Great neighbourhood pub — welcoming and unpretentious. The serving staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I had the wings and fries with a whiskey sour and my friend had the poutine with coke + vodka. Everything was tasty! Apparently they have live music starting 10pm on Thurs — Sat nights. I was there on a weeknight and things were rather low key, so I’d be interested to see what the weekend scene would be like. All in all I think it’s a good place for a reliable food and drinks if you’re local, but not something outstanding enough to go out of your way for.

Don’t let the outside of it discourage you, it actually is pretty great. At first glance it may not look like much, but the food is fantastic and the selection of beers is top-notch. On Mondays they have a fish and chips special that is great value for the money(even after they raised the price a bit). Service is decent. The patio is a great little area to sit on a nice day.

Beer tasted a bit off and 2 out of 5 from my group got instantly sick off the beer.

Decent beer selection(if a touch pricey) and good service last time I went. Food is also edible. Best deals are the nachos and the special. Chicken fingers are also good.

I was really excited to visit The Jester on Yonge, because it was somewhere that looked great and years ago I had passed it every morning on the way to work. That illusion died on St. Patrick’s Day. I walked into the bar right before last call and ordered a round of beers & shots for my four com-padres at the bar. After my tip, the bill came to $ 100+ dollars. Fine, it’s St. Patrick’s Day, I’m happy to do it for my friends. I sit down with our last drinks of the night, do a shot, and then head to the bathroom for literally 2 minutes. When I get back upstairs, my friend is getting kicked out because he had started to fall asleep. Listen, I get it, you can’t sleep at a bar, but it was a long day and we had not been there for five minutes after I had just spent over 100 dollars in this place. Immediately, our waitress kicks up a fuss. Now we weren’t loud and the 4 other people in the bar hadn’t complained. We were just five guys, celebrating the end of the night quietly in a booth. Nope, he was out on his ass and that also meant one of our buddies was going to have to be out too because the bar wasn’t liable for a guy outside falling asleep. Granted, he may have had a little too much, but he was quiet and wasn’t causing a scene. We quickly tried to down the rest of our beer, but that wasn’t happening. And after some protests to «why»? We all left the bar leaving two wounded soldiers on the battlefield(2 beers). Here’s the deal — I get that it’s policy, and I understand that drunken displays aren’t warranted, but we’re respectful guys who had a great St. Patrick’s Day and just wanted to end it with one last drink. And because we were treated like raging frat boys in a bar completely dead on St. Paddy’s, I will never be going back to spend money here again.

Went here for an unspectacular Sunday brunch. The selection was OK, but the food was boring. The omelette I ordered was rather dry and accompanied by flavourless home fries. Overall, a disappointing experience.

I came here for the brunch. It was a standard breakfast. Nothing amazing about it… but is nice to have close to home. There aren’t many options for breakfast in the area.

This place recently updated their menu and its great! Lots of pub food options and so far so good! Had the hummus and pita, moz sticks, poutine, chicken fingers, club sandwich, all very delicious! Great beer menu as well. I love the atmosphere and the staff have always been very friendly.

I come here quite often and have never yet been disappointed by the food. The service is good — casual yet friendly and attentive. Also, I don’t look white and have never had a problem(referencing the review by Bee K).

Though I remember the food was ok, my experience and the experience of some others who don’t look«white» has been appalling. These guys might do it for pure local business purposes, but they are very racist. The trick they use is to charge you for things you did not order a few times until you get the message. They say oh sorry … This can’t happen to the same person many times while others get a normal bill. Fucken Racists. If you are«white» you won’t know what I am talking about. Racism is tailor made. waiters are told to stare to the floor with a straight face if they think you look Middle Eastern though you can be anything but.

I come here fairly often for a beer, occasionally for some pub food. I adore their selection of beers. So many delicious ones on tap! And if it isn’t on tap, they will almost certainly have it in bottle. The bar is long wooden and aged, it invites you to chat up the bartender or fellow bar-goers. I always feel like it’s okay to laugh too loud, to order a third round on a Wednesday, to stay till they close. Although most of their bartenders are female — do not mess with them. They’re pretty, skinny and charming but they can hold their own. These ladies will do their utmost best not to humiliate you if you act out. They will instead make side long remarks to control the situation. If all else fails, you will be asked to leave(does not happen often). I am always impressed by their cordialness and professionalism. On the other hand, it seems that there are no in-house rules prohibiting bartenders from drinking while on shift. I have often caught the servers looking a bit dreamy or on the edge of slurring. The food is alright. Slightly better than average pub fare. Come here for a fun third date, with some jolly friends, or to make some new friends!

We went here last night for a nice relaxing dinner. I was delightfully pleased with their draft list, there were a couple of wheat beers on it(Erdinger, Mill St. Wit) and a cider(Blackthorn). The food was also pretty good, a cut above usual pub food in terms of taste. Hubby had a burger and fries, I had liver and onions with rice. Large portions. I think we’ll visit this place again, particularly when it’s warm enough to use their patio!

Not sure what«Dallas» was talking about. They gave us fries on the house. Anyway the food wad great for pub fair. My wings were saucy and the Trout was great. One minor issue… Unilocal has it listed in it’s Nightlife section. It should be in the bar or restaurant section.

A cozy local place: it’s going for a pub atmosphere with a touch of pool hall in the furnishings. Also, there’s a more upscale beer selection here than you’d expect. They’ve got interesting daily specials, although the set menu isn’t 100% reliable. The last time I was here, I ordered bangers and mash, only to be told they no longer served it. On the other hand, the vegetarian spaghetti alfredo I ended up ordering instead was delicious.
