this place is cool. i’ve never actually been to a mexican restaurant prior to this(not that i really think this can count either but i digress) so i was excited to try something new. i feel like it’s more of a tacky mexican restaurant as opposed to a real, authentic joint. i saw a woman get a gigantic sombrero because it was her birthday, which sums that point up, i feel. the food was alright. admittedly, i have had better tasting food(do i dare suggest that the stuff i’ve had at chipolte was perhaps better??). the service was alright; he was friendly enough but we felt like he wasn’t fond of my friend, lol. she got the dine-out options, and ordered a crêpe for dessert but was given the cake. i tried it and i didn’t really mind the cake all that much. only problems are a) it was really soggy, and while i get that that’s sort of the point, i think it was almost too much. and b) they used some sort of dairy that contains some sort of additive that i’m allergic too, so i broke out like mad after going there. my fault, i should have been more careful, but oh well. i ordered a plain old veggie quesadilla and i’ve truly made better at home. i like mine nice and cheesy, but this one had almost no cheese on it. the black beans that came with it were incredibly bland and i couldn’t even finish them. truthfully i probably would go back now that my expectations have been lowered substantially. i’d go for their margarita special(which i believe is on monday’s, if you’re curious).

I’m not sure why the reviews here are so bad. I went here on a Saturday evening for dinner and the wait was about 5 minutes, which was great. The dinner started off with complimentary chips and salsa — very tasty. I ordered the Cochinita Pibil(marinated pork in banana leaf) and it was so flavourful and filling. The portions were a good size and the service was prompt and friendly. I also really liked the rustic interior and the vibe of the restaurant. I would definitely come back again to try more from their menu, one of their margaritas and perhaps the Pollo Borracho which sounds delicious. All in all, great experience!

I kind of had high hopes for this restaurant despite the shabby reviews. Me and my gf went to La Margaritas for the $ 20 menu this year. The first thing we both noticed was the lack of service. The woman with the long blonde hair and blue eyes(I think she is the manager) was more than condescending and did not give us any time to decide on the menu. The food is mediocre at best and is obviously inauthentic. The dessert choices are disgusting. My gf got the cake made of 3 different types of milk and it was SOGGY. Like dripping soggy. I had the caramel crêpe and we both agreed that it tasted like melted plastic drowned in caramel sauce.

I used to look forward to going to Las Margaritas, but man, my last trip here will definitely be my last trip here. It started out great when a small basket of chips and some salsa was brought to the table. Both the chips and salsa are very good. I ordered the fajita burrito, but was served something else(chicken burrito, no veggies in it). The waitress thought she may have entered it wrong and seemed very put-out that I wanted to send it back for the item i ordered, which is pretty awkward. After she took it away a manager came by to ask what i want. Again, awkward since I really just wanted what I ordered. Anyway, it arrived as my wife was having her plate taken away. I picked at about half of it, but it really wasn’t very good at all and my heart wasn’t in it Service: weak. Food: bland. Price: High for the quality.

Las Margaritas is a bit of a trek for me, but I took my girlfriend there because she liked it in her youth. I also went there another time with family. I expected an above-average experience. Food: Below average. The portions are big, but the food itself, especially the tortillas, is a bit bland. On the second time around, the food arrived late and was barely warm at all. The food does the job, but it certainly isn’t as good as it was hyped up to be. On the plus side, the Margaritas are good… they ought to be! The right mix of sweet and sour. Service: Poor. The first time we went, just the two of us, it was OK. The servers seem to be hired more on their looks(ooh, a latino guy!) rather than talent. On our second trek, with the family, they did a very poor job. Our food was very late, and we had to wait a long time to get extra napkins, etc … Yes, I understand the restaurant is busy, but the experience put the entire family off of the place. Value: A bit pricey for rather average food. I could get the same stuff at a family-owned place for much cheaper. Ambiance: Lots of weird trinkets. They are trying to be more hip than authentically Mexican. Very loud, but very laid back. Kits is a nice neighborhood, too.

Las Margaritas was everything I wanted in a Mexican restaurant. Delicious bulldogs, gluten free options and stellar décor. Our server was great despite it being very busy. A memorable evening!

Took someone’s word to try this place for worthy Tex-mex flavors. I had some reservations after some seeing some folks’ ratings, but to be truthful I had a really nice brunch here on a Saturday with a few friends who happened to be from Texas. I enjoyed the free chips and authentic salsa, plus the delicious spread of vegetariano enchiladas. The horchata(sweet rice milk flavored with cinnamon) was also quite tasty and a nice non-alcoholic choice if you are not a lover of las tequilas. Cheers to finding a decent Mexican restaurant in Vancouver! I can’t wait to try las margaritas at Las Margaritas. ;-)

I only enjoyed Fajita. It’s about $ 20 I think. I like this place for Bulldogs. I am a new to this city and I have not found many places offering this delicious drink yet. They only have 2 flavors though. Extra charges for chips and sauce.

I’ve been there twice and really enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Really takes me back to Mexico. My only complaint was the last server I had did seem interested in our preference of taste, my friend being vegetarian. In the menu though we were able to find a solution — no suggestions or help on that from our server. No big deal, but I like to hear suggestions from those that have experienced the different foods first hand or based on what other customers liked.

Ordered the Quesadilla with beef for pick up they were cold when picked them up even though I turned up at time I was told to collect and also found the blonde girl working behind the bar to be very rude which tbh turned me off the place

Saw this reviewed on the front page of Unilocal on May 20th, therefore, booked marked it for future reference. I got the 3 beef Tacos for $ 13 which was a little on the high side but really good. Our waitress was really patient with our party and had an awesome Aussie accent. Meals were prepped and issued in a timely manner. My tacos were nicely spiced. Dessert was nice cream sandwiches which were amazing. Yum

Had an entertainment book coupon for this place so it was buy one entrée get one free. My Mexican food arsenal isn’t very extensive so no complaints but also nothing to really praise. Service was extremely though and although the server(owner?) was very nice, it took a long time to get our meal. Ordered: Pollo Chipotle — chicken with a chipotle cream sauce and served with black beans — this was a pretty big portion of chicken and I actually really like beans. Overall a healthier choice(IMO) but delicious flavours and Enchilada de Carnitas — essentially pulled pork in a tortilla and topped with green tomatillo sauce. Served with a huge portion of rice and refried beans.

An authentic Mexican meal in Canada. Who’d a thunk! This was a pleasant find. Enchiladas and a couple of Modelo beers. A perfect paring. The food was wonderful — very tasty and nicely prepared. The waitress was charming. A bustling cantina, just perfect for a laid back meal.

Ok. So in this review. I have a mix feeling. I am sure if that was another Unilocaled he may give only 3 stars review. And I don’t blame him. I think I give one stator two more then I should. How ever. Went there last night with my partner. They told us 15 min waiting. We say ok. It’s time like 10 min. Great. They seat us down. An older gentleman come by and ask what we would like to drink. We order. Then 4 min after he come and ask what we would like to start with. So we order something to start. From that point. It was no server. This older gentleman was service all this side of the restaurant. Serving. Drink. Payments and cleaning. He bust his ass. I am sure he is the owner that why. But hi boss. Hire another help or two. He didn’t take an order from us till we domain the start. I don’t blame him. He work so hard in so many tables. To the point that I told him. I say. Hi sir. You work way to hard. He smile say it’s good for him. Well. It was amazing to see him. He must to be the owner that why he care so much. How ever it’s make the service very slow when only one person do 15 tables. I just need it will be nicer if he get more help. Now for the food ! Perfect ! The food was just great. I loved it. Overall. The food is very good. The people was very nice. When I told my partner that they have only 3 stars on Unilocal. Before we walk in. He say how come? They have a good food. So to be honest. I think this place is a 4 stars place. It’s need a bit more prove on the service. That all

I absolutely loved this restaurant. The menu is a good size, prices are good, and portions are big enough to share! There are some healthy options on the menu, but expect there to be many deep fried foods. Everything sounded so incredible — but decided to split the chicken fajitas with a friend, and I’m so happy I did!!!

I absolutely love it at Las Margaritas! This is my go to restaurant for Mexican food. I’ve been coming here for the last 6 years, and I’ve been recommending it to everyone I know. From date nights, to family get togethers. this place is awesome! It’s cozy inside, and you have the option to be seated outside. It’s perfect for a summer day or night. Even better for a fall or winter evening to get some tequila in ya ;) warm yourself up with some yummy food. The food is toooooo delicious! This place is perfect for everyone, kids and elderly included! It’s a fun restaurant, with a nice warm family vibe. The food is unreal, the drinks are amazing, and the staff is super sweet. They accommodate large parties, making it fun for everyone. and for all of you celiac peeps, this place has a variety of GLUTENFREE options! I always get the chips and salsa to munch on, the salsa is tooooo good! they’re famous for them!

Love coming to this place — it’s just really fun for a meal and a few drinks with friends or family. The décor and ambience is excellent — they have done a great job with what must have been just a square business unit. There’s also a nice patio outside in summer. The food here is always good and the portions are huge. The menu can be overwhelming, and there’s a bit of overkill with the tortilla + rice + beans combos, but who can complain at too much choice? I usually get the pollo borracho(drunk chicken), which is delish and comes with TWO huge chicken breasts. Most dishes are priced around $ 13+ and are well worth it. And of course, the margaritas. The frozen ones come in a variety of flavours and sizes, including a huge Mexican bulldog option. They’re irresistible. The staff are always friendly here too, but not that kind of faux friendliness that drives me nuts at some places in Van. Just the right amount.

My friends wanted to come here for whatever reason and I didn’t want to be the person to veto it, so I came with low expectations considering my last experience. Even with low expectations, I was still disappointed. How is that possible? — The salsa was«meh». I don’t get why so many people rave about it but it really isn’t that great. It’s free and it’s a filler because your meal sure as hell isn’t going to fill you up if you aren’t snacking on something first. Better salsa can be had at home or in an authentic Mexican restaurant. — In authentic Mexican restaurants, you will have sauces/condiments/sides. This place hopes you don’t know that… which is fine… if you don’t know. — The rice was murdered. That rice had gone through severe dehydration and left to die in the desert. Poor thing. I was choking it down with large gulps of water. Too bad we never got much water. — Blandest beans ever. Even the cheese on top didn’t help. Just absolutely atrocious. It was a disgrace that it was even served. The service is really awful here. They either don’t have enough people working here, or the people working here honestly wish they weren’t working here. Our server refilled my water once in the entire meal. Their small glasses are like the ones bars serve for whiskey sour, so it wasn’t much water to begin with. She was also so unfriendly and looked seemingly bored the entire time. I can understand if you’ve had a tough service area but being nice/cordial/friendly to her didn’t change her attitude at all. As if the mediocre-at-best food wasn’t enough, we had the service we had. I still don’t understand why you’re so busy so often. Do people not know better? Have people never had authentic Mexican? Is the price that attractive? Is there some magical coupon that makes the food worth what they’re paying? What’s the deal because I sure don’t get it.

I’ve been here a few times when I’m in the W4th area hoping the food will be a bit better. but is almost always the same. Atmosphere: Super casual, cliché of a Mexican restaurant. It’s a pretty big place as well. Service: The service hasn’t been bad at all the few times I’ve been there. They can usually recommend something to eat and the food comes in a decent amount of time. Food: Meh. I’ve tried their tacos, enchilladas, and even a few random appies during the Van-Foodster W4th edition and still think the food is mediocre at best. Tip: DON’T order the guac. My boyfriend loves guacamole and I was extremely peeved when we received it and halfway into eating it, realized that HALF the bowl was filled with lettuce at the bottom as a filler. what?! The only thing I’d go back for are the margaritas. I can say their pretty tasty!
