It’s nice having a café so close to my house. But they really need a better way to hear heir sandwiches and wraps. I shouldn’t have to wait 20 min for something to go. I could take it cold and heat it myself I suppose but still… The pastries are quite good. The service is soso. The owner is very nice. The staff is at times sloppy or forget to check and see if there are customers. I once had to wait 15 min just to order food. Soups also run out quite early. Otherwise decent place!

Nice little place that’s tucked away on the corner of a community. The atmosphere was very casual and homey with plenty of table space(good for study sessions!). I got an Americano and Black Forrest Cookie. I enjoyed the Americano(you can add as much or as little water), but the cookie was ok as it was more caky than chewy. It’s a quieter place so its great to do some work or visit with friends. If you are in the neighbourhood and in need of coffee + space, check it out!

Love this place! I come here at least once a week for lunch. The food is awesome. The chai is the best I’ve had in town. I always have great service here. Though some employees are a little slow with orders it all gets done right and with a smile. Dan, the owner is such a sweetheart. If anything I keep coming back just to support Dan and his business. They feature local artists too which I love. Why let perfectly good wall space go to waste? Thanks Dan and your wicked staff(see what I did there?) I’ll see you next week!

I guess its location is a bit hidden. The place is busy somewhat. What I enjoyed most was their Red Pepper Soup. The sad part is that its small for the price. Sandwiches are made on the day and sometimes if they don;t have it on display they will make it right away, So everything is fresh. I noticed people tend to sit for a long time there. So because the place is small and if you are in a rush, you might as well get it to go.

Really cute little café, I had a delicious cookie and amerciano. I enjoy that they allow you to add as much water to your americano as you like yourself. None of the staff were even neutral seeming, they were miserable, but the coffee is good and the baked goods were amazing!

My girlfriend and I were visiting from Los Angeles and was just feeling a tad homesick when we found this gem. I don’t know why there aren’t more reviews for this place! It’s tucked in, parallel a busy street and in the most perfect location. The baristas are very friendly, the ambiance is great, and most importantly. The coffee is amazing! Intelligentsia for the win! Plus, the baristas are perfectionists! We thought our drink came out great, but I guess he felt it wasn’t camera ready(I had taken out my camera to capture the latte art) and therefore gave us another! Now that’s service! If you haven’t stopped by Wicked Café, this is your sign to go today. GO!

love this place — it’s my neighbourhood haunt and(sh!) i think it’s the best coffee in the city. i always have a latte and they make fun patterns on it for me! not a huge space, maybe holds 20 people but it’s always packed. about 6 seats outside, again, even in cooler winter there is usually someone sitting outside with their dogs. i’ve had the muffins and really enjoyed them and the other food in the display case looks appetizing but i haven’t indulged yet. just drove and it’s open on July 1st — and full! love this place! i believe they have wifi and i’ve met some interested people in there. try to schedule local meetings when i can as it’s comfortable and they don’t deter lounging and working.

Lovely little café. Americano’s are served as the espresso in the cup with a side jug of boiling water which is a nice touch. You can top your Americano up and stop it from getting too cold too quickly!

This is a great Fairview/Granville Island coffee shop. They serve the best coffee. It’s Intelligentsia/Black Cat coffee that they use and you should try it if you haven’t. The staff are quick and courteous. The food is pretty good with a bit more variety than your usual coffeeshop with grilled sandwiches, eggs and soup. Local artwork is displayed and free public wifi is also freely available. Things were a bit inconsistent when new ownership took over about two years ago but things are going pretty well now. Compared to the Starbucks down the block the coffee is much better, the service is better and the prices are slightly better.

Warning — they open at 07:30 on Sundays, not at 07:00 as it says in Unilocal. Walked in, was told they were closed, walked out. But it’s a sauna in there! Really, it’s very hot. Unbearably so.

Best coffee in Vancouver(subjective opinion, of course). The Intelligentsia«Black Cat Project» espresso is fantastic. Smooth, not bitter, with a very defined flavour. They have some decent snacks to accompany your brew. While the snacks are ok, they are not the value their coffee is. I buy a bag of both the decaf and regular Black Cat Espresso on a regular basis, but stop in when I need to do some work. No-one bothers you when you have your nose planted in your Mac… Highly recommend Wicked. Right on the 7th Ave Bikeway for those who need to grab a quick pickup on the ride home!

Sandwiches taste fresh, but are definitely on the pricer side, considering they are of the ordinary, makable-at-home variety(as opposed to some of these so-called gourmet sandwiches being cobbled together around town). The Intelligentsia coffee is nicely made. Other than that, the staff are always friendly and everything’s in place, at least when the Korean bossman is there to keep an eye out. Relaxed atmosphere to do a bit of work or chit-chat if you need to.

Came here for a quick fix to deal with a hunger craving for lunch during wine school, closest thing to walk to, didn’t want to walk anymore, I have heard great things, stop, open door, look, order. It is a nice café, with the big old communal table in the middle, and people ‘chilling’ out here with the Macbooks, and laptops sipping brew and eating what is on the menu. I found that the food items were a tad on the high priced side for what is being offered. I had a coffee and a cheese scone. It did fill me, but it wasn’t that satisfying… or as they say ‘wicked’ for my taste. It was odd too, as I was ordering, in line, and I got my order(which was the same order as the woman who ordered right in front of me) first? I usually like things in order… so that was quite odd.

Pretty cozy café; big one-person sofas, lots of window seeing, it’s amazing how fast and easy to miss this when driving down Hemlock to DT. Got that typical rustic look décor, it’s great to come and relax without the hustlin’ and bustlin’ of a Starbucks or Blenz coffee. Recommend the Roast Turkey panini, oven-cooked, comes with red peppers, honey dijon mustard, spinach, all the good stuff. Hard to compare to the Apple Deli which I tried earlier, which really knocked me off my feet, since that was a unique taste and texture. Also packed those gooey cinnamon buns, that’s my mid-afternoon dessert ;)

It was mid winter yet absolutely boiling inside! Apparently there is nothing they can do about the temperature. Didn’t think it was appropriate to take off my clothes in a public setting, so I had to roll up my sleeves as high as I could. Love the fact that they have flat whites!(Similar to a strong latte, but easier than saying: «Latte with two shots, no foam and not so much milk, please.» A large will set you back $ 4.20. It was creamy, yet strong. Gooooood. They also have long blacks. Don’t know who thought of bringing in the Aussie style drinks, but I’m glad they did. They also have wraps, quiches, cookies, and other café fare. Love the way that the milk foams at the top — you get a beautiful design. Almost don’t want to drink it and ruin the pattern! My vegetarian daughter loved her black bean wrap. So much that she still had it in her pocket five days later when we were back in Sacramento.

Wicked Café has become(by virtue of proximity) one of my new regular stops for coffee. It’s a nice little place, small and comfy(though the other side of the coin on this issue is that sometimes you won’t be able to find a place to sit, even on the tables outside) — but the space is fairly open, so if you normally like a bit of privacy you should perhaps beware what kinds of things you pull up on the Macbook that is probably sitting next to your latte. There’s also a much-used bike rack right out front for those pedaling along 7th. Lots of people tend to bring laptops and books and just burrow into a couch with their headphones for a while here — the vibe can be a bit awkward if you’re more the talkative type or you’re stopping by with a friend. This extends to the staff, who seem to flip quickly between cheery and distant attitudes. The coffee itself is from Intelligentsia, and it’s not bad — quite roasty and full bodied — but I wouldn’t call it great. My standby cappuccino occasionally comes out tasting flat or even a little burnt. Nice foam though — and they do a pretty snazzy bit of coffee art on every cup, which is always kind of fun to get. Baked goods include sweet bars and loaves, sandwiches of various kinds, muffins, biscotti and so forth. Most of it that I’ve tried has been quite tasty — there’s even a surprisingly good low-fat berry muffin option. I’m always keen to get a bite with my coffee and Wicked has me covered on that front. I’m not head over heels for the Wicked, but they make a decent cup of coffee and I usually go with my girlfriend so it ends up feeling a little more social. It also reminds me a bit of my favourite café of all time — the Sleepless Goat in Kingston, ON. If I weren’t so close to it, I’d probably search out another place for my caffeine fix, but Wicked does the job.

So I’ve been frequenting this place since they opened. Intelly coffee and baked goods. Until recently. Where are the good loaves??? Each morning I either have with my latte a waffle or banana bread loaf. There’s now no longer any chocolate/banana Ioaves, but a more expensive dry piece of nasty. What gives??? I hate to say, but my favorite café is on the downslide. More changes like they’ve been doing and *aghast* Starbucks looks good. Not sure they’ll be around at all if either intelly or waffles go.

Last time on my walk by, I decided to grab a coffee with my man-friend. Ok it’s weird saying man-friend, so I’ll just say boyfriend. He got me a coffee, so I liked that. Because it was on him. But other than that? Meh. That’s right. One big fat resounding MEH. The Americano was lacking in flavour and tasted almost… stale? I never knew a coffee shop can have stale coffee. Most of the time, I expect stale coffee from places like those diner cafes on the side of the road, where you stop for a shovel to eat and you’re back in your truck again, to deliver your load. No, I’m no trucker. But I’d sure like to imagine I’m one. Anyway, as if the coffee wasn’t bad enough, they were using this strong floor cleaner so the whole place smelled like a toilet. I don’t think I’ll be tempted to stop along here again. I’d rather go up the street and get a coffee at McDonalds. At least it’ll be half the price for twice the amount and the washroom smell won’t be permeating the whole place.

Sure, there’s a Starbucks(or two… or three) around the corner from my apartment, but I love nothing better on a sunny(or rainy) Sunday morning than to buy a copy of the weekend paper and head just east of South Granville Street to The Wicked Café. Small, cozy, and usually crowded(but in a good way), I try to get there early so i can get a comfy seat by the window(when patrons snag a table, they usually settle in for the long haul, so don’t count on loitering around in wait of a space to clear). Things that keep me coming back to Wicked? The carrot cake(mmm… cream cheese frosting!) and the Big Latte. I heart the Big Latte. Also, if I’m not lucky(or early) enough to get a spot, I just get my order to go and am perfectly content to window shop along South Granville. PS: Check out the photos I posted of some of the latte art the baristas at Wicked can do for you — lovely!
