I ordered the Vegan Fries. It was yummy! The concept was new. It was so filling! The price was average. It wasn’t fast, since many of the school children should have been in school, but they’re all shopping today(in the rain) for back to school!

Their fries and poutines are always tops! I enjoy the poutine with the shredded beef and carrots on top. It’s a meal by itself. Overall a good value and the workers at this location always make sure service is quick and the quality of the food is high.

Sometimes you do something stupid and against your better judgment. Eating at NYF is just one of these things. The fries are too brown, overly fried. Fries should be light golden brown in color like McDonalds or Costco fries. They should not be crunchy or their edges crispy. Because these fries are sooo overly fried, you must have something to smother or hide all the grease taste. I suggest ordering the processed cheese whiz and drench at the very least your fries with vinegar and the cheese whiz topping and ketchup. I tried the gravy one time and I regretted ordering it. There was nothing wrong with it per se, I just didn’t like their recipe. I also tried the butter chicken and while it was better than the gravy, it still wasn’t as tasty as the cheese whiz, vinegar, and ketchup topping. For what you get, the fries at NYF are outrageously priced. Not recommended.

Ahhh my go-to place for fuel at Metrotown. I usually order a regular sized poutine and a bottled water, and it comes down to around $ 7 – 8 for both items together. There are two sizes: small and regular. I think the small is only a couple bucks cheaper than the regular size. On a good day, they will serve you an overly heaping cup/bowl of poutine; on any other day, they still serve a somewhat big thing of poutine. Sometimes, the cheese curds will come out cold which is pretty disappointing but usually it’s fine. If they do come out cold though, just give it some time to soften up against the fries and gravy. I’ve also tried The Works and if you’re a chili/taco lover, this was delicious and is definitely worth a shot. They also have a vegetarian version of The Works which my friend harps about so maybe try that too if you’re not a meat-lover like me. It’s gets pretty busy during the lunch hour so maybe go earlier or later than 11 – 2. They provide free self-serve seasoning and you must try the California Sweet Barbecue!

Got the veggie poutine. Nothing really stood out. Pretty expensive for such a small portion. Typical mall food. Good for eating while moving.

A ok for mall food! I like their fries, they’re crispy and charred at the edges. Their gravy is ok, a little on the watery side. With the slew of gourmet poutine shops opening up, one doesn’t really have a reason to come here anymore haha! However it’ll suffice if you have a major poutine craving when you’re shopping at the mall haha.

The fries taste like stale bread, and the cheese curds were cold. Definitely not coming back.

Best poutine ever! I like my poutine heavy, messy and filling and this place gets the job done. Bonus points for having vegetarian gravy!

Got a combo with braised beef Poutine as a substitute rather than the regular Poutine. Price came to just under $ 11. A bit pricey for food court food. The hotdog was decent. It was better than an Ikea hotdog. The Poutine was small. The toppings was surprising good. Beef was tender and lots of sauce. Fries were crispy and fresh out of the fryer. Now the drink… cashier had filled the cup with ¾ ice so there was very little pop to sip on. I recommend no ice when you make your order or be prepared to be thirsty. I was at the other end of the food court so I did not bother to go back to ask for a refill. I have a hunch it would have meant paying again for a few sips of pop. Tried the corn topping on the side as I was curious and it was good. It was a tangy sauce mixed with corn.

Do you remember when this used to be THE poutine place before all the gourmet shops opened in Downtown Vancouver? For junk food poutine this actually isn’t bad, however, is the butter chicken really necessary? This is just a culinary insult. I come here when I have an entertainment coupon.

I have never had cause to complain about the fries at New York Fries, they’re reliable and always sizzling hot when served. It is what they do best. Today my husband and I were shopping at Metrotown and we thought we’d have the hot dog/fries/drink combo for two, they call it New York duo or combo or platter or something like that. Anyway it’s two hot dogs, two sodas and a jumbo fries. The fries were good, and the drinks typical soda fountain quality. Bonus to them for having Orange Crush on tap. The hot dogs were dreadful though. The frankfurter was not even warmed through, and the bun was stale. No amount of toppings can overcome a handicap like that. Good thing a jumbo fries is more than enough for two because that’s what we filled up on. Neither of us could stomach the hot dog. Service was good, quick and professional. They keep the line moving pretty well so no long waits. But… stick with the fries at New York Fries!

Love their poutine! Always loved New York Fries, even before they incorporated the poutine in their menu. Pulled pork? Yum. Reminds me of good ol’ Southern cooking. Braised beef? Oh my gosh. Delicous! Butter chicken? Who knew this would be so incredibly good? So why the 2 star rating? The service is absolutely not up to par to a standard fast food kiosk in a food court. The employees did not look thrilled to be there, would not look directly in your eyes when taking your order, were short and somewhat curt with you, and not a single«please» or «thank you» from either the cashier nor the one who handed you the order. Yes, I do understand that this is a fast-food facility, but sometimes a simple smile will be enough to bring me and my friends back over and over again. But the entire front staff was unpleasant and shall not see me again. No worries, there are other New York Fries in the area I can go to

I’ve always been a huge fan of their fries since forever. I also just tried their poutine before leaving Metrotown as I never had theirs before nor have I had poutines for a good long while, and I thought it theirs was delicious. There’s really only 2 things that kind of sucks about NYF: 1) They don’t have enough locations. I can only get to 3 of their places quite easily and the rest, I’m just not sure how to get to. So they need more locations. 2) The other thing that bothers me about this place is that I wish they have slightly more cheaper prices because with the amounts of fries they give us, they generally only give like a bit less then $ 2 worth of potatoes before quadrupling the price up and adding the taxes. I know they have a business to run but damn… But otherwise, their fries is just superb, perfectly salted, and you will get to have a chance to add a few condiments of your own like peppers and black vinegar as well and gravy + Cheese if you ordered the regular poutines. It’s going to be hard for anyone to beat them in terms of fries.

A-OK I am a poutine fan, this is not a secret. And I’m also a moderate fan of NYFries. I find it wonderfully ironic that no such thing exists in New York. Just as I’m quite sure there are no Canadian Tires in Sweden… I digress. Poutine here is as it has always been. A-OK. I am occasionally seduced by the new offerings of Butter Chicken poutine and the like but find the experience to be less enjoyable than that of the regular poutine, so I tend to stick to the original. Other places can have specialized poutines and often do them well; but if you already have a good product, why mess with it? Call me a purist. Except when I’m not.

My first poutine experience came in the form of … the food court at the mall? Yep. I had the pulled pork. It was mostly all sauce and barely any meat, which knocked it down a few stars, but it was SO good. The small size was more than enough for me. They carry several different types of poutine and hot dogs. That’s about it.

My wife has been craving the poutine, so we got em. I got the chicken curry and it wasnt bad at all. The place was busy, The price was a bit higher than I would have liked to pay. But it the taste was good. They had a few other options, like hotdogs, but we did not get them. The next one to try is braised beef poutine.

I’m a huge poutine fan, and just last nite, was impressed by the tennie bopper who served me. Before when the theatres had NY Fries, she gave me the most ever fries, gravy, cheese curds(if it’s real, that is, haha) — without me asking her. Back in the day, you almost had to plead w/the Silvery City ppl to give you more, and got a dirty look in return. But what was cool that with the increase in height w/the extra fries, and her trying to squeeze all of it under the dome takeout container(yes, it was takeout), and the fries hanging around the edges, she actually used 2 plastic forks to shove them inside, without using her fingers. Impressed!

Tried the new Butter Chicken and Braised Beef poutines. The fries were excellent as always. Could have used more cheese. The flavour of the 2 sauces was ok but the picture shows pieces of meat and the meat in the sauce is all stringy. This makes the sauce seem REALLY thick and hard to get some on each fry. Glad I tried it but wouldn’t order it again unless they worked out the issues with the consistency.
