Excellent choice in Whistler. Pasta with seafood and pasta with clams were outstanding. However, Caesar salad was boring. Lemon tart and crème brûlée worked very well. Service was fast, sometimes too fast, and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Don’t miss it.

Great location & a good spot to hit after a day on the slopes. Food was good if not great. The gnocchi was excellent, the veal chop was good but the pavlova was only average. Service was very good & they took care of the children well. One of the better restaurants we have been to in Whistler & we will be back.

* this review is about the service, not the food * I had dinner at Trattoria Di Umberto this past Saturday night with a group of girlfriends and will not be back. Ever. The food was delicious but I was so offended by the attitude of our waiter, especially at the end of our meal, and his treatment of us that it marred the experience. We were a group of 5 ladies all around 30(not that his treatment of us should have been any different if we were 20 or 50 years old either). Dinner started off well enough — as he recommended a few bottles of wine in our price range and the one we selected was actually quite good. But he was unable to hide his visible displeasure that a few us elected to share mains(their pasta dishes can be quite large) that I felt almost guilted in to ordering a starter, despite not really wanting one. When the bill came we asked if it would be possible to split it and he acted like that was the most impossible and imposing request he had ever received. What really ticked me off was when processing our individual credit cards he pre-selected the 20% tip option before handing the machine back to each of us. I couldn’t believe it. While we may not have been as indulgent as he would have liked as we only had 1 bottle of wine for the 5 of us, split a few mains etc, resulting in a lower total bill(and tip based on a percent of that). Tipping should always be at the diners discretion. It was totally inappropriate and we left the restaurant all pretty ticked off, after what was a delicious meal.

Well three visits to this restaurant, I know the food has potential to be fantastic, but for me it was served cold. My husband sent his steak back as it was cold it was returned STILLCOLDANDNOWOVERCOOKEDCOLD. My pasta was not al dente. It was UNDERCOOKED. The appetizers we ordered for starters were delicious crab cakes and perfect. The gelato was delicious. The waitress was lovely. It is a pity that the main course ruined our evening 2 out of three times, as a local this is sad too as the ambience is lovely. The manager didn’t seem to care(probably not interested in repeat customers) when there are so many wealthy tourists in town. We were offered a free glass off moscato which we were not drinking so why would we want one? We were drinking pricey bottled champagne and red wine.(Shame on you for trying to fob us off with CHEAPSWEETLOLLYWATER. THANKSFORRUININGMY50 birthday and my 32 year wedding anniversary.

This past weekend our company hosted a dinner for our employees with Trattoria Di Umberto for the 4th year now. We continue to come back for the impeccable food and service. It would be our recommendation to consider this venue for small or larger groups. The ambiance is also ideal for dates. The location is great and an easy walk from most places in the upper or lower village.

This restaurant is one of the best I have ever visited in my life. The food is well cooked and prepared. I went with my family for dinner and we all had a great meal. The Alfredo pasta was AMAZING, also the Mushroom risotto. I The food was a little bit pricy but totally worth it in my opinion. Would recommend this for all.

Ate here on a busy Sunday night. Arrived at 530 when the restaurant opened. Great food and great service! Reasonable prices for whistler too. A main dish averaged about $ 25 which is comparable to other Italian restaurants located in the greater Vancouver area.

The Trattoria is pleasant and service was OK, but not fantastic. Salads were served with excellent dressing and the crab cake appy was very nice. The mains were disappointing. The pasta all’amatriciana which is supposed to be spicy wasn’t and the worst was the scallops and prawns in which the scallops were badly overcooked and closer to scallop-flavoured hockey pucks.

This would have received 5 stars if the service was a bit better — the waitress in the beginning was great but it tapered off and it took us a while before we could get someone to pay attention to us. Aside from that, the food was absolutely amazing.

This is a very nice Italian Restaurant that serves good food. The portions are reasonable and the food taste good. The mint soup was good but the beef carpaccio was excellent. The linguine vongole tasted very good with plenty of vongole.

Very good cooking at this place. Had no reservation and was given 2 seats at the open kitchen bar. Fun.

Very good dinner and cocktails. Recommended to us by friends who had been there. I had a haddock special that was very good. Wine prices are very high but selection is good. Would recommend to anyone looking for good food close to town.

It’s an underpromiser, overdeliverer. Don’t be fooled by its less prime location, just off the main walkway. Also don’t be fooled by its super casual atmosphere and the kids/families everywhere. Sure it’s a family friendly Italian spot, but the food really does rock. Didn’t hurt that our waiter was great too. The minestrone soup was surprisingly excellent(didn’t think a minestrone could ever make my tastebuds jump) and my salmon was perfection too. Tiramisu for dessert, simple… classic… classy! Pro tip: Don’t get confused and accidentally go to the other«di Umberto» on the main Village walk if you’ve got a reservation for Trattoria, it’s an easy mixup. Same owner, but very different vibe and menu.

A memorable night of dining. One of those places where there’s depth to the menu, meaning there’s many things you wish you could try. Go with a few people so you can mix and match. Hard to go wrong!

You can probably see from my history reviews that I am no stranger to Italian restaurants, particularly in Whistler. I was very anxious to visit this restaurant as I had a great experience at their sister restaurant called Il Caminetto. Perhaps my expectations were high, but Trattoria failed to deliver. They have a good wine selection, a few of which I had tried in the past. On this occasion ordered the red wine called MASI. I’m familiar with the taste have brought it home many times the past so I was no stranger to it. However this particular glass that my waiter brought me did not taste the same. I should have asked to see the bottle but unfortunately I did not. Our bread was served with butter and not the traditional olive oil and balsamic vinegar you typically see at most Italian restaurants. I found the bread to be rather bland too. Meanwhile what was most disappointing about this establishment was the ambience. The restaurant is connected to the pool deck of a hotel. It is quite noisy as there were many kids splashing water in the pool. It’s a distraction that impacts the experience of the restaurant overall. I have no complaints about the entrées as they were executed well. Nonetheless, in light of the noise and issue with the wine, I was not pleased with the overall experience. That being said, I want to give it another shot on a weekday when it is possibly a bit quieter and am seated away from the windows. I want to do this because I’ve heard from many others that the restaurant is good and I’m sure they can deliver.

This place really wowed me. Our waitress was so friendly, accommodating, and fantastic. I was stuck between two items on the menu and she said that she would give me a half order of both. I thought that was just so cool. I definitely definitely recommend the a la Indiana. It’s so unique and great and I can guarantee you won’t be able to find this dish anywhere else. Great for a special occasion. If it wasn’t so far away, I’d go back again.
