I’m a burger lover. I think I was hooked since I was a little kid, growing up on burgers being a nice weekend treat once in a while. I love AW patties, I suggested here to quell one’s hanger. That person gladly tried the buddy burger(at 3pm and with an impending dinner, a buddy burger is the best option). Fresh, meaty, savoury are all words that come to mind when thinking about AW burgers. Yum. Consistently fresh and satisfying.~

Their food is usually okay and I often times do like their burgers like Mozza burger or teen burger. But at this specific A&W I have a few bad experiences. Last time I bought something from them, I decided to order a couple of Buddy burgers, but unfortunately by the time I took it home, I realized they gave me a double buddy burger with cheese, so it just didn’t seem worth going all the way back to change my order and letting them know they got it wrong. My second bad experience was that the lady that was taking my orders and while she was doing the transaction, she look like she was about to get frustrated at me. She never officially yelled or did anything unprofessionally but I could immediately tell that her attitude was kind of disgruntled all of the sudden. But besides the disgruntled employees & order mix-ups, the only other problem is I recently found out their food are so expensive. I recently bought a burger combo and asked to replace the fries to onion rings, and a extra drink. So for a burger, 2 drinks, and onion rings, all for almost $ 14… $ 14 freaking dollars… AREYOUKIDDINGME!!! I COULD’VEBOUGHT A FEWSTEAKFROM A GROCERYSTOREWITHTHATPRICE!!! OHHECK, I’VEEVENSEENSOMESTEAKSWITHLOWENOUGHPRICESTHATWOULD’VELETMEBOUGHT2SLICESWITH $ 14. Their food is kinda tasty but not tasty enough to be so damn expensive. So this place is really just hit or miss because you’ll either love their food and get some good experiences or not or just get a mixed feelings about this place.

Lost in the shuffle of the busy Metrotown food court is this small A & W. Looking up when you get here they have the statues of the ‘burger family’ and if you just want a burger from them, you can either eat here, or walk over to Station Square, on this day, we decided to come here. I’m always more fond of the self location ones more than the food court, and one of the reasons is how the burger comes out. We ordered two ‘Teen’ burgers, with fries, and when I opened the bagged package(for those of you who have never had a burger from A&W they wrap their burgers in a bag!!) the burger looked like someone was playing Cooking Mama on ‘MAX’ difficulty, and needed to just put the right pieces in the right place to build a burger. The burger pattie was almost half way off the bun, with the bacon sliding to the other side, and the top of the bun was barely sitting on this whole display of burger art. I should not have to re-position burger parts when coming to a fast-food joint! The fries came out fresh from the oil, as they were piping hot, something that always seems to be the case at A&W, and I will give them props for that. As I said, it’s alright if you need the quick fix, but for me, I’d still rather go to their restaurant locations.

A&W used to rock but now it is a tired chain lost in the land of burgers. Granted I still like the odd Teenburger or Mozzaburger, that’s about it though. Chubby chicken not so much. Eh to the fries. I think A&W lost a bit of its charm when it went from the drive-in to the mall. I remember when my mom used to take us for a whistle dog. They don’t have them on the menu anymore but they are a hotdog wrapped in bacon with cheese. My sister and I liked those puppies. Now, you get a disinterested teenager with barely a sneer on her face asking you what do you want. When you get the burger, you regret you went there in the first place. Quite frequently you get a burger that has sat for a while, little congealed but the bun has just been toasted so it gives you the impression that it is fresh. Little tasteless, no real life in the burger, doesn’t explode in your mouth. Granted they are still in every mall and I see the odd line-up but she just ain’t what she used to be and that is truly too bad.
