This place is so good and the staff was amazing. The food was off the charts and I can see why this is one of the best places in Canmore. Highly recommend.

Service was excellent and ambiance was very nice. My only qualm is that the food was a teensy bit salty but I am picky about how salty my food is so it could’ve just been my personal taste. Otherwise, the food was very good and my fiancé and I really enjoyed our dining experience there.

Only our second time at a Tapas bar we thought we would be a little adventurous and give it a go! We ordered the winter ensalada, tostadas, Diablo potatoes, chorizo meatballs, and pork belly/scallops and all were quite tasty and well thought out. I wish their menu would have had some more«non-spicy options» particularly the meat dishes and unlike our previous experience they brought out only one dish at a time so if you want certain dishes together be sure to specify! Other than that the staff was very pleasant and their sangria was wonderful. We would definitely go back and try more dishes in the future!

Walking through downtown Canmore on a Friday night and looking for a light dinner and a glass of wine. This place was packed yet the Hostess suggested we return in a half hour and there would be space at the bar. Sure enough. After a quick dash over to Where The Buffalo Roam for a cocktail we returned and were rewarded with a delicious plato mixto charcuterie board and three items from their Canmore Uncorked menu(tapas winter ensalada, chorizo meatballs and a lemony cheesecake-style dessert). A lovely glass of Baltos Mencia complemented the meal perfectly. Local musician Andrew Ibanez was tucked away in a corner close to the bar playing classical guitar. Always fun to sit at the bar and have a conversation. Each dish was described in detail and very well presented. The check was just short of a c-note, still the ambiance and the food /drink made for a special evening.

Our food was good, our service was not. We enjoyed our food and drinks at Tapas and were having a good experience. Unfortunately, the moment we stepped out the front door at the end of our meal, we could hear the staff immediately begin degrading our appearance and clothing. We were waiting on the front deck for a cab and could hear loud, inappropriate comments from several staff members inside. It was unfortunate as we had enjoyed our food and experience but the rude and unprofessional actions of the staff ruined the experience for us and we will not be back.

We dined for Valentines Day dinner and arrived around 8:00pm without a reservation. Fortunately the friendly host was able to accommodate us very quickly. We enjoyed a half litre of the house sangria, a meat and cheese platter, and the chickpea stew with couscous. Everything was amazing! The meat platter had 3 types of cured meats, 3 cheeses with spreads, pickled veg, olives, and bread. The platter was a great size to share. The chickpea stew had a little kick of spice and was a good size to share as well but wouldn’t be large enough just for dinner. The restaurant had a great Spanish ambiance with a live guitarist. To finish off our meal we enjoyed a cappuccino with a superb white chocolate crème brûlée. If you’re in Canmore looking for a romantic dinner with that someone special, look no further, you’ll have a fantastic evening.

We stumbled into Tapas upon a recommendation from a local merchant and we fell in love with everything they prepared for us. I love the intimate setting and thier attention to detail on every dish. Cindy served us and walked us through the menu with great recommendations. I can’t wait to return and savor the night away.

Excellent! From start to finish our service and meal was amazing. Because of the size of our group, we asked our server to recommend her favorites and popular items on the menu. Everything. … delicious!

There’s a select few dining experiences that are perfect from start to finish. We were lucky enough to get a late reservation at tapas. We chose it due to reviews. Driving from Calgary we overestimated our arrival time and ended up outside the restaurant about 45 mins before our reso. I asked the hostess and she was so sweet trying her best and she arranged a seat for us within about 10 minutes of our arrival… And it began… Lisa greeted us. She knew everything about the menu, the drinks menu and the food menu, she knew everything! She gave us advice in just the right way — no obligations to her choices. This is one of those places, I suspect, that the phrase«everything on the menu is great» is in fact an understatement. We went with some suggestions and some selections; as the name insists it’s a «tapas» restaurant: Spanish style small plates. We ordered: Eggplant mousse — omg! I’ve never had temperature be a factor in taste experience(I’m far from an expert!), but the contrast of warm perfect pita bread and cool Eggplant mousse blended exquisitely…(I’m kissing my fingertips!). Beef Carpaccio — I’ve rarely enjoyed Carpaccio, it’s always been«decent for raw beef» or a disappointment. The fried capers made it a wonderful explosion of the RIGHT flavor in my mouth. And again more than flavor the texture of the crispy capers with the soft beef… No words. Just try it! Portobello mushroom — perfect flavors. Cooked just right that you can cut it with a steak knife. And the textures of home made waffle chips. Chili gamba — shrimp done perfect. Sliced and«scampi»?(I Dunno if that’s correct but it sounds right!) such that the shrimp is perfectly covered with the just«spicy enough» cream sauce(FYI I love spicy and hate when spice is bland) to enjoy the shrimp and the sauce. Again cooked to that perfect texture you rarely find with shrimp. Chorizo meatballs — they’re chorizo meatballs… Need I say more? Ok fine the sauce is PERFECT! I think tomato sauce but with some tangy chutney under it. Ribs — amazing Moroccan spice. Dessert — peanut butter chocolate mousse. As was everything else this was perfect in texture, flavor and richness. Fantastic experience with the server being the perfect quarterback to an amazing menu. Thank-you again Tapas for a wonderful evening. We will most definitely be back.

A real gem in Canmore. Best Papas Fritas I’ve ever had… An amazing tangy lemon drizzle makes them pop. The blue cheese mussels and the baked crab pot were also show stoppers. The décor is romantic and low lit, complete with live guitar music. Awesome wine list and very friendly staff. I wouldn’t miss it.

It was very unfortunate to find out from the General Manager that the restaurant and chef could not accommodate my wife’s intolerance to garlic. Accommodations could not be made and my wife would be limited to 15% of the menu — this usually means salad from past experience. For such a highly reviewed restaurant, I feel this review is necessary for those that have dietary limitations.

We ate here twice during a week-long vacation in Canmore and were very pleased. Service was friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent. They have a good selection of seafood and vegetarian options. Also, although it’s not primarily oriented towards groups with children, this place is kid-friendly.

Voted the most Romantic Restaurant in town, and I agree! Its a small place — which makes it feel even more warm and intimate. The décor is hip, classy and authentic. And if you can get a reservation on a live music night, do it! Reservations– well in advance are an absolute must! As I mentioned, its not huge, and tends to fill up quick, even when the quaint patio is open through the summer.(Live Spanish music, trendy lit up patio, warm summer evening… pure romance) The food… THEFOOD! Although expensive — is worth every penny. Its Tapas, so its meant to be shared. I’d say — try at least 2 different things per person to share, and you will get a really great variety of some seriously artistic foods. The presentation makes it taste even better. If you find you are still hungry, you can always order more. The selection is unique and interesting, which my be difficult for picky eaters. But I say, open your mind and you wont be disappointed. Great drink selection as well, and the right kind of servers who really care about explaining the food and drink to you. Don’t forget to try the Sangria! If you’re partner deserves a classy romantic date night, you can’t go wrong. Alternatively, its a great place to take friends or family who are visiting, or to share a pitcher of sangria with your girl friends. I would say, stick to a group of 4 or less.

Tapas Restaurant was great, although quite pricey! Most of the food was quite good, and the service was outstanding! I’m the type of person who is willing to pay for an awesome meal. Tapas is quite a pick out of the pocket, but the food was very decent! Let’s start with ambience. When I first walked in around 8pm, the restaurant was full of customers, very dim lighting with candles, and quite a small venue. However, it was very cute and homey. The restaurant was loud with customer chatter, and was a great atmosphere to have a date night. The downfall was that we were seated in the back corner and there must have been either a freezer or an outdoor exit behind me, because I was freezing every time that door opened. At one point, one of the employees opened the door and left it open for around 5 minutes, and I was so cold I actually had to wear my winter jacket for the rest of the evening! We started with smoked salmon wonton crisps. This was our favorite dish of the night! I normally don’t like smoked salmon, but these were little morsels of heaven. It came four little bundles to a plate, and they were gone within seconds! They don’t look like wontons at all — more like a pile of smoked salmon on a round chip(in case you were wondering). Next we had the duck confit tacos, the caracoles + bone marrow, and the lamb stew. The duck tacos were similar to the salmon wontons in appearance, but had a succulent soft taste. The caracoles and bone marrow was very interesting. It came with two pieces of bone stuffed with capers and escargot. It was quite a salty dish, and without the bread, it would have definitely been too salty to eat on its own. It was interesting for sure, but way too salty — especially with the added capers on top of it. The lamb stew was our least favorite. Although the portion size was a bit larger, it tasted like a regular stew that you could just throw into a crock pot and let simmer. At $ 21 for the little pot that was served(albeit very cute little pot), this dish was not worth the money. We had wine and cheese waiting for us back at our hotel, so we were okay with just those 4 dishes. However, I think we normally would have had to get another dish or maybe another dish and a dessert to get us full enough for the evening. Those 4 tapas costed us a little more than $ 80 with tip and no drinks. The service, however, was the biggest plus. The gentleman that serves the restaurant is absolutely awesome. He was so incredibly helpful, attentive, and kind. He explained everything on the menu, how tapas worked, and had great recommendations. He seemed to really care, and was such a sweet man. All in all, awesome experience, amazing service, and a very cute little restaurant(just don’t sit in the back corner near the washrooms)! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Canmore as a special occasion(since it is quite pricey)!

What an exquisite combination of flavours at Tapas. Each bite was the perfect combination of all the elements on each plate. The service was fantastic, giving great wine pairings and advice on different plates. Lastly, the space was very romantic with well thought out décor. Definitely a must try!

My wife and I went to Tapas for our anniversary. The food was amazing! The staff were great, they were very attentive. The smoked salmon dish was so good. The presentation was very nice. The dessert selection was a tough choice. We decided to have the cheesecake and the pecan tart. They were truly to die for. The pistachio crust for the cheesecake was delicious and the rosemary infused caramel sauce for the pecan tart was divine. I would highly recommend Tapas to anyone. Try out the dishes you won’t regret it.

A delicious and romantic meal on a day trip to canmore. I had never been for spanish style tapas largely because they typically don’t have a wide enough vegetarian selection to allow me to share with meat eaters without messing too much with the experience. The server told us Tapas is not an authentic experience like found in Spain but I thought it was pretty cool regardless. Tapas has a wide variety of vegetarian options(12 are vegetarian) along with plenty of other options so we had a nice selection that suited us both. Staff really knew their food and wine. The service reminded me of higher end places in the US(which generally has better service standards) There are only a few tables which keeps things feeling very intimate and we arrived a bit early for dinner so it was almost like a private dining experience as other people didn’t arrive until near the end of the meal. Over all we spent quite a bit on the dinner but it was very worth it and we ate very well in comparison to what that might buy other places for about the same amount. We ordered and my opinions: Beef Carpaccio — some of the best fiancé says he’s ever had. He said it tied with a very expensive french place but he can’t judge the two because of the vastly different spice profiles. Phyllo Parcels — Four phyllo pastries stuffed with caramelized onion + goat cheese served with a pepperonata. These were OK but not unique and were very similar to some appetizers found in greek restaurants with just feta. Tostadas choosing options: ~ Poached pear + blue cheese with tomato jam — these were some of my favs on the menu the sweet and sharp notes mingled wonderfully. ~ Manchego cheese with sundried tomato pesto — some of my favs on the menu the pesto was just amazing and very nicely paired to the cheese. Patatas Bravas — Fierce potatoes with tomato sofrito sauce + citrus aioli — a strange menu item which isn’t really tapas but more like hashbrown supreme with some pretty yummy seasoning. It’s the most filling of all our items as it’s a lot of starch pretty heavy but still good. Brie Stuffed Portobello Mushroom — Portobello mushroom baked with pears, brie, a pecan crust + tomato Provençal sauce — this had a very interesting taste profile but it was a good one. I was wondering if it would be kind of dessert like but it really stays quite savoury with a kind of sweet. Champignones al Ajillo — Crimini mushrooms sautéed with garlic, parsley + butter, finished with dry sherry — this wasn’t the best dish but it was interesting. It was quite meaty and the flavors were kind of like gravy. Serrano Wrapped Haddock — Pan seared haddock wrapped in serrano ham served on a bed of maple + balsamic bra Over all many of the dishes were very good. Some I wouldn’t get again and others were just amazing. I wouldn’t hesitate to return here again!
