Fun and busy café in Newmarket. The prices are reasonable and the servings are generous. I had the fish burger and with the chips made a good feed. Next time I’d like to try the the lettuce burger, looks fun. Staff were crazy, in a very good way.

One of the best burgers I’ve had, and I got the chicken. Fries were good too. Soda was nothing special. It was the right size for me but a bit too small for the guys. Nice vibe to the place.

5 star burger! If there was a 6th star, this burger joint would deserve it. I ordered the chicken and I was not disappointed. Cajun grilled chicken thigh, red pepper, tomato jam, aged cheddar and aioli paired perfectly together on a delicious bun. This burger turned to sloppy joe and I had now qualms with licking the juice off from running down my arms. The peanut butter and chocolate shake was another delicious treat this place had to offer. Served in a cute old fashioned milk jar with extra chocolate and crushed peanuts on top! I will definitely be returning to try the beef burger and potato wedges on my next trip!

It’s just a burger place right? Nothing too exciting going on here you think. Well you would be wrong my friend. Get your walking shoes on and go down that little alley. Burgers are worth it, cocktails are decent, music is there. Highly recommend adding bacon etc to your burger… Or you can even get a naked burger with no bun!!! They don’t call them that but there you are.

I first came here a few months ago and had a kids meal. Impressed by their sides but didn’t care for the burger. Was here yesterday and had their lamb burger and it was amazing. I also had a bite of my boyfriend’s beef burger and that was good too. Guess I just ordered the wrong thing the first time.

Stumbled upon this gem in a row of cute shops and restaurants on the way to the train station after a long morning(and afternoon) of hiking up Mount Eden and shopping in Newmarket. Coming to New Zealand, I didn’t anticipate on having a burger at all, but I was so hungry and didn’t know my way around Newmarket, I think coming here was actually fate. I cannot tell you how fantastic the Lamb Burger was – the meat was so tender, the burger literally melted in my mouth. I’m not much of a beetroot eater(and I’m told this is a common topping in Australian and New Zealand burgers), but it was different in a good way. The bun was also really good, so no complains about the burger at all. We also got the Potato Skins with Truffle Aioli – amaaazing! They were hot and fresh when it came to our table and the chunky portions were more than generous. It’s such a shame I’m almost 9,000 miles away because I’m craving a meal from this place at this very moment. The staff were a fun bunch, especially our waiter, Liam, who was full of laughs. Great place away to eat from the shopping madness on Broadway – Osborne Lane is a super cute and nice place to hang out.

Spectacular burgers!!! Came here for dinner with some friends and had a delicious burger and tasty fries. Liked it so much, I came back again! Great, fun restaurant atmosphere, a place you can have a nice dinner at or hangout. Prices are also quite affordable for a gourmet burger. After we were seated our orders were quickly taken and a short wait later our food came out. The burgers are well cooked, taste great(grass fed meat), and are definitely worth a try. Definitely a contender for best burger in Auckland!

Burger Burger is a must to try. If freshly made burgers, yummy lemonade and shakes and some of the best chips around appeals to your taste buds then Burger Burger is the place to be.

For a burger joint in Auckland, this is probably as good as it gets. Great juicy burgers in a burger focused joint. Good beers on tap, delicate lighting, acoustics are good(not crazily loud), and is generally a really fun place to have a casual meal. Great location in Newmarket in a renovated part of that section of the city. You will only find good at this joint.

This spot is nice and roomy compared to the little hole in the wall in Ponsonby. Lends itself to a nice chill vibe where you feel like you could laze away an hour or two. The sides here are AMAZING! I am strangely in love with their carrots. When they came over I was underwhelmed — looked like a bowl of boiled carrot slices. But, once you grab a bite, you’re overwhelmed by the delicious combo of carrot, butter, and thyme. WOW. Awesome. The charred broccoli was also to die for. It’s perfectly smokey, nutty, yummy. Kumera fries(sweet potato fries for those visiting NZ) are also VERY nice. Don’t miss them! And the desserts… they do sundaes and they have Kohu Road ice cream… THEBEST!!! Unfortunately, the thing that misses the mark here for me is their veggie burger. I’ve tried it twice(once at each location) and each time I’ve been underwhelmed. It doesn’t have a great deal of flavor, its a bit hard to bite into(too thick and the outside too crunchy which makes for a bit awkward of a bite), the feta topping makes it very salty and frankly it tasted a bit off. I understand all their other burgers are to die for, so I hope they decide to revamp the veggie burger recipe soon. In the meantime, I’ll pig out on the sides, dessert, and their sweet beer selection(I had the shandy — do recommend!!!)

During the week I generally eat pretty healthy, but come the weekend this is thrown out the window and my old friend junk comes to play . These burgers are far from junk though, and I wouldn’t compare these burgers to some other generic burgers we all may be familiar with . The pillowy soft buns, the juiciness of the beef pattie and the mustard, mayo and gherkins all melded together to create one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted. The waiter asked if I wanted the beef patty cooked medium rare and this is a first for me as your quite often told this isn’t «food safe«but caution to wind and I said yes, I’m glad I did as it made it soo much juicer ! I also ordered a side of the charred broccoli with garlic and almonds and a Negroni cocktail . I left feeling pleasantly saited without that food coma feeling that some other burgers might give you . With its Snappy service, great background tunes Burger Burger is onto a winner. The server checked that I was happy with my order and drink which I really liked. Lots of families on the day I was there and from what I saw with the kids meal it looked like a good size burger for little hands . I’m already planning ways to come back.

Much bigger space here than at the Ponsonby one. And, more importantly, there’s a dessert bar for icecream sundaes and cookie sandwiches. With Little & Friday cookies and Kohu Road icecream, you are spoilt for choice. Desserts aside, the menu offers lots of burger choices and a bunch of sides so you don’t forget your veggies. Think we may have ordered almost all of them. The carrots, broccoli, cabbage with bacon, kumara fries and potato skins. All were really good, even the humble carrot held it’s own. I like the cool vibe here, a great place to meet friends. With attentive service and good food, I’m making plans for a revisit soon. Maybe to try the thick shakes, they look amazing.

I’ve been to Burger Burger in Ponsonby a couple of times, and recently went to the Newmarket restaurant which opened in March. I was extremely impressed. The food is exactly the same(and I’ve already reviewed that so won’t go over it again) apart from the desserts, but the décor and staff are really different to Ponsonby. The restaurant is a lot bigger and there is a lot more space so it doesn’t feel as cramped or busy as the Ponsonby Central location. The staff are also super-friendly and overall provide a slightly better service as well. So this is my new favourite Burger Burger and I’m looking forward to coming back!

This is what Auckland has been missing. A good quality burger joint with equally tasty sides and which doesn’t break the bank. I am entirely dedicated to the standard chicken burger. On the off day I get fish but the chicken is perfection. Even better with a slice of pineapple. My friends swear by the medium rare beef burger. They also do bunnuce burgers which replace the buns with lettuce. Though I’m not sure why you would do that because the bread is definitely one of the highlights. The sides are excellent. Potato skins, shoestring fries and kumara fries are all paired with BB’s signature aioli. Damn good aioli. The charred broccoli is a must-order. In terms of drinks, I love the homemade lemonade and the vanilla milkshake. Service is generally quick and friendly. They don’t do bookings but if you leave your name and phone number with the guy they will send you a text when your table is ready. They do weekly specials but I’ve never had any luck with coming across tasty specials. I suggest sticking to the standard ones(chicken of course). The food quality is relatively consistent across both stores though Newmarket I’ve found seem to be better, they also offer a greater menu variety and are a bigger store so more chances of getting seated. We’ve had a number of times where Ponsonby wasn’t up to scratch.

I really enjoyed coming here for lunch one weekday, we arrived just before twelve and the restaurant was quite empty, but there was plenty of staff around and we got a table really quickly. Having not been here before it was really nice for the staff to take us through the menu and specials and explain a few things that they do differently to other burger joints. We ordered two burgers and two sides. The special of the week was a Marty McFly(great name) which had chicken, bacon, cheese, lettuce and dressings. It looked amazing and HUGE. The other burger was their beef burger ordered as it comes — which is medium rare, with no extras like cheese or bacon. Not realising how big the sides of fries were we ordered some shoestring potatos and kumara chips to share — don’t do this unless you are a hungry beast! The servings of both of these are massive, delicious and come with a big blob of aioli which is great to see as normally you get quite a small amount for lots of chips. Everything tasted fresh and was full of flavour. I also ordered a house made honey cola which was really delicious — highly recommend this as the flavour was amazing! Can’t wait to come back and try their broccoli, thickshakes and to see what types of special burgers they have!

I’ve been to the burger burger in ponsonby a couple of times & I have to say they make a tasty burger. So I had to see if the Newmarket one was just as good. Well there are definitely more seats. So that was already a positive. The only gripe I will have is that there is no clear management structure. I walked in looked for a seat(which there were plenty of) but couldn’t find someone willing to seat me. I basically had to seat myself… I can manage. That isn’t dire straights. Food. Probably the single most important part. The sole reason for getting fours stars. I had the special. I always check out the specials & they never fail to be amazing. This was no exception. The Fush n’ Chup burger. It had the deep fried fish, the fries with tomato sauce, a little lettuce slaw & some vinegary pickle. The balance of flavours was epic. Also I had the potato skins. They are spritzed with truffle oil & served with aioli. There needed to be another dimension to this. Truffle is pungent but also soft & round, as much as it is earthy. Aioli is also full of the same aromas. It leaves a coating on the roof of the mouth that is hard to contend with. Maybe a truffle salt or a vinegary note might cut against the competing richness. Also don’t bother getting a thickshake, it has the same consistency & thickness as the regular shake. Still super yummy… But you’ll save yourself a dollar.

Love their new space– less claustrophic than the skinny interior of Ponsonby with similar indoor-outdoor spaces in their vintage vibes of old school posters on the walls and a new ice cream parlour section with jars of cookies on top. Must come back to try that. Spied a highly interesting golden syrup flavour and cool gluten free coconut one as well. Cool unisex bathroom with lovely scented hand cream on your way out. High tables, low tables, in side sections and main floor. Lots of people when we cruised in for lunch. Tried their lamb– which was divine. So soft after a 12-hour braise, with generous amounts of tomato jam, mint yogurt and mustard in their delightfully squishy bread buns(why would you ever swap it for a bunnuce? [bun-lettuce, no carbs/bread]). Definitely recommend if you are a lamb fan. Definitely come see their new joint!

If you can’t get a seat at Burger Burger’s Ponsonby branch, then try their new outpost in Newmarket. You won’t regret it. From the efficient text based waiting system to the drinks, food and service, this restaurant gets it just right. A casual atmosphere and the scent of great burgers waft down Osborne lane to greet you as you enter. The menu consists of US staples such as beef, fish and cheeseburgers and specials with a twist. The milkshakes and thick-shakes(especially the chocolate thick-shake) are as good as any that you’d find in New York. Special mention needs to be made about the beautifully soft buns and fries, both of which complement the high quality of the meat. Attention to detail makes Burger Burger what it is. Even if it’s not the cheapest burger in town, it just might be the best!

I had been to Burger Burger in Ponsonby Central and had been thoroughly impressed with the food and the service, though the wait for a table was always a little long. When I heard they’d opened a much larger restaurant in Newmarket I was very keen to go. As expected the burgers were spectacular and delicious, and the truffle oil potato skins are to die for. I also got to taste the charred broccoli side(if you enjoy partaking in vegetables these were a real hit out our table) and the peanut butter thick shake was a thing made from heaven. The size and ambiance of the restaurant is also great, with neon signs and the same chilled out feeling you get from the Pomsonby restaurant, with just a lot more room. I was also disaapointed there was no room in my stomach for a custom ice cream sandwich dessert. My only complaint and the reason I am giving it 4⁄5 stars is the service was pretty horrendous. When we arrived there were at least four staff just standing and loitering out the front, and we had to ask for service twice before someone even came to see us to give us water. Not sure how long it’s been open so perhaps it’s just teething problems and the staff working out which area of the restaurant they were responsible for. Once they remembered we existed(even after being reminded twice) the service was good and swift and friendly.
