. We were met by a smiling waiter on the way in and ordered coffees which were brought to our table. The coffee was better than average and top-​ups were available.
We enjoyed our interlude there.
