Takapuna ‘town’ as it is fondly nick-named has become quite popular with people my age and Bin Bin deluxe is probably the main reason. I have only recently discovered this bar and I love it because it has a real night club feel after about 11pm, especially on Thursday nights when they host their famous events. They have a different event every Thursday night which they name Social Strut or The Hound and they are really cool! Heaps of people go and they have a really awesome vibe to them with live djs and photographers taking pics all night long. If you don’t fancy drinking or have been nominated the sober driver there is really good free parking right outside the bar and you can park there for as long as you like. The décor is really cool and comfortable, my friend hosted her 21st birthday here and it was so great. They have plenty of seating including couches as well as a stage where everyone did their speeches, the place was also hers for most of the night! If you are after a change of scene check out this awesome hip bar!

Bin Bin was previously known as Sin Bin in my high school days. This was the go to place every Thursday night in my hay day but they are still just as good to this day! I decided to check the place out last Thursday. The place itself is large and still has the sports bar feel to it(ahh, reminiscing). It was packed wall to wall with pre pubescent’s that made me feel like I was baby sitting but it is still a great fun time there. Not the classiest of bars but very fun at that. I need to revisit for lunch some time as I have heard that the food is actually very nice there.

Bin Bin deluxe. Well let’s not judge a book by its cover here. The name does it no justice… it makes me think I’m going to be partying in some special edition rubbish dump. But truth be told Bin Bin does deliver. I’d say it’s the new go-to of Takapuna especially on a Thursday night! Live DJs mean the dance floor cranks and the crowd goes wild. The only downside, and it is a big one, is the ridiculous snaking, impenetrable line you must endure to get inside. It almost makes the visit not worth it. So quality advice for the Bin bin-ers: make sure you plan your entrance for between 9 and 10pm so you can be sure to waltz straight in!
