I knew we shouldn’t have gone here. But we did as it wasn’t lined up and we all wanted eggs benny. How hard is it to «mess» up eggs, right?! We waited and waited for our food and I innocently said«It’s OK, as long as our food isn’t cold.» When we eventually got our meals, after checking with our server(she walked by avoiding eye contact a couple times), our food arrived tepid. The hashbrowns were frozen and deep fried(and in my companion’s case, still frozen on her plate) and the hollandaise appeared to be made from a mix. This is what BG claims on their site: «BG Urban Café is a lifestyle dining establishment offering customers an always fresh quality meal, superior service and those hard to find lifestyle products not available in traditional eateries, all within a value driven range of prices. High quality goods that are good for the body and pleasing to the palate. Feel good food.» And it’s not cheap($ 14.00 for a benny). As a clincher, the manager cranked up the Muzak and it was uncomfortably loud. We had to endure that awful Muzak while we waited 15 minutes for our plates to be cleared and for our bill. Not cool and not feeling good. :(

They have changed their menu and have a new professional chef. I had an amazing breakfast there. I had waffle and the breakfast taco… Both super delicious. The food design was also very nice. Also very friendly staff. Definately recomment this place if you’re around wistler.

They are in the process of changing their breakfast menu. I first ordered the breakfast bagel and was told they did not have bagels anymore. I then picked the buttermilk pancakes and was told they don’t have those anymore either. Eventually, I settled on the breakfast wrap which was pretty good. The service was slow. Our server brought us the check and we had our card out right away while she was at our table. She didn’t stay and she then brought a table of 6 their separate checks and stayed to run their cards instead of our card. Hopefully the menu change works out!

Bread and Garden used to be my favourite place to eat, but now it’s so bad… I wente there for breakfast and it was possibly the worst breakfast I’ve ever had. I felt like they had just half-defrosted the whole thing(including the fruits). Stay away.

We walked in for breakfast yesterday at around 8:30a. Seemed nice even though all the Unilocal reviews warned us otherwise. We sat down, ordered breakfast. 2 eggs, bacon, home fries and toast for me, Wifey and one of the kids. The other kids ordered an omelette, French toast and oatmeal. Our server was a nice young lady from Bristol, UK and very prompt and helpful in service. We wanted to order Caesars(Canadian Bloody Marys) but they aren’t allowed to serve drinks til 9a so we put our orders in and at 9:04a, our server brought our Casears. The food was fine, not bad, not amazing. Just a solid breakfast, good service. Exactly what we hoped for and exactly what we got. So to all those who fear the BGU Café, fear not, all is fine.

Stopped in at 8AM for a quick breakfast. Wow, just awful. It’s hard to screw up breakfast, it actually takes positive effort to make food this bad. Ham and cheese omelette — cooked on the surface, raw on the inside. Hash browns(from a freezer bag) — white and warm, frozen in the middle. A few pieces of old, wilted fruit. Coffee — not even fair to call that gross, grey liquid coffee. Just avoid this place. It’s just sad to write this, but I feel its a civic duty.

Crappy food, crappy service. It took 40 minutes to get our food, and the eggs were like they were from a box. Pass.

Came around 9 and was seated in this dinky, wobbly table outside in a dark corner away from everyone else, which was a warning sign in its own. Waited 15 minutes to be served, watching waiters and waitresses pas by without a second glance– had to track down a waiter and beg him to be served. Besides that, everything was standard. A little overpriced, but that’s Whistler Village. Tourist trap to the max. Beer was amazing. Local brewed(?) in Whistler«Powder Mountain» lager was DELICIOUS, suggested to us by the waiter who I’d tracked down. Also had a «Blind Russian» cocktail, basically a sweeter, milkier white russian. No vodka though, just irish cream. :/ Also got some Mango Chicken flatbreads– sort of offputting that they’d mixed mozzerrella and mango, but it was still good. My girl and I both got burgers, which were fantastic. Large burgers, large serving of fries, definitely worth it for those. Her chedder burger was a little bland but the mushroom burger I had was fantastic. Food and location get 4 stars, service gets a 2 for the wait, although our waiter was very friendly and made some good suggestions.

The location is good and the service was friendly and quick but the food is pretty awful. There are many better places to go in Whistler: why would anyone eat here? They make decent sandwiches and baked goods which are stocked in some gas stations(Chevron?). Those are OK but only because the bar for gas station food is so low.

Very boring place to eat — skip this place and try something else in the area. I tried the Thai chicken salad, and by «thai» they mean throwing some bean sprouts into a garden salad. My salad lettuce wasn’t even chopped to edible bites, and other veggies were mouthfuls as well. Chicken was dry and overcooked as well. The salmon burger was boring and roast beef sandwich was typical as well. Fish and chips didn’t look good at all. I figure if you’re in Whistler, you can get some good fish being close to the ocean and with all the rivers around — but it was definitely some frozen fish on a bed of McCain fries. It’s an edible meal — but that’s about it all I can say.

Disgusting food. Sticky menus, wobbly table, lack of service. How does this place survive? Oh yeah, Whistler Village is a tourist trap and nobody knows any better … I even got lured into eating the worst breakfast of my life at this place. Not gonna waste any more time writing this review, it’s just not worth it.

Great family dining. A variety of choices that made it easy for everyone(6) to get what they wanted. Eclectic menu really. The food came and everyone was very happy. Breakfast, sandwich, masala, burger, salad, and pasta. Low prices, especially for Whistler. Great service. Will return.

We were very disappointed with this restaurant! There was a group of 5 of us. My daughter ordered a ham sandwich with ranch and lettuce, she got a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with honey mustard and tomato. My husband ordered a calzone which was as hard as a rock! A friend of ours ordered fish and chips, but got captain highliners fish. It was absolutely horrible! We will definitely not be going back. One plus was that they took the calzone off the bill.

Most reasonably priced that we found in Whistler. Quick and friendly service. Breakfast was good.

Warning: Do not be misled by the 3-star review here because he had not said anything about the food. 3-stars means that it has potential, but in fact, it doesn’t. This place deserves a 1-star on all levels. Even their spacious patio. My boyfriend and I were meandering around Whistler because we were starving our asses off after a long, hard day hanging around our hotel room. So we stumbled upon Bread Garden and it appeared busy at the time. We looked at the menu posted on the window, and it didn’t seem that bad but it did not seem great at the same time. However, they had options that I thought they could not screw up. We were seated almost immediately, there were tons of waitresses and the manager seemed on top of things. That is until we ordered our food. I had the BLT. You can’t screw up BLT. But you know who did? Bread Garden at Whistler. The lettuce basically wasn’t existent and the bacon was limp and undercooked. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, and I expect bacon to be cooked nicely in 30 minutes. I am pretty sure all they did was stick it in the microwave to warm up pre-cooked slices. This is disgusting. After a 30 minute wait, you can imagine we were starving at this time and the food would actually taste good. It didn’t. It tasted like crap. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Ranch burger with a side of caesar salad. His caesar salad consists of the limpiest pieces of lettuce you could find anywhere. It had wilted because it had been under the hot lamp for so long. This is effing disgusting. So not only did we have a terrible experience with the food, we waited around for 15 minutes for our checks before the manager remembered that he had not given us ours yet. Everyone practically ignored us while we stared them down. Take everyone’s advice here: do not go unless you are in grave danger and you will die if you do not eat food. The patio sucks. It leaves little room for pedestrians to cross, meaning that you’d be stuck having everyone eye you down while you consume their microwaved, yet undercooked food.

Ok food, but overpriced and small portions. That«large salad» would pass as a side salad anywhere else.

This place is shiny and new for Whistler this past year(2010). It’s fairly spacious — but I’ve never seen it busy either. They have a nice patio to watch people in the summertime. The food is pretty pedestrian, but there are a few veg-friendly items. I can’t recall what I had, but I recall it wasn’t the cheapest option in town.

Food just shouldn’t be this bad when you’re dining out. I’ve got the entire narrative in my head. Here’s how I think it went: Wednesday morning, 8:00AM. Party of eight arrives for breakfast Manager: What do you mean all five cooks have pneumonia? Where the heck are we going to find cooks at this joint? Waitress: [muffled voice akin to Charlie Brown’s teacher] Manager: Dang it!(Rolls up sleeves.) It’s you and me then! Pick up that spatula! 20 minutes later, we were served. Burnt omelettes, rubbery sausage. Scrambled eggs that aged into old wrinkliness before they could even choose to scramble. Perhaps the bacon was edible, but get this: just the bacon was edible. Oh, and bread, which simply must be sliced. I think my imagination preserves some dignity for this place, but not enough for me to return.

Stopped in for a coffee and snack mid-afternoon. There were about 5 people behind the counter and after waiting 10 minutes for a coffee, I gave up and walked out. Probably the most inattentive service I have ever experienced.
