We decided to try The Bayside during Dine Out. We had to wait for a very long time to place a drink order, and after that we waited about 20 minutes before we were able to get the attention of our server so we could order our food. We were surprised at the unprofessional appearance of the servers, jeans and tank tops. The food was very good. Our appetizer salad with chicken and cashews was delicious. However, when the server picked up our plates she let us know that we should hang on to our cutlery for the next course. If you are offering a 3 course meal, is cutlery for 3 courses really too much to ask? Having to pick up your dirty knife and fork to eat your nice entrée seems wrong. While the food was good and the view is nice, I don’t plan to rush back.

Rolled into here at 2AM one Saturday nite since this is one of the very few lounges open into 3AM. Music is kinda loud. Atmosphere is kinda dark, so I can’t see what the décor is like. The place was busy. Busier than what I was expecting. Aside from Fantacity, this is another place that is open past 2AM in the morning if you need a drink, such as myself binging into the late hours, and didn’t want to sing. Prices are reasonable. Space is kinda tight. Mixed crowd. 70’s disco music was playing that night. Street parking is in abundance everywhere, especially at 2AM Likely another repeat performance from me in the near future.

The bayside lounge is a beautiful location, the drink Selection is vast and the food is relatively cheap. Also who could say no to a view like this! The seats are comfy and it’s relatively quiet. However I have one major complaint about this place– and that is — the wait staff was terrible. Our waitress paid no attention to us. When we asked her any question she was passive aggressive and very unfriendly to us. I was so dissapointed because everything is so lovely about this place except for this one glaring problem. Too bad so sad. :-(

I don’t know how I keep coming here and yet haven’t taken the time to fill out a review. I’m a little biased on this review because I’ve been in great company on my few visits and in high spirits. My friend lives about 2 minutes away and we usually make the Bayside a last stop before retiring for the evening. Service staff is friendly and the selection of drinks is good. I could sense the hesitation to serve us the 5 tequila shots we ordered last weekend, which looking back was probably the responsible thing to do, but I appreciate the professionalism they showed throughout our visit. The deep fried pickles are great, and their view of English Bay while eating is a very tough one to beat. I’ll be back.

A fantastic bar. Not fantastic because it’s actually fantastic, but because of the combinations of things many of which aren’t fantastic at all. Let me explain. It sort of feels like the foreword bar on an old Star Trek ship, filled with tired space engineers and general starship support staff, worn out, waiting for their trek to be over. Mix in some LA bar filled with broken dreams, lonely men staring into their drinks, the occasional escort pickup by an out of town businessman, a few cougars clucking into their wine. Everything feels used, and sometimes that’s more comforting than you realize. The view is amazing, and it’s surprisingly out of the way while somehow being right in the centre. It leads one to picture that everyone there is up to something, that The Bayside Lounge is this place where these dark lives overlap with the regular rest. Eavesdropping on the next table will reveal crumbs of the underworld, an arms trade or spies exchanging data — these things happen every day — and I’m convinced that they happen at The Bayside Lounge. Highly recommended.

I like the Bayside, friends and I come here for drinks pretty often. Their prices are reasonable and it’s open late. It does get pretty loud late at night, and I don’t like how close together the tables are — not a fan of hearing other people’s conversations or sitting hip to hip with strangers. I’d recommend coming earlier in the evening, or if you don’t mind noise/crowds. The food is pretty good, standard lounge/pub fare.

I’ve been here many, many times over the past 20 years. I used to like this place a lot as it was a lounge. It was a place people could come to with a great view, chat AND you could actually hear what your party was saying. Now it’s loud and you’re basically screaming at each other. Since the tables are close together to can overheat other people’s convos and they all say the same thing. It’s just too loud. If I come back I will only come back late afternoon /early evening at the music is just annoying loud. It’s a good place for one drink then move on. Food is mediocre at best.

My boyfriend and I recently went to Bayside Lounge to celebrate my birthday. I had been there before and had been telling him for quite some time that it was an awesome low-key spot for drinks. We really liked our waitress — she was super friendly and offered great service. We wanted to step outside for a smoke, so she asked my boyfriend to leave his ID with her as collateral. He agreed, but unfortunately at the end of the night we forgot to ask for it back, and she forgot as well. The next day he called Bayside, asking to check that they still had it. The woman on the line put down the phone and shouted to her staff, asking if anyone had left ID there the night before. She came back on the line and said they had his visa card(which didn’t make ANY sense because he never left his visa)! My boyfriend told her again that he left his ID there, not his visa. She claimed it wasn’t there, and asked who his waitress was. He said he didn’t know her name, but insisted he never got it back from her. The lady then made the snarky comment«it sounds like you don’t even know if you were here last night, let alone if you left your ID here». To his frustration, he kept his cool, thanked her for checking, and got off the phone. We decided to go there in person with the hopes of speaking to the waitress we had that night, or someone else who worked there(and cared a little more about their customers than the lady on the phone). Our waitress wasn’t working, so we politely asked the bartender to check around. He brought out a cup filled with IDs and credit cards and searched through with no luck. At this time, the same lady from the phone call came storming up to us and asked what the problem was. We explained, and she cut us off with the reply«You called earlier, right? I told you we don’t have your ID, only your visa!» My boyfriend explained that he never left his visa, only his ID. She rudely replied«Can’t help you! It’s not here.» — acting as if it’s NOT their problem, even though THEY supposedly lost his ID when THEY asked for it as collateral?!! Luckily, the nice bartender swooped in to save the day, as he searched a little harder and found his ID in another spot near the card cup. We are so utterly appalled by the service we received from that lady. She was extremely rude and treated us like we were a pain in her behind. The rest of our experience with Bayside overall was pretty good, but it is because of her that I’m giving this review 1 star. The very least she could have done was be courteous.

Definitely a hidden gem on denman street! They have the best view of english bay especially to admire the sunset at the end of a long day. With decent drink prices and low priced food this is my boyfriends and my favorite place to grab a drink and a few appy’s. I definitely recommend the mezza plate with awesome spinach and artichoke dip!

This place has been around for a long time. Probably could use another renovation. It feels old. Food isn’t the greatest. Drinks are ok. Usually just have beer. There is a view of English Bay from the pub.

2.49 out of 5.0… We dropped in for a quick drink and sat down amongst the awkward layout, quickly pestered for priced subpar menu food. Everyone is welcome and the vibe is chill which is a definite plus, but I could not help feeling a strange sense of unease, probably because of the atmosphere — a retrograde from the 1980’s. It’s time for reno. or a makeover because the location is prime! A couple flat screens tossed in hardly qualifies for an upgrade these days, especially in the economically-unequal-culturally-fragmented-Vancouver. And the menu was sticky and gross. Suggestions — keep the lounge style and do a renovation. Bring in some good music. Change the name.

Went for Dine Out and even for $ 18 was severely disappointed. My appy was great! Warm Brie with roasted garlic, I was hopeful. I ordered the steak medallions and even with my all my strength an force struggled to cut through my steak. My dessert tasted like mouthwash. Other than that the service was pretty bad. She served us to take our drink and dinner order at the beginning but then had to be flagged down to order more. She never once asked how our food tasted. They brought our courses out without the previous ones being cleared, I had to stack everything. I’d go back solely for drinks but wouldn’t eat there again! It has a cool and cosy ambience that drinks would suit but not good for meals, even with the dine out pricing.

Perfect for a casual conversation — long-overdue, Without pretension, a uniquely comfortable space too. Appetisers are average — frilly drinks have a similar way, Nirvana for a dry vodka martini and a view of the bay. Although weekend nights are often a hullabaloo.

I used to come here around 07 and 08 and even organized a workshop at the Best Western in part to use the lounge for meals. Came back to check it out and what a downer. Old, boring, 3 beers on tap and staff who make it clear they don’t want you there. They add GST and liquor tax to your orders, so a measly 16 oz glass of draft is nearly $ 7 before you pay the obligatory tip. Considering the new happy hour and other specials in town it’s absurd. The only good thing remains the view. Time for new ownership/management and a re-boot of the Bayside Lounge. Check out the new Park at English Bay downstairs on Davie instead.

I visited this place recently as a friend was having a going away party. I had never been here before really liked it. The layout is cool and the vibe was really friendly. As i sat and waited for my friend to arrive i notice the DJ setting up in the corner. I grabbed a drink from the bar(which by the way is like 5 feet below us all). The bartenders are always looking up at you as if they’re in the first row of a movie theatre. Is there a Chiropractor nearby cause I gotta feeling these gals need an adjustment. So the place is cool, the food is pretty good and the music rocked. Such a great DJ. He played everything I wanted to hear and few tracks I had never heard of. This is a great place to chill with friends. Totally recommend it and will most likely be back.

I’ve been coming here for years now. Very chill place with friendly servers and some cheap drink specials. Awesome view as well on the corner of Davie and Denman overlooking English Bay. I’ve never been here on a weekend but it’s supposed to get crazy busy. I’m usually here on a weeknite and it’s never really that crowded and the big thing is it’s open til 2am. The menu is pretty standard pub fare and they also have live dj’s as well… check it out!

Considering the number of bars that I can choose from on Davie, my default is always Bayside Lounge. The throwback décor and low ambiance reminds me of time gone by and I can sit there and just daydream of when Bayside was in its hey day. If you love Caesars, you’ll love Bayside, they have a whole list dedicated to it. Service is usually great, if you’re lucky you get the veteran servers who knows exactly when to offer you another drink. I would not suggest eating there unless its just munchy food like fries or chip and dip. Probably the best lounge to go and catch the sunset off the beach, good drinks, good prices, mostly good service.

somehow this place has escaped every renovation from 1970 on, in a good way. This place is almost a time warp, with an awesome location, awesome views and awesome service. I think I am going to say it… I LOVE this place! :)
