We were recommended to eat at this restaurant by the concierge at our hotel. We had a good, fun meal. I had the rack of lamb and my husband had the linguini w clam sauce. My rack of lamb was coined perfectly. We started with the fried fresh mozzarella. I wish I had just gotten the regular mozzarella as I want crazy about this app. They have a good selection of wine at reasonable prices too. Our waiter did a good job of taking care of us during a very busy time!

The restaurant is central to Whistler. We stayed at the Fairmont that had free shuttle ride to the village so it was convenient. The restaurant had a great vibe with its low lights, candles, wood paneling, and very friendly staff. I had the tagliolini with lobster. My spouse had the osso bucco. Both dishes were superb but I did prefer the osso. Nothing wrong with the pasta dish, but there’s something to having bone marrow in the middle of winter. We tried local red wines but preferred the more full bodied merlot. Dessert was a scrumptious lemon tart with meringue. Experience was lovely. I highly recommend the restaurant. It is on the pricey side but well worth the date night we had planned. Great Italian restaurant.

Utterly scandalous. $ 30 for two Cannelloni that had the same geometrical heft as a pair of sewing needles lifted from a pin cushion. Lathered in an unimaginative sauce reminiscent of Campbell’s tomato soup, and touted by our server as a «…baked dish that will require some lead time to prepare.» It arrived in a semi gelatinous state, indicating that the«lead time» amounted to its mise en place earlier in the week, followed by a minute or two in the kitchen’s microwave before being served. The maitre’d passed by the table briefly asking if we were satisfied, but it clearly was a case of res ipsa loquitur.

We had dinner last night at Umberto Il Camineto. While we are not«regulars» this was not our first visit to this restaurant but it was the first disappointing visit. We don’t get to Whistler often but when we do dinner at this restaurant is always something we look forward to. The restaurant was its usual warm and inviting self, busy but not overly so. Our waiter was excellent, friendly and professional. After a cocktail, we ordered our food. Starters arrived(pork terrine, ahi tuna carpaccio, heirloom tomato salad with burrata cheese) and they were fine, although the tomato/burrata salad was straight out of the cooler. I prefer that type of salad to be room temperature. Next the mains. My grind and I both had the lamb sirloin which was a special that evening. The lamb was tough and relatively flavourless. My wife had a beef tenderloin which was«absolutely delicious». My friends wife had veal piccata which was good although lightly breaded. The real disappointment came from a table of 5 middle-aged guys and 1 woman who were seated not far from us. As the evening progressed and they drank more they became loud and obnoxious. They must have been friends of the manager as he was hanging around them all night long. We were treated to many an F-bomb and other sexual comments to the point that we complained to our waiter who said he would mention it to the manager. We were able to see that the manager did absolutely nothing. At one point the manager delivered 2 of our mains to our table but he just dropped them in front of the wrong person and darted away to look after the table of his buddies. One of the noisy guys had not even bothered to dress appropriately for an evening out at a fine dining establishment, wearing only droopy jeans and a dirty white undershirt. This kind of behaviour from grown men and the absolute disregard shown by the manager is not what we expect from an expensive restaurant in a world-class resort. For the money we paid we expected a bit more than average or worse food and a party of overgrown frat boys. We are not prudes but we were also not the only people within earshot of that table of boors and for this reason Il Camineto is off our list of favourite restaurants in Whistler. What a shame.

This rating is based on the only dish I tried & loved — — - I had my absolute favorite dish here — Gnocchi with cream sauce. It was lovely, creamy, dreamy, melt in your mouth. One of my top places for gnocchi. I try it wherever has it. and this is one of the best. I love Giardino in Vancouver, one of his other restaurants as well. MMM cant wait to have it again.

It was a cold rainy day at Whistler. The original plan was to hit the Valley Trail today… it’s a 40 km bike trail that runs through most of Whistler proper. I’ve never ridden it but it is suppose to be a pretty scenic ride: it goes around the lake and outskirts of 2 Whistler golf courses. I really wanted to try it out! Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate! Kudos to Anna L. I have to give her a big thumps up today! She drove up to Whistler despite the rain with her bike in tow. What a trooper she is! Anyways, we ended up going shopping in Squamish than playing golf at Furry Creek in the pouring rain! The rain didn’t let up till we finished our round! We were starving after a cold wet round of golf and ended up going to II Caminetto di Umberto’s for a late dinner. This was my first time to this joint and overall, thumbs up! I guess if I had to classify it, Umberto’s is an upscale Italian restaurant serving popular Italian theme dishes to the well healed Whistler clientele. We shared some crab cakes and tuna tartar for appies. Both dishes were pretty good. I like that they served 3 different kinds of breads. Cuz I was starving I loaded up on the fresh bread. My main course was a bowl of fusilli pasta with Atlantic lobster. The dish was tasty with lots of lobster pieces. My only minor compliant is that the dish was a bit on the small side. I’m not a terribly big eater, but I have to say I fill my cereal dish with more cereal than the amount of pasta I got! I’m a glass is half full kind of guy so I just told myself well that leaves me more room for desert! I tried the tiramisu for desert. Very nice. Creamy, rich, and decadent. Nothing else need be said! I love tiramisu and luckily I don’t eat it often. I still want to ride the Valley Trail… if I do come up for a day trip and ride it this Summer I’ll be sure to dinner at Umberto’s!

One of my favorite spots to eat in Whistler! The only reason why they are not getting 5 stars is due to the service we experienced at our last dinner… but every other time we have gone here both the food and service has been exceptional. Last time we dined here, we called ahead of time to reserve a table on the patio. The hostess confirmed our reservation on the phone but to our surprise upon arrival the hostesses told us that«they will see if a patio table is available» …when we specifically made reservations for the patio. Regardless we did end up getting a table on the patio, first they stuck us in a less than ideal table outside(against the wooden door frame) but the manager, who was amazing, moved us to a nice table on the patio. The hostess even had to audacity to tell us firstly that they don’t take reservations for the patio when she is the one who told us minutes earlier that the table we wanted was«reserved» for someone??? Enough ranting :) On to the food! Everything I have tried has been amazing… some of my favorites: Sablefish entrée, Spaghetti alla Vongole, Green asparagus risotto and seared scallops and the YUMMY pistachio crème Brule! My boyfriend gets the fillet every time and loves it. every time! They have great martinis as well.

The best food we had while in Whistler. And the waiter we had was great. Young guy from New Brunswick. Didn’t blink when we asked for a couple of special orders. Was very attentive. The prosciutto was delicious and the risotto primavera outstanding and fresh. Highly recommended over other spots in the village.

This place is terrible… only thing good is the interior decoration, which pulls in the tourist… to start service is so slow… the lobster bisque i had was not lobster bisque… more like soap water… cafeteria at my work has better soup… the food was even worst… however, bread was good… so if u like to eat good bread, try this place… other wise no… totally not recommended…

Service: exceptional Food: Beet and burrata salad: I’ll eat burratta in anything so I’m biased. Beets were not«roasted» as the menu claimed. Carpaccio: delicious. Wafer thin slices of beef with Parmesan, capers and a neatly shredded boiled egg. Most flavorful carpaccio I’ve had. Ribeye steak with green pesto: meh. Crab cakes: phenomenal. Must order. They were chock full of crab(no surimi here) and very yummy. Pistachio crème brûlée: where were the pistachios? Passion fruit panacotta: yummy. Smooth texture and passionfruity. Mussels from salt island(?): if they have them, get them. I’ve never had a fresher more succulent mussel. Go back? Nope as nothing in the entrees appealed to me and I ordered appetizer, salad, dessert then picked at my partners meal.

WOW!!! This has officially become my new fave spot for PASTA!!! I have eaten at many high end restaurants throughout Vancouver and have yet to find more than 2 that can cook up a mean cream sauce dish… THISPLACE has won my heart with their FETTUCCINEPARMAPROSCIUTTO w/à la carte PRAWNS… the noodles r cooked perfectly, the peas soft yet firm, prosciutto is fairly lean and not too salty and the $ 4 per PRAWN were individually amazing and fresh! The service I wouldn’t expect anything less, was SPOTON but not too much… friendly hot babe server too hahahah I will ALWAYS eat here now!!!

We had a great time at this restaurant. The food was marvelous from the appetizer to the dessert. The service was impeccable, leaving us enough time to enjoy the presence of our friends, never interrupting. The wine selection was consistent with the this type of restaurant. We like the musique. And the ambiance. I would certainly recommend this to a friends.
