Solid fish and chips. Good service and food and a nice view sitting out front. Friendly staff. Would stop by again.

I make a bee line for this place when I’m in the neighborhood. I have yet to sample menu but it looks promising. The pub has a very classic«old» feel when you walk in. The beer garden is my favourite thing about this place. It’s a great place to wind down with friends. We were there on a Friday early evening and it was very pleasant. A good end to a full day out and about the shore.

Ordered a patriot chicken burger and a beer. The food was flavorful and came quickly. The bar keeper was friendly and checked on my party frequently. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. I enjoyed my experience here!

Good pub and great for a Saturday arvo in the sun. They have seating on the road side and out the back in a garden bar area. Downside is they have the toilet upstairs only so for propel who are disabled or not very mobile this is not ideal. Good vibes though.

A great Devonport neighborhood bar! The beer garden in the back of the bar is a great place to get together. We were there in the evening and there was a wonderful breeze in the garden. Very Pleasant. The bar has an excellent Selection of wine, beer and spirits. The menu is small but excellent. I had the Gnocchi with chorizo. It was fantastically prepared and quite tasty. Friends had the pies — chicken and leek or beef both with mash. Both looked great and the only complaint… Couldn’t finish it. Portions are nice. Service was superb. Truly a great place.

One of the few classic pubs left in Auckland! It’s an icon in Devonport and every time you want to watch a game I recommend going to this place as it’s got a great atmosphere with plenty of space and seating. Great location and drink prices are pretty standard but good portions. This place is two story inside of an old bank. It’s got a lot of character as well as an impressive garden bar. I tend to spend a lot of time here in Summer and Winter! It accommodates for everyone well.

The day we visited ‘The Patriot’, was so stinking hot that I was literally fantasizing about a cold alcoholic beverage. Arriving on The Patriots doorstep was like stumbling upon a lake in the middle of the desert when you are about to die a painful death thanks to dehydration. As it was so sweltering all the decent seats out the front had already been taken so we shuffled around the back and to our surprise found a lovely little beer garden, with some tables and chairs perched out the back here, as well as seating up on the second floor balcony. It was quite shady and sheltered out there, so it was the perfect spot to enjoy an nice old corona with lime yum! I was getting hungry watching all the meals come out of the kitchen, so I ordered myself a salmon salad, that was surprisingly delicious. I can really appreciate a pub that does both food and drink really well.

Ahhh The Patriot, there are so many good times to be had here. When growing up, we used to roam Devonport floating from house party to house party and often ending the night on one of the many beautiful beaches. When we were old enough to actually venture into a bar, The Patriot was it. The guys behind the bar are awesome. They’re super friendly, up for a laugh and remember you after a few visits. The inside of the bar is pretty traditional England pub style with plenty of room for seating or dancing if things go that way. One of the best things about The Patriot is the beer garden out the back. Shaded by trees and with plenty of room, it’s a perfect way to see away the afternoon. The bar is pretty big, with two stories, which makes it great for hiring out for events. Sit out front on Devonport’s main street, inside, or in the beer garden. Enjoy some great beer and pub fare. And take part in their weekly pub quiz, you’ll feel like a Devonport local in no time.

I’m not much of a beer drinker so you won’t generally find me holed up in the local tavern downing pints but when it comes to pubs the Patriot is the best one I can think of. It has everything! It’s huge so there’s heaps of different areas including a really cool beer-garden out the back for lazy afternoons in the sun — its got the relaxed atmosphere of sitting in your best mate’s backyard. They’ve got a function room that you can hire with pool tables and theres also heaps of tables out the front on the main street, great spot for the afternoon sun and a bit of people-watching. The best thing about the Patriot is that they do a really good job with entertainment, there’s literally always something on here — weekly quiz nights, live music, and they play all the big sports games on their big screen, awesome for the rugby during winter!

Devonport is a lovely place to spend a sunny, Sunday afternoon and if you want good food and drink there, the patriot is the place to go. It’s an English pub but as someone who grew up with good pubs in Ireland, it’s as good as it gets in Auckland. There’s lot of nooks and crannies for privacy and there’s pool tables and verandas out the back if you want to have a smoke. The music always seems to be good there, the likes of Oasis and The Verve brought me right back to my youth. You’re probably wondering now if the food is any good and I can assure you it’s excellent. The last time I went I had a goats cheese and lamb salad that was mouth watering — and very healthy! My friend got the burger which was big and juicy. It wasn’t cheap but I don’t mind paying that bit extra if it’s good quality. Overall, the Patriot is great pub and a must if you are spending the day in Devenport.

If you like a traditional pub, with traditional English fare, then you will love the Patriot. Trust me, take a day to explore Devonport’s charms, and then enjoy your lunch or dinner at The Patriot. Set inside what was once an old bank, you can enjoy a perfectly poured Guinness, and the best pie in Auckland. I like to go on quiz nights, and for sunny lunches. On any given day you can sit street side and take in the view. The staff’s friendly, and we really did not have to wait long for our meals to arrive. Nighttime brings a party atmosphere, but it never gets rowdy or cramped. The Patriot never disappoints, and if you want my opinion, try the pie…
