Great food! Very fresh ingredients and authentic tasting. Enjoyed the taco and the tortilla soup!

I don’t know what kind of addiction I have these days but I crave burritos. A lot. How does one go from not having a burrito for a least 7 years to craving them every week? I first had taco shack a little while ago. It was my first burrito in over 2555 days. OMG this little puppy was a freshness sac of goodies, and ooozy goodness. Back then the shack was in it’s own location. Now it’s merged with Vera’s burger shack. I’m not sure if they were always related or not, but it took me a double take and I had to ask the cashier if this where I could get those tasty burritos from two doors down. Nitty Gritty: a) cashier– very friendly and efficient b) burrito specialist– very cute Japanese girl, also very friendly when she handed me the very heavy take away bag c) burrito– fresh, fresh, fresh beans, rice, guac, cilantro, corn and MEAT. Lots of meat. I brought this bad boy home and we shared him and I was full til dinner. I’m coming back. Very soon, you should too. g

Meh… Gone down hill again. Tasteless and stone cold burrito. Pretty gross ball of rice, beans and steak. No flavour at all. Really a complete failure.

As a proud American who grew up on eating cheap Hispanic foods I found The Taco Shack to be grotesquely dissapointing, I would rather go eat at a fastfood mexican joint because at least I know their food will be fresh and that everything is consistent. Taco shells and tortillas were stale and extremely oversalted. From the presentation to the service you can tell that they have no love for food. Quesadillas aren’t filled and burritos are all rice and beans, how can you call that real Mexican cooking? Get some meat in there jeez!

Better value than other Vancouver options, locally owned, and very fresh ingredients(oh, and tasty!). There is a place in Portland that is dirt cheap and blows away anything I’ve seen here and this is nothing like that(a different style even), but so far, this is my favourite here. Like all«fast» food in Vancouver the prices are higher than similar options in other West Coast cities, but recently I’ve just felt ripped off at other taco places that serve comically small portions at no better quality or authenticity(yet are for some reason really popular, one on Cambie comes to mind…). Vancouver does not lack anymore in ok tacos, but it does the good ones that have some food in them. Service is nothing special, but I also like this little strip of food places as a destination. Regardless of whole experience, I tend to give 4 stars(or higher) to the place in a a given category that is the best of its kind in Vancouver, currently Taco shack is that.
