Really filling food and very garlicky taziki. I really like the lamb shank where meat is very soft and falls off the bone. There are And bigger plates with variety where u can share. Lamb Slovaki one skewer. Not a lot of meat but the lemon potatoes and rice will fill you up!

We love this place and have been there many times — lucky to have it in the hood. The highlights: moussaka, fasoulata(sp?), dolmathes, and all the regular grilled meats. I love the family platters. The service is friendly and sometimes over-the-top special with kids. My only wish is a veggie moussaka.

When we went in it was around 2 and the guy at the front(I’m assuming the owner, he took our order and served us) was busy having lunch so when we walked in he was rather abrasive! As for food the souvlaki(lamb and chicken) was great, and the tzatziki was amazing, very authentic. Others in the party ordered a 3 item appie platter and it was rather disappointing given the price they paid and the plate they received was a tiny plate with hardly anything on it. Overall the dinner dishes are great, skip the appie page and possibly be ready for a bit of abrasive behaviour.

My boyfriend and I had dinner here on Valentine’s Day. We ordered one of the Combination platters(FORTHIAFORA) and throughly enjoyed our meal! The service was excellent! It was so busy that night yet our table was ready right on time and we didn’t have to wait long for our drinks or food items(considering it was incredibly busy that night! Because it was Valentine’s Day one of the staff(not sure if he was the Manager or owner) gave everyone a free shooter drink he prepared in a test tube like glass — this was such a nice added touch! The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice. There was also a belly dancer and they even did the traditional dish breaking as they yelled«opa»(no idea how to spell that). As we left we were approached by I believe the owner asking us how everything was — another nice added touch. I would definitely go to this restaurant again and will highly recommend it to others(already have!).

My daughter specifically asked to go to Cristos for her birthday dinner. We have good Greek restaurants in New West where we live, however the drive to Cristos is worth it. This is a second time to the restaurant and both times were equally impressive. Be sure to have the brown pita bread. Everything we ordered was awesome. My daughter was invited to break a plate in celebration of her birthday. OMPA!

while visiting and staying in Burnaby, wanted a Greek restaurant and chose this one. although we arrived a bit close to closing time the staff still greeted us in and made us comfortable(there were a few other tables occupied so we didn’t feel like the last ones). the wait staff were very friendly and nice to our 1 teen daughters, and did not rush us through the meal at all. we enjoyed a combo platter which had plenty of solid, good tasting Greek dishes(chicken souvlaki, dolmas, lamb, rice and potatos and a yummy Greek salad and fresh pita bread with tezliti.). The kids had chicken tenders with some overly salty fried potatoes, so that was a bit disappointing. It is a bit pricey for the food, the restaurant is light and airy with pictures of Greece and hanging plants all around. The Greek music playing was just a little too loud maybe. But all in all a good experience.

solid 3.5 stars, maybe even a 4, but measuring up to my beloved Vassili’s is no easy task ;) Recommend this place in a heartbeat if you’re in this northern part of burnaby, as it’s cozy, albeit a bit tight, and my VIP seating is the table at the front on the left when you first walk in. nice friendly staff, and solid food. Also offer catering too. Owner dresses up in a unique traditional costume too, worth the entertainment and sometimes greets you too.

A rainy Friday evening, and we were looking for a nice, quiet place for dinner. We were early, and when we arrived the restaurant was quiet. We were seated at a small table, but when the waitress learned we were having a platter to share, we were moved to a table that would accommodate the platter and our plates in comfort. We ordered appetizers, the waitress took our orders, but neglected to tell us that appetizers came with the platter. Thankfully, another staff member(manager maybe) cancelled the appetizers we ordered. By now, the noise level in the restaurant had risen considerably. There is live entertainment whose noise level seems to rise in direct proportion to the patrons trying to have a conversation with each other. In other words, you can forget about a meaningful conversation. A belly dancer entertains patrons as well, and again the noise level increases proportionately. Added to this cacophony of noise is the sound of breaking plates — yes, the restaurant follows a Greek tradition of allowing patrons to break plates. We were seated in the upstairs dining room which has room for about 20 — 25 guests, and added to the noise already described are the sounds emanating from the kitchen, complete with what sounds like a fire bell every time an order is ready for pick up. If you like noise — by all means this restaurant is the choice for you. The food is good, but not outstanding. The only thing in it’s favor is that I did not have to listen to wailing, whining kids!

I went to Cirstos with high hopes, because I had been craving Greek food for days. Sadly, I was highly disappointed by my experience at Cristos. Firstly, their vegetarian options are extremely limited. I ended up ordering the spanakopita(which I generally love), but I could not finish it because it tasted overwhelmingly like nutmeg, black licorice, and little else. Secondly, the service was also a disappointment. The women who served us was neglectful and when we tried to get her attention on a few occasions(like to get a refill on water and ask for the bill) she acted as if we were imposing on her.

Located on the outer fringes of Burnaby Heights, it’s too easy to drive by without noticing this place. Parking is available in a small lot beside the building, as well as on Hastings during certain hours. The inside is modelled like your typical Greek establishment, with that garden patio feel. Typical, but nice. The inside is split between upstairs and downstairs, so you can have a slightly better view of the parking lot if you so desire. Staff were professional. My friend brought his kid with him, and the staff gladly provided a colouring book and a bowl of crayons. The lamb souvlaki was very good. Nice and moist. The Greek salad was also pretyt good as well. Most places make this dish way too sour, but not here. My only complaint was that there was only 1 skewer. It would’ve been nice if there were 2. With that said, the chunks of meat were larger than normal too. I will definitely be back. Recommended.

Went here for my mother’s birthday last month. Walked in here and it looked like a typical greek restaurant. Place was clean and felt very homey. I had the calamari dinner, it was pretty mediocre. The calamari was not crispy at all, didn’t taste fresh and under seasoned. Rice was bland and the potato was bearable. I do however enjoyed the greek salad, it was very fresh and the feta was on point. Staff was nice but didn’t really check up on us. Was dying of thirst for a couple minutes because the staff was tending to another party. I still however would pick OPA over this place anyday.

One of the previous reviews said it perfectly. I’ve definitely had better greek food. BUT The servers and staff are AHHHHMAZING One of which actually worked at a previous greek restaurant my family and I used to frequent until they closed, she now works at Cristos! She’s a sweet older blonde woman, I don’t remember her name but shes LOVELY We haven’t seen her in years but she remembered the entire family! The atmosphere is awesome too. Not high end or anything, but comfortable, clean, and welcoming. Every time I’m there with my family, we have an awesome experience. I would definitely recommend this spot to any of my friends :)

As far as I remember, the food here has been consistent every time I’ve visited. Having not been in a while, I decided it would be a good place to take the family to it this past weekend. The ambiance is still there, the prices still reasonable and the service is still outstanding, but the food quality has changed. The lamb shoulder was tender and flavourful as always, but I found that other dishes weren’t as flavourful like I remembered. I ordered the Grilled Skaras(squid) meal and found the squid to be flavourless and a little rubbery. I ended up slathering each piece in Tzatziki to amp up the flavour. The rice and potatoes were just right, not too salty and a good complement the Greek salad, which was a little salty due to it being covered in feta cheese. Most of the family members ordered the lamb shoulder and they were happy with their meals. My sister ordered the Lamb Souvlaki meal and I snuck a piece of lamb from her. It was overcooked and too tough for my tastes. In addition to the lamb shoulder meal, my grandparents shared the spinach pie meal and they liked the pie very much. So if you happen to stop in and it’s your first time, order the lamb shoulder meal and you won’t be disappointed. As for anything else on the menu, I’ll let you decide what you think.

Came here for lunch with some co-workers. Place was pretty empty so our servers were really attentive. Food was good. We all got multigrain pita bread, which I’ve never had before. It was good. I had moussaka that came with rice, potato, and a little salad for $ 15 with tip.

better than the other place… we get take out from here — its close enough but one thing that we have noticed is — its salty! 2 of the last 3 times its been very salty(we ordered the Cristos Platter). Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen the 2⁄3 times we ordered. one final thing that bothered me — when paying for my pick up order, the person processing the transaction(credit card) said, «you can leave a tip on the next screen»…I got the impression that I had to. dont get me wrong when I eat in an establishment I tip 15−20% depending on the service, however — in this case, I am picking up the food, someone in the kitchen put it in the bad, I have no idea how the foot tastes… so why should I tip? I would probably try it again if we are craving greek.

Good food, service was a bit slow. Breading on the calamari was a bit soggy. We were seated in the corner of the dining room, right in front of a heating vent. We were so hot from the heat blowing directly on us– it was like a sauna under our table. I would avaoid that table — it is in the very front of the restaurant, to the right of the front door.

Update to my previous review. We’ve just come back to Cristos for dinner tonight. I reviewed this restaurant last month and rated it well. Tonight, however, we were aware that changes have been made. We ordered all our usual dishes; Calamari Skaras, Keftedes, Spanikopita, Greek salad and Taramasalata dip. It was obvious that the food did not live up the the quality preparation we were used to. We had a chat with our waitress and were advised that the restaurant was under new ownership as of about 5 weeks ago. I can’t fault the staff or owners. The service is very solicitous, warm and caring. The food, however, just didn’t live up to its former glory. The Calamari Skaras was bland and lacked any character. It used to be my favorite dish. The Keftedes resembled under-seasoned hamburger patties. It was disappointing, as we’ve always enjoyed the food at this local restaurant. We’ll be back to try it again and I hope they work through their growing pains. As much as I love the white table cloth service, the key to any good restaurant is the food and this just doesn’t measure up.

Have I had better Greek food? I would say so, however, Cristos was not the worst and definitely not the best. They stand on middle grounds, but perhaps better than your average Greek food. I think it deserves a 3.5 stars. My partner and I ordered the Cristos platter for two for $ 44.95. It should really be for three considering the size and the amount they give you. Waiter service was a tad bit slow, but considering that there were 20 of us there last night and only two people serving, it is understandable. Overall, it’s worth a try. Why not? It’s food we’re talking about here!
