I live next door to this place and have tried to eat here a few times over the years today being another. Do not waste your money. It’s been bad food every time I’ve been here. My brekky was not even edible, the healthy breakfast. How they stay in business is the big question.

Super handy location, playful menu but really overpriced as a whole. Nothing all that special but in the right location and open at the right time. Coffee was pretty good and the staff brought out water for our pups which was very thoughtful. However, there was nothing about it that was truly a standout. Oh except the $ 7 toast of what looked like store-bought Molenberg bread. Stop in for a coffee and to soak up some rays, but don’t expect to be blown away by the food.

Delicious lunch! Perfect presentation! Brilliant location! If you work in the Viaduct area, why would you go anywhere else for a fresh lunch? Jones has a perfect menu selection with everything from toast & preserves, soups & salads to savory pies all the way down to chocolate cake. If you can get past the lofty prices($ 8.50 for toast & preserves), I promise you the meal will be worth it’s weight in gold. I ordered the B.L.A.T, bacon. lettuce, avocado and tomato for those not in the know. Served on fresh Focaccia it was paired with small potato wedges, that had such a delightful crunch to them I wish I had an extra bowl on the side. A small ramekin of ketchup and house made aioli complimented the meal. Now if you are like me, your worst nightmare is ordering a BLT and there being only two pieces of bacon inside. Can I tell you how over the moon with joy I was that my B.L.A.T not only had ample amounts of juicy, crunchy bacon, it also had plump tomato’s and crisp lettuce all set in a mouthwatering aioli. Delicious! Located right on the Viaduct waterfront, every seat inside or out of this café is a winner.

Stopped in for coffee and a slice on my way past. Coffee was disappointing. Either poor quality beans or old. No real flavour.

Must say after frequenting Jones the Grocer in Newmarket I was disappointed when I visited this one. Much smaller, this Jones the Grocer doesn’t have the atmosphere, the store, it is really just a café. What they do have though is an alright selection of food in the cabinet, good coffee and fantastic staff. On one occasion my friend and I were in need of a white platter to photograph some chocolate on and when I asked if we could borrow one, the guy was more than willing to help. Not only did he give us the platter, he washed it and then asked if he could help with anything else. Awesome he was, so thanks dude! On a summers day you can take a seat at a table outside and soak up the sun while enjoying your menu selections. This end of Customs Street is a little hidden, located behind the Viaduct this café is one of the better ones around this area and I was really impressed with the service each time I came too.

Crossed between a classy coffee shop, delicatessen and rustic restaurant, Jones the Grocer on Customs Street West is relatively new having been opened just in time for the Rugby World Cup. Now the rugby is over the clientele is drawn out of the surrounding corporates around Viaduct for coffee meetings and business lunches. I always feel a little under dressed at the counter in my trainers, but the chicken and brie sandwich is worth the awkwardness. The double pack of home-made rocky road is a devious treat that always eyes me up at the cash register, and it is AMAZING.
