Over priced. $ 17 for a natural burger and side of fries. Cheese should be a free add on in my opinion. Expensive because half the toppings cost to add on, without a very basic Burgar. Did not enjoy my meal ate it because I didn’t want to waste good money down the drain. Won’t be back.

Patty was perfectly cooked but didn’t care for the bun so ate it paleo style. Beer battered Onion rings were solid! If in town again and craving for a burger, I’ll come back here!

I wanted to like this place since both of the workers here were really nice and kind plus it always smelled so good whenever I would pass by it. Maybe I ordered the wrong burger but I had a hard time eating it. I ordered the spicy chicken and for my taste, I thought it had too much sauce on it and the chicken strips or whatever they were were falling so it wasn’t easy to eat it. One of the chicken strips fell when i was eating the burger so i got left with ¼ of the bun with no meat. The burger was too spicy because of the sauce and all i could taste was the sauce.

Very good burgers and not too greasy at all. We orderes Stinger and Vera burger. Both were very good but we liked Stinger more. The only down side is the interior as the name suggests it is a shack so we ordered and left to eat them at the beach.

I’m visiting Vancouver for a few days from the U.S., and one of the«must do» experiences in the AAA guide I brought with me is a stop at Vera’s Burger Shack. Tonight I was driving thru town doing some exploring of the area and low and behold saw the sign for Vera’s. I was able to find a parking spot on a nearby street and walked over. Not realizing the time, I walked in and placed my order with a friendly gentleman that shares my first name(Adam), and also happened to be the owner. He made me aware that they had run out of a few ingredients but would be more than happy to accommodate any substitutions. We chatted while Adam was preparing everything, as I was the only customer in there at the time, and then it came out that they were 10 minutes away from closing. I felt so bad, and apologized for being a «last minute customer», but this owner continued to be friendly and we continued chatting until the order was ready, and I quickly ran out so he could lock the door behind me :) Highly recommend this place on the service and attitude of the owner alone. The food was just ok, partially my fault for taking it to go and eating it back in my hotel room, by which time it had already gotten cold. Def stop by and say hello to Adam– he clearly values his customers and treats them like friends. Best of luck!

Every city has a greasy burger joint that’s just really good — and this is Vancouver’s. And don’t get me wrong, it’s really good. But some issues during my visit made me knock this down from a 5-star place to a 4-star. This particular location is on the West End, near the beach, and right along a strip of shops. Went in on a Sunday night, grabbed a turkey burger and some fries… the burger was well-cooked, the fries not quite as crispy as I would have liked, but still pretty darn good. The price was reasonable, and the quality was great. On this particular visit, though, some issues became glaringly obvious. For starters, the place is cramped. VERY cramped. That’s fine if you have a bunch of couples or such, but when you have a group of eight folks stop by(as was the case this evening), the end result is people forced to stand to eat. And that’s never good. The second was the lack of staffing on a Sunday night, during the summer, on a beautiful day, near a popular beach area. With only two people behind the counter, it took a ridiculously long time for orders to come through — and the line only grew as the evening went on. Granted, I think a third person finally came in — and I realize such things are inevitable — but there were some folks who were clearly agitated. Lastly was a fly issue — they were buzzing all around all night long — I almost want to chalk that up to having the giant doors open for the weather, but there weren’t many flies buzzing around outside, so… yeah. I really want to give this place a second chance — thinking this was totally an off night, and maybe things just didn’t go as well as they should have.

As I am from Washington State this burger joint was advised place to hit up when in the Vancouver BC area. I must admit I am glad I took the advise, big portions and bigger flavours! I would recommend this place to any person looking for a great burger and tasty fries.

Finally got to try a Vera’s burger after all these years of hearing about how good they were. I can say I wasn’t disappointed with what I had. Although I have to take a star off because I originally wanted the paws burger with the egg on top, however they had run out of eggs that day. Instead I ordered a bacon cheeseburger(can’t remember the name now). It was really good still. What stood out for me was the beef patty. It was seasoned just enough so that it still tasted like beef. Also the patty was tender and had a good texture that broke away nicely with each bite. I guess I’m trying to say it wasn’t a flat overcooked puck of meat which you get at so many other places. I also ordered the onion rings with my meal. They were alright but nothing special. If you’re craving a burger you can’t go wrong with Vera’s, I would definitely go back again. Their prices are a little high in my opinion for a burger, $ 9 – 10 for a burger plus another $ 4 if you want to make it a meal. But for the quality the value is not that bad and on par with what you get at other places like Five Guys.

last year it was the indiferent service; today it was that there was too much missing; mushrooms ice a second staff member(cook doubled as cashier, didn’t wash hands) I hate to deduct stars off from a delicious burger!

Third strike against these guys tonight. Didn’t give me the onion rings on my take-out order. Went back, turned out they had none in stock. Realized when I got home that they also forgot the juice for the kid’s meal I got. And they forgot the cheese on my burger. Last time, it was a leather-like hotdog. And the time before that, they let someone else walk out with my order. Why did I keep trying? They used to have consistently awesome food and service. Not sure if they have new owners or something, but I’d advise you don’t bother with the Denman Street location. Go to White Spot on Georgia and you’ll likely pay the same or less for a meal.

As I couldn’t link to wifi properly in this area of Vancouver, I couldn’t Unilocal before coming to Vera’s Burger Shack to see what Unilocal peeps thought of the restaurant. I was a little surprised by all the recent 1, 2, or 3 star reviews I read after I was able to Unilocal it when back in the US. Maybe I’m not as picky with my burgers, maybe the stars were aligned for a stellar experience, I don’t know. I had a great experience here. This is a pretty small burger joint with counter service and self-seating. I already liked that as I hate ordering a burger and drink with a server and paying tip for a food that costs next to nothing to make. That brings up a good note to make while on topic. Prices here are a bit high for a burger. Not sure that’s a Canada thing, or just a Vera’s thing. I ordered the four cheese burger which included feta, blue, cheddar, and provolone. Perhaps that hightened my experience as these four cheeses blended really well and made the burger very flavorful. I also had«the usuals» on there. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries. I didn’t have an excessive wait time. Maybe 10 or 15 minutes. I thought the staff was really friendly(though I come from Los Angeles so most other people on the earth are friendly in comparison.) Place was clean,(my 3 year old even approved of the bathroom.) We didn’t dine in as it was an amazing day and went to the beach at English Bay and enjoyed our burgers. The burger tasted great. I ate that a little too quickly, maybe! The fries were sort of soggy and not as flavorful as I had hoped so knock of another half star there. One thing to keep in mind with burger places where you can build your own burger, make sure you get toppings that blend well together. I think some people make the mistake of ordering a weird combination and then blame the restaurant for having awful food.

One of the better ones more so during the summer, nothing better than doing takeout here & walking over to English bay for the action. Cool that they’ve got an entire open ‘window’ when they lift the garage-like in the summer but it can get noisy. With Vera’s you can expect consistency, almost always order the G-money burger with the Vera sauce, which is a must: their special house mayo/garlic good stuff! expect for going to the washroom, it’s kinda tight in here, even the hallway walking there, & you’ll need a key. Service can lag here too.

Fatburger, here I come. This location is closed indefinitely. I’ve always preferred Fatburger over Vera’s anyway but I was looking to see what some people have been saying about Vera’s. In the past, Ive not had a very pleasant experience at Vera’s. Maybe that’s why they’re closed? Any way, I love Fatburger. This just made my choice even easier.

After a day of driving, walking, taking public transport, and sightseeing all over Vancouver, we decided to have dinner close to out hotel. We can see Vera’s from our room, saw generally good reviews and decided to give it a try. The staff was super friendly, checked on us part way through our meal, and talked to us about finding out about border crossing waits. We ordered a kids hot dog meal. It was possibly the best hot dog ever(shy of Chicago, of course.) We also ordered a kids sliders with chili added, the Thursday special combo with sweet potato fries, and a Vera burger combo with poutine. The sweet potato fries came with a garlic mayo. The serving sizes were reasonable and the cost was reasonable. The side of fries for the Thursday special was large enough for a family of 4 to share. The chicken provolone BBQ sandwich was really good. They toast the bun, yum! The burger was better than any in Seattle we’ve had. However, it did not quite exceed that of the Save-On Meats burger. Also the poutine had melted cheese curds, indicating that the curds were not fresh. The poutine at La Belle Patate was better. We chose a table sitting under the heater, which gave some awesome warmth after a cold day out in the rain.

I’m seeing commercials for burger places. Pick your own toppings kind of burger places. There’s only one of these in the Portland area and it seems there are loads near the hotel, so when the GF announces that she will be spending one of our vacation mornings sleeping until she can not possible sleep any more, I determine that day I will have a burger for breakfast. Hell yeah. Vera, why are your hours of operation not on your bleeping website?!? Are you kidding me? Grrr. Anyway, the burger was good. I missed about half the options because the board lay out was kinda weird but I probably would have had a basic burger anyway. The fries were way lame, undercooked and bland.

So one time walk in and order two burgers for takeout. After waiting a half hour for our burgers, we walked to the beach to eat them. My wife’s was okay, but mine was quite charred on the outside, and completely raw inside. I like a good rare steak, and I’m even okay with a slightly pink burger, but this was way too few to be served. I told my wife to stay there and I walked to get a replacement. I was calm and polite — these things happen, I understand — but I was quite surprised that my replacement took more than a half hour to come out. I know it’s a busy joint, but wouldn’t you want to fix the problem by putting it at the front of the list? Anyways, I finally got my burger and walked back to my wife. I opened my burger, and it was RAW again! I went back and complained, and the manager said their stove must be faulty. Strange that all the other burgers came out fine??? He offered another burger, but I said no thanks. I asked for a refund, but instead he said I could get a voucher for a free burger another time! Shocked, I said no, and walked out the door, with no burger, and no refund! I was happy to see a handful of other patrons that were about to order, follow me out the door.

This place has good burgers and ambiance, but their prices are a bit expensive for what you get. They had fresh brews on top though, so extra points awarded there! If you’re walking through Stanley Park and in the mood for a burger, you probably can’t go wrong with a burger from Vera’s. Space is tight though, so you may be standing while you wait!
