This place is fantastic. Their meal portions are very generous and the food is delicious.

Fantastic find on a rainy Thursday. Service was quick and the portions were plentiful. Two kebab works plates with drinks was approximately $ 36NZ.

A friend of mine used to live above Eden Kebab, so safe to say we indulged very often in their offerings. Night by Night we would stumble down, order a couple of kebabs then wander around Dominion Road looking for something to do. I recently went back in an effort to rekindle the feelings engendered by those glorious days. Unfortunately, something had changed. Maybe it was the lack of companion. Maybe it was the different server. Whatever it was, the magic was lost. However, the kebab itself was still very good. In a world where you can get five dollar kebabs, a shop needs to really pull it out of the bag, and Eden Kebab do still do a great feed. They also sell a variety of other items then kebabs, so even if you aren’t a kebab master, give it a try.

I think kebab shops get it pretty easy. I think it is fair to say your kebab has to be pretty terrible for people not to like it. But, in saying that, a Good Kebab is hard to come by, once you’ve had that Really Awesome Kebab. Eden Kebab is one of those places, that once you’ve had a kebab from here, those not-so-good kebabs from other shops are suddenly rather disgusting and you find yourself only wanting a kebab if you can get from Mt Eden. I think the reason why this place is so good is because the people who work there just know what they are doing. They aren’t trying to be fancy, they aren’t trying to do anything different or special, they just make kebabs. And they make a really, really good kebab.

Eden Kebab is one of those hyperbolic places that have so much win they can afford to fail. This is lucky, because in my experience it’s slipped in the last few years. It used to be that this was, hands down, the best kebab place in Auckland. We would travel past other kebab shop to get here, that’s how good it was(even more of a compliment because my friends and I are pretty lazy). But the quality is not what it used to be — the greasiness has increased, the delicacy of the grilling on the meat has lost its subtle flavours. But this does not make it a bad place — this is still among the better kebab shops in Auckland, and one of the better food options in Mt Eden. It suffers from comparisons to its former self, but still holds up well reasonably against the competition. I dunno. I guess they got lonely at the top.

This is our local kebab shop which oddly, also does burgers and curries. I always get a felafel salad with garlic and chilli sauces and it’s very yummy indeed. They also do the yummy little Middle Eastern savouries that I’m fond of with the veggies inside. Hubby raves about the chicken wraps so I assume they are also good and the portions are man-size. I got them to make me a burger once though which was a bit of a mistake. Just major bread-y bun with not much taste. The chips and wedges are good though but I would recommend sticking to what they do best — kebabs.

I had lived in the area awhile before trying out Eden Kebab; and now that I have I’ll definitely be back on those nights I can’t be bothered cooking, or having gotten around to doing groceries. I visited there one day to grab myself some lunch. I purchased a falafel kebab and it was really tasty. Once I chose my three sauces, my kebab was warmed up and then wrapped in foil which kept it nice and hot. They weren’t stingy on the filling which is always a plus. On my next visit I might choose a side of pita with homemade hummus; sounds delicious yes? You can also purchase fries to have with your order. So if you’re in the area and in need of a takeaway, why not try Eden Kebab on Mt Eden Road, near Shackleton Road.
