We called for take out and were told that it would take half an hour because they were busy. Not a problem except that we were went to pick up the food, the place was a ghost town. And unfortunately the food wasn’t good. Noodles were greasy, sweet and sour pork was dry and tough, lemon chicken was bland. Below meh. Had wanted to visit this place for a long time. Kinda disappointed.

Very average Canadian Chinese food. The delivery took 45 mins. Everything arrived hot. Spicy Garlic long beans: 3.5÷5 tasted decent. Nothing spectacular. Expected more spice Chilli chicken Szechuan style: 3.5÷5 pretty average. I’ve had better in Asia of course but one of the better ones I’ve had in Canada Spicy wontons: 4⁄5 a little too sweet for me personally and I wouldn’t order them again but they were pretty good

If I ever leave Vancouver, this is the one restaurant I am going to miss. It is the best Chinese Szechuan restaurant in the city. Friendly staff, the best chef who never seems to take a day off, and of course the most delicious foods. They are definetely one of my go-to-restaurant in downtown.

I’ve been going here for 10, 15 years? It’s the same cook! That alone is an anomaly. :) And can he cook! There’s no bombs on this menu. My regular favorite when I dine alone is beef or chicken crispy chow mein noodles with black bean sauce. It’s hard to describe, it satisfies on a very deep level. Other winners are their long beans, the ginger beef, the eggplant with tofu. Oh, I’m getting hungry just writing. Service is totally fine and considering it’s the one guy doing all the cooking, service is quite speedy. He must have arms of steel handling that giant wok all day. :) Highly recommended.

Reliable tasty Szechwan food at a great price. This is my go to for Chinese food in the area and it is very consistent and always tastes good. The restaurant itself isn’t much to look at but they provide great dishes and they keep their prices very reasonably. The staff are always friendly and they do free delivery with a minimum order of $ 20 which is great! Our favourite dishes are the bbq pork fried rice and the lemon chicken, both are delicious! I would highly recommend them! They always give you fortune cookies after your meal or with your delivery order too which is a nice touch!

Great food at a reasonable price… as simple as that. Convenient location or quick delivery. I usually call on my way home from work, pick it up and take it home. The décor could use an update but I think that’s part of its charm. I love the fried noodles with seasonable vegetables and the classic bbq pork fried rice.

Mi madre and I came here exactly a year ago. So why am I writing a review about it now then? Ah, patience young grasshopper, for I am about to embark on a long rambling tale that is not about the food here, but about the experience this place bestows upon people. We were actually at Dinestry, a dope dumpling place when we started talking to the people next to us. They mentioned a great Chinese Place near the Chinese statues and i immediately thought of won more. Only i didn’t know the name so I mentioned«well there’s this Chinese place near the statues where you have to go up the stairs…». They threw up their hands: «yeah! That one!» Who da thunk this tiny shop on the second lvl would get praise from the locals? On a side note, my mom chatted up the owner last time we were there and he was totally cool. Food was fresh and meat was cooked pretty well, not over salted. We had the seafood hotpot which was delish. All in all, if you’re near the Chinese statues and need a quick fix but can’t stand take out, check this place out.

I love Legendary Noodles in the west end. It’s a great place and I’ve never felt the need to try Won More. It looks pretty simple from the outside and I never would have tried it if a friend had not recommended it. I was blown away at how flavourful and clean tasting the dishes were. I’m hooked on the shrimp fried rice.

Inexpensive, great quality Szechuan food. The Wun Tun Soup is incredibly good with an exquisite silky broth(although I would lose the broccoli that they recently started to add to it). Though I’ve never eaten in, I’ve been ordering from here for over 15 years and don’t recall ever being disappointed. The Mu Shu beef is a must try too. Every dish I’ve had is exactly what it’s supposed to be.

This place is my go to at the moment. They have some of the more flavourful Szechuan we’ve had. Super quick delivery if you’re having a lazy day. The special Szechuan fried rice is really delicious and spicy !!! The sweet and sour boneless pork is also good, but ask for no peppers if you’re not into red and green pepper, as it comes with quite a bit. I’ve had their house special chow mein on crispy noodle also, definitely an item you want to have at the restaurant. Spring rolls were a bit odd and oversized so the filling was soggy. So don’t order those. But everything else we’ve had was really great!

Been going here for quite some time and am never disppointed. The décor is simple and sparse and the food here is quality and doesn’t leave me with that gross post-MSG hangover. The ingredients are fresh and the dishes are well prepared. Usually try a combination of the following: the mushu shrimp, chicken chow mein(noodles), hot and sour soup, a corn based soup whose name eludes me, dry ginger beef, lemon chicken, chicken in black bean sauce and a veggie dish. Recommend this place if ur looking for simple and delicious chinese food!

Yummy! On a whim I dropped in for dinner last night. 3 of the 4 dishes I ordered were outstanding. Considering the lack luster décor, the food was exciting and well prepared. Beef with dry tangerine peal was moist and incredibly flavourful with just a hint of heat. The chicken with peppers and black bean sauce was really delicious with nice chunks of chicken. The special fried rice contained nice, large pieces of pork and shrimp that was perfectly cooked and a touch a chili. The whole meal was a total yum-fest. I didn’t think the wonton soup was as good as the other dishes, so I probably won’t order that again, but with such a delicious selection of mains, starting the meal with soup just isn’t necessary. And, yes, they do deliver!

won some? A few weeks ago I wanted quick Chinese take out. Sorry, that’s not true — my regular readers know I’m not a big fan of Chinese food — my mother wanted Chinese take out. I looked for a restaurant in the area and found Won More. The name is cringe-worthy, but Sherman of Sherman’s Food Adventures likes it. So I went and picked up the shrimp foo young and fried rice. We liked it. A week later, my sister wanted Chinese delivery. I suggested Won More and she liked it too. It’s good. It’s not as greasy(I say as, because by nature Chinese food is greasy. Sidebar: every wonder why you crave pop when you have dim sum, Chinese, pizza, it’s your body screaming for some carbonation to cut through the grease). Fat aside, Won More is exactly what I want in Chinese — cheap, good, plentiful.

Short version: I am a huge fan of their take out. Be smart and order dishes that travel well [ginger beef, crispy noodles, fried tofu with oyster sauce, fried rice, etc] Won More had an incredible ambiance, as well as cutting-edge restaurant design, when it opened in the 1980’s. The Szechuan cuisine was fairly new to Vancouver, and they did gang-busters business. Fast-forward to 2012 [almost 2013]. I hadn’t eaten at Won More for a decade, but upon moving to an apartment in Yaletown in 2010, ordered delivery. I was happy to find out that it was still as good as ever. Everything is tasty, and you feel like you’re eating food made with top quality ingredients [which you can’t say about all Chinese downtown]. Portions are not huge, but not small either — I would say fair. It is the same group [family] that has owned from the start, and most nights your food is prepared in the open wok, by the same chef that was there at the start. If you’re looking for reliable and tasty Szechuan take out or delivery in Vancouver, Won More is IT. The ONLY down side is that the interior is dated [unchanged since the 80s!] and definitely worn. Frankly I haven’t eaten at the actual restaurant for years, so for me, this is not an issue. But I wouldn’t hesitate to dine in if I was visiting English Bay and wanted a cold beer and a great meal This is one of those places that I hope never changes, and sticks around for many more years. I love Won More

The food is delicious, you get to watch them cook your food and it only takes about a minute… what more could you want? I would definitely recommend the beef and veggies on fried noodles… *drool* Only 4 stars because the«ambience» or lack thereof leaves a lot to be desired, but the food more than makes up for it. Did I mention the food is awesome?

OK, so some may think 4 stars is a bit much. Perhaps. But I guess I’m thinking of my level of satisfaction rather than food quality here. When I crave szechuan and don’t want to venture out to Richmond, I call up Won More, get my dry ginger beef(which admittedly is skimping on the beef a little lately) and some gai-lan in garlic and plant my arse down for feasting. Is it the best? No. But i’m always satiated and don’t feel ill from an overload of MSG and/or oil like so many others. I’ve only actually eaten on site once so can’t really make any comments about cleanliness… but that chef has been there for ages and I always see that sexy shower cap on so i know i won’t be pulling hairs out of my mouth. And for me. That’s good enough.

Based on Amanda’s opinion that the Hot & Sour was the best ever, I decided to give this place a try. IMHO, the soup was okay, but I can’t say it was anywhere near the best H&S soup I’ve ever had. It was actually a bit mild tasting for Hot & Sour soup. A bit light on both the vinegar and the chili’s for me. The broth itself was also very mild in flavour. Usually, H&S soup has more tofu and bits of mysterious plant life. This one was heavily dominated by long thin strands of carrot and no mystery ingredients at all. I also had the Peanut Chili Shrimp. It was quite good. Instead of a peanut sauce, I was surprised to find that they literally give you a dish that includes about 2.5 cups of peanuts. Surprisingly tasty.
