If you have kids and are hungry, this is an excellent choice. With 10 Canadian dollars, kids meal includes a burger or chicken strips plus a drink and ice cream as a dessert. And for adults, great New York steak is a must.

Everything was great. We all had steak(filet or sirloin), and everything was cooked perfectly. The service was great; they helped us celebrate a special birthday with an incredible ice cream cake. Consider this while in Whistler.

Big steakhouse in the Village with a sports bar downstairs. Positives — Prime Rib was excellent and came exactly as ordered /the kids steaks were also very well cooked. Negatives — 2 members of the party had their steaks really overcooked(a medium rate came out as medium well) /the restaurant was busy so everything took longer than ideal. Service was fine. Average.

Steak was just ok, service was terrible. Our waitress couldn’t handle our party of 17. Took forever to get even waters at our table. Waitress said the ran out of glasses. Very disappointed for the price we paid.

Couldn’t have asked for a better piece of Prime Rib. Cooked to perfection. Service was stellar, excellent wine list. Petite desserts are the perfect size. Probably the best meal I had while in Whistler.

Stellar service with a very friendly waiter. Had the pistachio crusted salmon for this visit(vs the steak) and I was not disappointed! Cooked perfect. It was paired with roasted brussel sprouts baked with maple sauce– YUM! Could leave without the Billy Miner Pie!

My biggest disappointment with this restaurant is the lack of vegetarian options. Now before you get angry, I need to explain this a bit more. I was visiting for a work function and had little say in where we went for dinner and I’m not an idiot: I know that the Keg isn’t vegetarian-friendly. I don’t expect a steakhouse to be a great place for me to eat. However, it straight up says on their menu(online and in the restaurant) «Vegetarian and Gluten-Free options are available upon request». I even made an effort to call ahead and ask what my options were and was told they usually throw together«something like vegetarian tacos». However, it turns out that their menu disclaimer actually means that vegetarians are free to choose a variety of side dishes to throw a meal together. Not cool. I did manage to «throw together» a pretty decent meal of a baked brie appetizer(which was amazing!), a spinach salad(which was a standard, not very exciting, salad), and a baked potato(which was covered in sour cream and chives. Yum!) It was more than enough food for me and even though I was craving dessert, it was not happening. I have no complaints about the kitchen and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I was also impressed with the service staff(whose efforts definitely saved this review). They were awesome at dealing with our big group and our complicated orders. It seemed like we had ever waiter in the restaurant at our table when the food arrived. As for the atmosphere, it was exactly what you’d expect from The Keg: plush seats, low lighting, and a cozy ambiance. Overall I was pleased. I just don’t like being told I’ll have a proper meal, and then having to improvise with side-dishes when I get to the restaurant.

This is the first time I’ve gone to the Keg at Whistler. I have to say I was a bit disappointed. Generally, I like the Keg. If you want something meaty, the Keg has a lot to offer you! They are renowned for their steaks and prime rib. Not so great in this location. When I first walked in I was a bit stunned by the state of this Keg. The décor was rustic to say the least. The seating and tables are a through back to the 1980s. I felt like I was in an old run down cafeteria. This location is certainly not as modern looking as the Vancouver locations. I ended up sharing some appies and I had the surf and turf: 8 ounce Sirloin steak and half an Atlantic lobster. The appies were good…(calamari, and a tuna tartar), but my meal was so so… The sirloin was cooked well, but it was a tough piece of meat. It had a tough chewy stringy feel to it. The lobster was a bit over cooked. To me… it seemed like it was over boiled. All the flavour and texture had been boiled out of the lobster. The only flavour I could derived from this meal was by dipping everything in the melted butter. Overall, a bit disappointing. I know they can do better! Service was very good. Our waiter was very attentive and looked after us well. I looked at my bill… in total I paid about $ 88 for dinner. $ 13 of it was for the«service» charge. We had a large group(14 people) so they strapped that«special service“charge on us all. I can see their point, but I just have difficulty mentally processing it! You know, I would have tipped the waiter 15%($ 13) without you guys«forcing» me to do it! The Keg was a bust to me. I look forward to finding some other culinary delights that Whistler has to offer!

Had reservations for a group of 12 for dinner on a Thursday night. Wasn’t busy at all since this was off season. The restaurant had a great atmosphere. It was dark, nicely decorated, intimate, and possibly a little bit romantic. However, 12 loud people invading the main space kinda ruined that lol. Our waiter was super patient. We couldn’t decide on wine or apps, and asked a ton of questions regarding the types of meat. He was very nice in explaining things and made great recommendations. I was super impressed that they were able to bring out all of our entrees at the same time. It irks me when restaurants don’t make that effort. On to the food: Drinks: Ordered 4 bottle of Cab and Zin. Both were very good. Starters: — Calimari: It was crispy and perfectly seasoned. — Escargot: It was stuffed in Mushroom caps with garlic and herbs. Two things I hate… mushrooms and escargot. I just couldn’t bring myself to eat it. Not even a bite. –Baked Brie: Included basil pesto and jelly. Cutest presentation, the crostini was in bread slice shapes. — Crab cakes: *droooool It was so good! They’re small and plump so it was packed with flavor. Can’t go wrong with these. Main dish(Coworker and I shared): — 14oz Prime Rib: Ordered med rare(I usually order rare but not this time). It was the thickest cut of prime rib I’ve ever had. I got the large so I can share however this was not the best since it came out more medium and the meat was a bit chewy. Overall it was good, not too much fat. Came with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. — Feature cut: Bleu Cheese Filet: umm yes!!! I love meat… and bleu cheese! Oh, and roasted garlic cloves to top it off. It was basically a filet wrapped with applewood smoked bacon. This is a must try for fellow bleu cheese lovers, or even if you’re not and want to explore. Seems like all of the other dishes were giant portion and very good. FYI, the Rib Steak is massive!

The Keg restaurant, Whistler British Columbia. Located in Whistler Village. Starters was the French onion soup hearty beef broth with Sherry Spanish onions Swiss and Parmesan cheese a little heavy on the sourdough bread. Steaks ordered, one was a filet mignon wrapped in Applewood smoked bacon. Requiring a medium well temperature, they butterflied the steak without asking. The other steak was a Blackened Sirloin coated with herbs and spices and finished with an herb butter, medium rare, it was perfect. As a side dish was wonderfully roasted red peppers and fresh green beans. We would absolutely recommend the keg for a upscale dining experience in Whistler.

The food was good and the serving lady was so nice and attentive it was almost too much. I had the fillet with a loaded baked potato. Unfortunately the potato was the best part of the meal. The steak was cooked well but wasn’t the most tender fillet for the price. We had a nice bottle of wine(not my usual drink) but it went very well with the food. The steak came with real baronies sauce which is always delicious and the veggies were cooked properly.

For me The Keg is synonymous with consistency… You know you’re going to get a good steak at a good price with a taste you expect. Service was great here but the steaks were just not upI par. May have been some below average cuts sent by their butcher but it just wasn’t the Keg steaks I am used to. A table of 5 of us actually used HP sauce to eat our steaks which I’ve never done before at a steakhouse. One of us sent ours back and got a new one which was better. They didn’t charge for the first steak and gave him 40% off the second. Again service and ambiance were excellent but we just didn’t get the steaks we were expecting.

Another restaurant that you can guarantee you know what you are going to get and are good with gluten free. I had the half rack of ribs with a twice baked potato. I LOVE the twice baked potato. The half rack was a good portion, I wasn’t stuffed and uncomfortable. My boyfriend’s dad’s order was mixed up so they gave him his dinner for free, which was awesome!

I hadn’t been to a Keg for a long time but we went the other night because we had a $ 100 gift card for said establishment. Lighting was dim as per Keg protocol but without the much-needed warming addition of candles. The room was greatly lacking in ambiance but the tables were full of groups and families. We were seated by a brisk waiter who seemed eager to «give us time» to study the menu. Our plates arrived within a reasonable amount of time. My friend had a seafood chicken plate composed of two slabs of charbroiled chicken(White Spot style), 2 soggy pieces of what appeared to be half-roasted, half-boiled red pepper, mashed potatoes, tasteless green beans and asparagus complete with fibrous tips. Also on the plate was a small tangle of salty stringy vinegary stuff(completely inedible), which we were told was crabmeat. My 7 ounce New York steak, which I had ordered medium rare, arrived completely charred on top and brown rather than pink inside. When I pointed this out to the waiter he asked me to show him what was wrong with it, rather than simply hastening to make it right. After prodding the steak to show him the evidence he took it back and said he would bring me a new one cooked medium rare. A little while later another waitress arrived, apologized and said something about offering a discount for«not being able to eat at the same time as my friend»(rather than apologizing for the clumsily cooked steak). I didn’t pay much attention but noted that the usual offer of a free glass of wine was not forthcoming. When the new steak arrived it was cooked correctly but by then my friend was finished and my glass of wine was done. The steak was accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes and a couple of slabs of red pepper. The new steak and the potatoes were fine, good enough, but nowhere near great and there was clearly no attempt to make the plate look good or the vegetables taste good. Good old steak and potatoes but at premium prices. When the bill arrived I saw that the discount for the incorrectly cooked steak was a whooping $ 6.00 off of a $ 70 bill, before tip. Fortunately, we had been given a gift card so I didn’t directly take the hit for this subpar restaurant experience. White Spot would do it better at half the price or definitely Earl’s. This Keg is not for me.

I love the keg. It’s a very proud establishment that always deliver on food and service. The keg at the whistler is not a keg. The service and food is so poor and far off typical keg standard, it must be on it’s last leg before a major renovation to align itself with more modern kegs. Here’s what I experienced: An incompetent server with professionalism comparable to truck stop diners. Takes your order wrong and when wrong food comes. Argues with you that he wrote down fries when you said mixed vegetables. When other guests agreed I never said fries he questions why can’t I just eat fries. Before going back with a plate of mixed vegetables. While pouring water for booth table of 6. Will miss at least one or two glasses on each attempt. Food arrives all at separate time. And here comes the bill time. Bad experiences at restaurants are often the crucial moments that really tests the competency of staff. It can either make it or break it. Server followed the great keg standard and practice of apologizing for bad experience. Proceeded to offer free cake, took off a Caesar salad and offered 20% off the bill. I was ready to stand up and applaud the man for turning a very bad and tense situation to save the day. Bravo. Only when the bill came. Said 20% was a lie. Instead you get 10% off a $ 225 bill before tax. When we pointed that out to server. He said yes. The discount ranges between 10−20%. That’s when we told him but you said a 20%. And that’s when things got awkward and he said nothing but just continued punching in the credit card machine to collect the money/receipt. Sigh. Had he just said 10% in the first place. He would’ve salvaged the night. Had he admitted he was wrong. He would’ve salvaged the night. Rather he decided to go for the«it’s late and I’m closing your table now just just pay and all is over route». Was such a tease. Just when you thought keg whistler is great none the less. It falls flat on it’s feet. Safe to say. All 6 of us agreed to never come back.

I had a great meal and time at the keg I had a small steak with was perfectly cooked. An Old Fashioned, Martini, and half a bottle of wine(not sure what brand other than it being a red) this is probably why I had such a good time . My girlfriend got the chicken which of course I had to try and was delicious Overall I had a great experience, next time I’m in whistler I will have to come back

KEG provides the similar experience up in the Whistler mountains as in Vancouver. Everything in Whistler is crowded for dinner time on the weekends, luckily KEG takes reservations. — filet 3 ways: 3 small pieces of filet(7 oz total) served with 3 types of sauces, this is my favourite tonight. — prime rib(10oz) with sides of veggies and rice pilaf — this is not as good as the filet, even at medium rare. — sides: — twice baked potato with bacon bits — excellent choice of a side — Caesar salad — excellent side, HUGE portions(almost like a salad entrée by itself) — ** BEST part: piping hot bread with fluffy whipped butter spread! — rice pilaf — got so good — veggies — very large pieces(for their special presentation) but not my cup of tea. I like my veggies cooked through and more intensely flavoured.

I am a true fan of «The Keg» and always have been so on our trip to Whistler, I made sure to stop here and bring Brandon for his first time experience at a Keg… although we ate elsewhere that evening we stopped here for dessert and drinks afterwards :) Billy Minor Pie OH My! so good! Seriously, make sure you get the pie!!! It seemed super busy when we arrived so we just went to the bar so that we didn’t take up a table or have to wait. We sat down and Brandon ordered a beer and I ordered the Pie and a water… to which I got asked if I was 19! At first I was confused because 1 i hadn’t been ID’d the entire trip and 2 i ordered pie and water??? Anyways I had to show my ID to prove i was 25 and allowed to eat pie i guess… well i guess allowed to sit at the bar. Anyways the Pie was amazing, we ate it all and I will be back, if not to this location soon at least to the one in Brantford Ontario in May! Also, from past experiences. Keg size Ceasars are YUM!

The Keg Steakhouse & Bar is located in the heart of Whistler Village and sits above a lively bar called Brandy’s. We came here for a hearty satisfying dinner. Although Brandy’s bar downstairs was very energetic and loud, the ambiance of the dining area upstairs was relaxing and warm. Getting here was a little bit of an adventure, mostly because we were visiting the area for the first time and didn’t really know our way around the Village. Parking can be complicated, since you need to park in certain designated areas and then walk into the Village. Once we finally arrived we were hungry! For starters we ordered the Tempura Snap Peas & Asparagus, which was lightly battered and served with a very tasty soy dipping sauce. They were so good we gobbled them up pretty fast! For my main entrée I ordered the grilled Top Sirloin classic, which came with a salad, veggies and potato. I selected the Iceberg Wedge Salad which was so delicious. The creamy bleu cheese dressing was fantastic! I also selected the Twice Baked Potato with bacon bits, very yummy. The Steak was tender and had a good seasoning. The plating could have been better presented, but overall, it was a good meal. The service was good and the prices are to be expected for the area, although we were here during off season. Overall it was a nice dining experience.
